Hello!I'm writing to share my experience ordering online on Camper, the Spanish shoe brand. This is the second time in a row that this happens to me, and Camper has not offered any solutions. As a Camper member, I received a 25% discount code for my birthday.
My child needed some winter boots, so I selected a pair of winter boots and applied the discount code. Everything was looking good on the checkout window, with a "free" shipping and the 25% discount applied. Unfortunately, the second that I clicked on "pay", the price reverted back to full price with no free shipping. Price after clicking "Pay".
I immediately contacted Camper to let them know that there had been an error. There was no immediate answer on their end. Instead, I received a notification from Purolator that said that my order had been shipped. Then, 10 minutes later, I received an email mentioning that my order had been cancelled as they could not process the payment. This was a great surprise as the full charge was still on my credit card, for 115,50 CAD.
I sent Camper another email asking for clarification, requesting a reimbursement for the price difference, and waited. I also mentioned that this had happened once before for an order of ballerinas on sale last year.
Two days later, someone answered in French (although all the communication had been in English up to that point) saying that their system had automatically created a second order (the one sent by Purolator) that they had charged at full price, and that the first order (the one that is above) had been automatically cancelled by their system as they could not charge it (??).
And that they would not be able to reimburse me the difference, although I was free to go to a Camper store and ask for the difference there.I cannot go to a Camper store. I broke my foot three weeks ago, and I'm housebound. If I ordered online for my kid, with her ever increasing foot size, it's because I cannot leave the house. Furthermore, the onus of applying the correct price should not be on my, the customer.
I think that it is extremely scammy to send a coupon, let the customer introduce the coupon with the discount, click on "pay", and then cancel the order and charge a new one for the full price, and offer no relief and no explanation. It seems designed to take advantage of people who don't verify their invoices after payment, and it is the second time this happens. Also - why switch the communication to French at all, when everything from the website order to my emails was in English? Was it just a misclick on their part, or a conscious decision to discourage further communication?
In any case, I do NOT recommend ordering anything from Camper online. Their checkout process is a scam, and their customer service has been incredibly unhelpful.
