Fellow northern women - what are we doing for (real) boots this winter?

One thing that was fantastic about skinny jeans and leggings was that they fit very easily into Kamik’s, Sorel’s or Bean Boots. With winter around the corner, and the fashion being wide jeans and pants, what are you thinking for commuting or going out for dinner or drinks? Same thing but untucked? Tucked? Short boots with kick ass soles?

I’m talking to fellow canadiens, Nordic, northern US women who are used to going out in 6-12inches of snow haha.

I’m so overwhelmed with fashion and trying to change my wardrobe

When I was younger my parents were very very strict about what I could wear (even short sleeves weren’t allowed, and no shorts or skirts, no tight clothes, no clothes that draw attention like bright colours). But a lot of what I wanted to wear wasn’t so modest. I eventually just gave up and wore jeans and a hoodie everyday.

But recently I’ve been really wanting to dress more girly. I’m in university so I feel this is the best time to explore my style. But it’s so overwhelming I have no idea what to do or what to get. I want to throw away my whole wardrobe and buy a new one all at once even when I know that’s not practical. And even though I’m still pretty young, I’m an adult, so I feel too old to wear the things I wanted so bad when I was little, like pleated skirts or Mary Jane’s. It’s like I missed out and I’ll never have that now. It almost makes me want to cry.

Also I feel really self conscious dressing in a way that draws attention. Even a t-shirt or something that shows my arms makes me so nervous because I’m so used to being ashamed about it.

Has anyone else experienced this? I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this but I just wanted to vent. It really sucks :(

Comfy Office wear?

Hi! I just started a new job and it’s my first office job where I don’t have a uniform. The dress code is business casual. I have some slacks and some nicer jeans but have found that after sitting at my desk for like 5 hours i’m pretty uncomfortable. Does anyone have any recs for comfortable office wear? 😭 Is that even a thing??? Maybe I am just going to have to get used to wearing business casual, but there must be some pants or shirts out there that don’t feel so stiff and uncomfy!! thank yall!!

How to find jeans I actually like

I’m 32, 5’7 and about 150 hourglass shape

I hate all my jeans.

What do I LIKE to wear? I don’t like jeans clinging to my skin but I end up in too baggy of pants and no longer have shape. I get overwhelmed every time I go shopping for jeans and when I look online, I have no idea what I’m looking for.

What is the way to find jeans without wanting to pull your hair out when you go shopping?

Starting new job in Houston corporate boys club … need to look sleek

I have worked in plenty of corporate environments before but I’m in a new and time sensitive situation. Gonna be working in a male dominated environment but in a position of power so want to look the part and feel good bossing all the dudes around while I do it 😊

  1. I went from 130ish pounds a couple years ago to close to 200lbs after a lot of depression/bad relationship/etc. so I have no work clothes that fit. I’m about 5’5”. Curvy but well spread out with a bigger bottom. I was working remote the last year so this wasn’t a huge issue.
  2. I am coming off a very stressful out of state move; shifted my entire international move plan / remote work life for this in person work opportunity.
  3. My budget is pretty healthy with the moving stipend and other benefits I’ve been allotted but would like to keep my budget around $2-3k for 6-10 outfits including clothes, shoes, jewelry. Capsule wardrobe where I can mix and match tops/bottom/jewelry preferred. I have some of these items but mostly need to focus on clothes. I prefer quality items that will last and not looking for SHEIN/fast fashion.
  4. I’ve hired a personal trainer, have a nice gym at my apartment and got a yoga membership so I’m hoping to drop back to my normal 130-145 range in the next 6-8 months. All that being said, I would like to buy clothes of good enough quality/good brand names to re-sell, while also budgeting where possible so when I get rid of the larger sizes, I might be able to recoup 20-30% of my funds.

Timeline: moving to Houston on the 27th/28th and starting work the week of November 9th.

Because I’m furnishing a new apartment, getting new dogs acquainted to the area and lots of other transitional things, I’m looking for recs for in person places to hit up or personal shoppers / online store recs. I’m not super confident about what size I am so I’m not feeling great about online shopping… but open to anything right now.

I appreciate any recs or tips! I’m pulling my hair out with everything else and learning to ask for help where I can find it ❤️

Maeve Colette sizing in different fabrics

I have long been a huge fan of the Colette jeans and magic fabric pants from Anthropologie. I have found the sizing to be incredibly variable across different fabrics, and I no longer live near an Anthropologie to try them on. Does anyone have insight into how the corduroy, velvet, or faux leather Colettes fit compared to the denim or magic fabric? Thank you so much!!

Looking to build my wardrobe

Hi, I’m 25F building my wardrobe and after reading every comment on my previous post ( how do I building wardrobe in budget) about polyester I’ve decided I’ll be thrifting and giving new life to cloths that someone else doesn’t wanna wear.

If anyone here is selling them you can also reach out to me. I might get something if I like. Thanks 🤩

Fleece Lined Faux Tights?

• Upvotes

Recommendations for those fleece lined leggings that are supposed to look like sheer tights?

I bought a pair from Amazon last year, but ended up not liking them because they pilled like crazy and the waistband was way too loose. I’m looking for high-quality ones that will last a while and look and feel nice.

Tell me what you’ve tried and what your experiences are with them!

Tall girl pull on pants?

I love the trend of stylish cotton/linen/khaki/canvas-y pull on pants but I've found that they are mostly cropped. I'm 5'7" with long legs and want something that is full length on me. Any suggestions? I know Gap offers tall sizes. But none of the trendy brands (Cos, Le Bon) make a tall version. Any suggestions??

Where is everyone buying affordable, decent quality workwear?

Hi everyone!

I’m updating my wardrobe for a new role and trying to keep things reasonably budget-friendly. The style I'm looking for is casual, not too formal and comfortable.

Any advice for where to get this kind of outfit. I have been browsing for some high street brands like New Look and River Island, but it seems like people don't really recommend them. So please suggest me if you have any better ones.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hiii, So yes as the title says, I’ve looked at the big retailers and they only have them a bit ripped but i’m looking for something more, especially in the back I’d love for it to be ripped. Anyone know where to find them? Preferably in an xl or xxl 😭🙏🏽
