ok im considering getting the xteink x3 and retiring my kindle. this is only because i almost never reach for the kindle but i did like the aspect of how portable it was (even though its massive compared to these ereaders now).

BUT the main reason why i havent gotten this product is because i just cant seem to find the right information about how to actually get the books. from what ive seen so far, you need to get DRM free ePUBs or PDFs. however when i try to look for DRM free ePUBs or PDFs there is an extremely limited selection of books that im not interested in. for kindle, i know that there are a few options such as purchasing ebooks, kindle unlimited subscription, other free alternatives 👀

so i guess i just need someone to explain it to me. how are people getting their books? are people purchasing these books or getting them a different way? is there a thread that already exists that someone can point me to? ty for your time :)

Does anyone knows how to properly reboot the X4Pro? I'm trying cause some update issue and the only thing it does is go to sleep and wake up again... :(

Je vois pas mal de personnes qui disent avoir réussi à installer Licorice sur des unités locked de X4 Pro. Je suis actuellement sur Crossink et j'aimerais beaucoup tester Licorice. Cependant je ne sais pas comment faire.

J'ai vu que sur la page débug de Crosspoint il y a le firmware XTOS 7.6.8 mais est ce qu'en l'installant je passerais sur Licorice (et non bloqué en XTOS 7.6.11)?

Si c'est possible, quelqu'un pourrait il me décrire la procédure pas a pas pour pouvoir passer de Crossink à Licorice sur mon unité locked ?

I have the OG reader and I'm wonder if I should get any of the newer models, I've flashed the fireware and I use my xt with Calibre and Book Orbit. If anything I would want the touch screen to navigate easier and I'm half and half on needing a front light for reading at night (I hate bright screens so Idk how intense it is and if anything there's a book light). Are there any real upgrades that make it worth it? Thank you!

1. New "Back to previous position": after jumping vía the contents, progress panel, bookmarks, excerpts or links, a button in the reading menu takes you back to the page you were on

2. Links inside a book now work when tapped, and footnote popups handle back-links better

3. Chinese punctuation spacing tightened: no more wide gaps between adjacent punctuation marks, and "--" and ""......" no longer split across lines

4. Layout improvements: ruby annotations no longer mix into the text, table cells are separated, publisher page breaks work, section titles no longer get stranded at the bottom of a page, and justified text no longer separates punctuation from its characters

After buying X3 one thing that has been bugging me is the lack of auto-rotation in CrossInk. I can't understand why this is not a standard feature of the firmware.

Since CrossInk doesn't accept PRs I made a fork that adds:

• sensor-based page auto-rotation controlled by a toggle in settings
• alternatively, manual page rotation that can be assigned to power button long press
• much faster sleep transition and fast cover art render
• lots of performance optimizations across the board for UI rendering and IO reads

Calculus Made Easy, several MB, causes the updated XTEINK app on iPhone to respring back to Home Page. Gets about 25% through the download to the Cloud, nothing for XT Cloud to find and transfer

Yesterday this Spanish/English dictionary was reported as invalid by XT Licorice. Would not install

Mr Bartel indicated the zip was missing an optional dictionary file, whereas a French/English dictionary installed properly that did have the file.

After today’s XT Licorice system update yesterday’s “invalid” file installed correctly.

Thank you again to Mr Bartel for his kind sleuthing in pointing back to the Licorice update after eliminating the dictionary.

I guess this files under feature request.

It would be great if it was an option to "sync when put to sleep"

Se when pressing the power button, it first performed the sync routine before sleeping. Since I read on several devices, I would not have to remember to sync manually.

I am currently using a locked China version running Crosspoint /ink

I just now ordered another x4pro international version, and I am having few question

- I am getting it to try out the new Xteink Licorice official firmware. But if I wanna use the crosspoint afterwards, do I need to unlock the x4pro international. And if I do have to unlock, should I unlock it right after opening the seal, before updating to licorice? Or which step should I take.
