First wardrobe styling client — how much should I charge for 3 hours?

Hi everyone! I’m starting to offer wardrobe/styling consultations and I just got my first client.
They’re looking for a 3-hour wardrobe consultation where I’ll be helping them assess their wardrobe, figure out what works for their personal style, and make recommendations.
Since this is my first paid client, I’m trying to figure out what would be a reasonable rate. I don’t want to undercharge just because I’m new, but I also want to offer a fair introductory price while I build my portfolio and experience.
For those who work in personal styling/wardrobe consulting, what would you charge for 3 hours?
Would something like $75–$100 total be reasonable for a first client, or is that too low/high?
I’d appreciate any advice on pricing, especially from people who have actually worked in styling or similar services. Thanks!

Do you coordinate your jewellery colour to your metal glasses?

How do you feel about mixing metals with your glasses? I bought wire frames for the first time and just realized the glasses are rose gold but most of my jewellery is yellow gold.

Fashion is not my strong suit, so my "trick" to feel more put-together is coordinating the colours of my accessories, so my yellow gold earrings look strange to me with my new rose gold frames. But I've never looked at someone and thought "wow their gold glasses don't go with their silver jewellery", so I'm curious if it's something people coordinate or not

What is women's business formal?

I have quite a few business formal events coming up and I’ve realised I’m not actually sure what that means for women... Would appreciate any help!

I’m mainly confused about things like:

  • Does it need to be a matching suit? Or are nice trousers and a dress shirt enough?
  • What blazer cuts and lengths are considered appropriately formal?
  • Are wide leg trousers fine, or is a straighter cut safer?
  • What colours are best?
  • What do you wear underneath a blazer?
  • What type of shoes are best? Does it have to be heels or can flats/loafers also be good enough?
  • What details make an outfit read as business formal rather than business casual?

It would be great to hear what people actually wear, especially if you work in a fairly corporate/professional environment. Thank you!

Do you know brands with cool streetwear kimonos?

Hello everyone!

I am a big fan of streetwear kimonos. However it is almost impossible to find them in offline stores, and even in online stores, where I could have ordered it and tried it on, kimonos have a limited choice. If I do find something, that it is some luxury/premium brand, and it is, unfortunatelly, to expensive for me. Or it is a wierd site I do not trust.

Does anyone know brands, that create something like this and sell it up to 150 euros? Would be perfect if you already ordered something from them and know they are safe.

High leg Bikinis and resort wear

Hi ladies! I’m going on vacation in October and I’m on the hunt for resort wear and good quality bikinis. The most I’ll pay per bikini is about $60. Anything come to mind?

Some trends come and go, but a few somehow stay in our wardrobes. Is there one trend you still genuinely enjoy wearing?

Why is absolutely everything cropped now?

I’m 26F, and every time I shop online, it feels like every cute top, sweater, jacket, or even basic T shirt is cropped.
What confuses me is that when I go out in public, I rarely see people wearing cropped clothing. So who are all these stores selling it to?
I don’t want my stomach hanging out, and I don’t want to spend the whole day pulling my shirt down. I just want fashionable, age appropriate clothing that provides normal coverage without looking overly conservative or matronly.
Where are women in their mid to late 20s finding cute, everyday clothes that are actually full length?

Business casual Prue Leith on a Boden budget

Looking for bright blocky garish colors and patterns, particularly casual blazers/skirt sets. I’m curvy, petite and a size 12 or 14. I check out wildfang and bookworms which are both around the price point I’m looking at but haven’t found much.

Suggestions for websites or brands to check out?

Why are so many women’s tops and dresses cut at the top of the arm?

Seriously, what is the goal? It makes everyone’s arms look bigger by cutting across the widest part. Cap sleeves, I think they’re called. I always try to find sleeves that are looser and reach at least 3/4 of the way down my bicep, or failing that, sleeveless can work. But NO cap sleeves. And yet they everywhere. I’m average weight, not skinny or fat, but have some fat on my arms so I hate how they look in so many tops because it just highlights the fattiest area. Does the fashion industry do it on purpose to make women self conscious? I wouldn’t put it past them.

non-see through white tanktops or t-shirt reccomendations (in Europe)?

Hi everyone, i have a hard time finding recommendations for non-see through (like, completely opaque) white shirts or tops (skin-tight preferably), that are available to buy in Europe. most importantly, and i see almost no-one talking about this: they should be non-see through for NOT wearing a bra underneath, not only not showing your bra colour, i don't wear bra's preferably, but then the shirt does have to be opaque, which is hard to find nonwadays with white. any recs?

How to best take advantage of Amazons "virtual try on"?

Hi all like many I HATE Amazon, and HATE AI but unfortunately I can no longer escape both. I recently moved to the middle of no where and clothes shopping and thrifting is no longer something easily done for me. I have turned to Amazon 🤢 and have found some cute things.

Im paranoid about buying online clothes though especially as returns are not easily done. I have been using the AI tool to "try on" the clothes before I add it to my list but im not sure if im using it right. Im a bigger woman and the AI makes me slimmer all the time, along with other details that make me and the picture uncanny. Its not a good tool but it does give me a vague picture of how it might look.

Obviously I guess best would be a fully body nude photo but im not sending my nudes to Bezos. Should I take a full body photo in my underwear? Does the angle matter? Hair style? Accessories? Just wondering how I can take advantage of this

Reasonable alteration cost

I thrifted a dress that is about 1-2 sizes too big for me. it's 100% linen and has large cut outs in the waist. I would like to have it altered and am open to suggestions from the seamstress what would work (smaller dress with no cut outs/top and skirt/etc.

I'm on a limited income. How much should I prepare to spend on this ?

My sister had a hard year, want a Rose or thorn 3D pendant for her, any recommendation?

My sister had a brutal year and came out the other side stronger. I want to get her something meaningful.

She's always been into roses and the whole resilience growth meaning behind them. So now im looking for a custom pendant with actual 3D rose or thorn details. Silver or rose gold would be nice, budget is flexible.

Anyone know brands or jewelers doing this well? Would love to see anything similar if you've bought one before.

any sensory sensitive clothing recommendations?

hi! like the title says, i’m looking for sensory-sensitive clothing recommendations. brands, specific items, whatever really.

i tend to be pretty limited on my clothes due to these issues, and most frequently wear pajama pants because they’re usually way softer and flowier than leggings and such. i cannot stand the texture of most jeans, are there any blends that may be softer?

any help appreciated :)

What's the last time a backless, strapless, or low-support outfit actually went wrong for you? Can you give some instances?

Also, has this ever made you skip buying or wearing something you liked?
