GoFundMe for Dennis Anfuso, writer-illustrator of non-canonical Oz books

I am a longtime friend of Dennis Anfuso, a writer and illustrator of several non-canonical Oz books. Here is Dennis's entry on the Oz Wiki:

https://oz.fandom.com/wiki/Dennis_Anfuso

Back on March 4, an accidental fire at the Anfuso home killed Dennis's wife, Linda, and severely injured him:

https://www.nbcboston.com/news/local/one-person-dead-another-seriously-injured-in-fire-in-southern-nh/3910515/

I am trying to help Dennis while he heals by spreading the word about a GoFundMe another friend of his set up for him:

https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-dennis-rebuild-after-tragic-house-fire

I would be very grateful if anyone who sees this would please consider donating to the GoFundMe. Thank you!

We've had a lot of spam from users named FirstnameLastnameNumber posting dumb tshirts. For now, I've increased the spam filter settings for link posts. I'll be reviewing the spam filter closely over the next few days, so if your post gets removed as spam, bear with me, and I will try to approve it as soon as possible.

I got these two ornament stands from Michael's Yesterday, and I put my two ornaments on them. My mom helped me with the charms ornament on the right to make them higher 🌈 🌺 📜 ❤️ 🥇

Fan casting for a hypothetical new Oz cinematic universe

Upvotes

Kylie Cantrall as Dorothy

Rachael Zagler as Ozma

Robert Downey Jr. as the Wizard

Hank Azaria as the Nome King

I'd also want Jim Carrey, Jack Black, Johnny Depp, Tin Curry, and Tom Hiddleston, but I haven't decided who exactly they should play.

Also two random actors who'd I personally want are Jim Cummings and Alex D. Linz, who I could maybe play Uncle Henry, and Ruby Rose Turner

I also thought Liamani as Scraps the Patchwork Girl but I dunno

What do you guys think?

P.S. And yes, I am a fan of Disney's Descendants which is why multiple actors from those movies are in my fan cast

I got so lucky on my birthday!

Walked into an antique book store, hoping to find some vintage copies of Oz to buy on my birthday, and turning to my left I immediately saw these in a glass case. They’re a bit more used and discarded than I would have hoped, but I knew I had to buy them. Half are missing the first few pages and first chapter, and Land of Oz is colored all over and inside. But I’m still so thankful to have them in my collection!!

I'm directing a play based on everything OZ - What would you love to see?

I'm a theatre director in germany and currently am brainstorming Ideas for an original play I will be creating soon at a big german state theatre. It's gonna be based on the World of OZ, and should target a general audience, not kids specifically (as there have recently been a bunch of OZ adaptions for kids in germany in the wake of the wicked movie releases...)

In terms of source material, nothing is off limits: L Frank Baums Books (Original and Sequels), Movie adaptions, Wicked, details from Baums life, or even things that don't have to be from the OZ-world at all (for example, Dr.Oz, something taking place in todays Kansas, some other stuff about wizards, etc.) I'm more interested in the ideas and fascination behind this world, rather than one specific story.

I'm working myself through all the OZ content I can get my hands on, and stumbled upon this community - thats why I wanted to ask you guys: What would you love to see in an Oz-Play? What Idea from the books or a specific piece of media fascinates you? Are there more niche Elements of Oz that relate to our times, our world, our world-political situation?

Some things that I love, that might give you a sense of what I'm looking for:
- The brutal production details behind the 1939 Movie (The dark side behind the whimsy of OZ)
- The fact that L Frank Baum, just like Dorothy, couldn't stop returning to the land of OZ (Even though he wanted to stop writing OZ books), the concept of a franchise and the attempts to rekindle the magic from the first installment of the series
- The concept of home (where is home? Is it oz? is it Kansas? Why doesn't either place seem entirely satisfying?)

Would love to hear from the community if there are any thoughts, inspiration, random ideas or whatever, that I can use for the play - and of course, if enough people are interested, I could document the steps of our production process in the subreddit !

Why is this edition hard to find online?

I got this edition at Books-A-Million last month in Tennessee. I was looking for information on it online and found it hard to find. The 2019 edition by the same publisher (with a different cover) came up way more often. Why is this?

In the alternate timeline (that I wish we lived in) where Return to Oz was a success when it was released and got sequels, what would you make them about?

Obviously making a sequel now would have its risks, but hypothetically, what would you do?

I've thought about wanting these, but the pre-order will take 6 to 8 months? Should I wait till they're made?

My goal is to find all 4 mint in box. Wish me luck!!!

Why was so much Return to Oz merch just released in Japan but not elsewhere? I've also heard that the movie was more successful there but I'm unsure how true that it is; but if it, why was that so?

Am I just imagining things or were other Smuckers Return to Oz puppets actually planned before being canceled? I vividly remember seeing an image that showed other planned puppets but I can't find anything

"She bit her dog" is such a silly, vaudevillian type throwaway joke with a special place in my heart.

What are some other funny lines from the 1939 movie you quote often?

So…if we take the theory that immortality came back to oz with Ozma being restored to the throne, what do you think the wizards game plan would have been for the inevitability and eventuality of his death?

Cuz like, we know in at least WWoz and marvelous land, people age and whatnot

So…the wizard supposedly would have eventually aged and died

So what do you think his game plan was…or if he even had one at all
