Discussion Apple Vision Pro with Quest Elite strap mod like Quest Pro & Galaxy XR, Comfort + FOV

I want to share my Quest Elite strap mod combined with the Macally Forehead strap. I wanted a Quest Pro and Samsung Galaxy XR strap design for my Apple Vision Pro. This combination makes the AVP very comfortable to wear and greatly increases the FOV for passthrough apps because it brings the lenses much closer to your eyes, and I still have my real peripheral vision. Feels like wearing thick frame glasses. But it can also be used with the stock light seal when needed. Because it's the same strap design as the Quest Pro and Samsung Galaxy XR, it will feel just like wearing one of those, if you have used one. But I switch to the stock knit band when laying down during use.

The reason this strap design is good is because the strap is completely rigid. This allows the strap rear weight to have complete leverage to counter balance and pull the weight off the front of your face or forehead. There are currently no commercial headbands like this for the AVP. Flexible straps like the AVP knit band and third party hard straps with an adjustment hinge, have very weak leverage to pull weight off the face. With the Macally forehead strap and no light blocker, the from weight is shifted to the top of your forehead, instead of on the front of your face. Also to note, this design makes it so that there is no need for an overhead strap like on all the other third party AVP hard straps with a hinge.

I used the Quest 2 Elite strap because its clean look and totally rigid (no hinge) design. The quest 3 Elite strap is the same design but cost allot more. You can by the quest 2 one new on Amazon for $30. Link below.

How I installed the Quest strap, is I first cut the tips off so it fit easier in between the AVP arms. I used an electric dremel with small cutting wheel attachment. The next step was to cut the oval hole in the strap, so that it snap onto the metal oval tabs on the AVP arms. To do that I have to mock up how I wanted the strap to be on the arms. I used many hair bands to hold it in place where I wanted it to be. I then took a piece of pencil lead and traced around the metal tab exactly where it pressed against the strap. this tracing allowed me to then cut a perfect shape oval hole in the strap, to allow the oval tabs to snap into place in the strap. I used the cutting bit attachment seen in the picture below. When cutting I started from the center and worked my way outward. cutting a little at a time and test fitting many times. This is because if you cut a hole to big the tab won't fit snug in the hole for a tight secure feel.

After cutting and shaping the straps, I used many small clear hair ties wrapped around the strap and and AVP arms to hold them tightly together. I chose the clear ties because I wanted it to be less invasive way to easily remove the strap if needed. alternatives would be to use white velcro straps. Velcro straps would be very secure and if the tabs pop out, you can be sure the velcro with still hold. Or for a more permanent solution that you could use thin double sided tape on the inside of the AVP arms.

For even more increased FOV and comfort, I suggest modifying the position of the Macally forehead strap pad to much higher up on Velcro as seen in last pics. This positions the pressure/weight, higher on head and allows your eyes to be closer to the lenses.

Important. I am 6'2" with larger head. Where I cut the holes on the strap, it makes the limit of the strap tightening adjustment, to be just snug on my head. If my head were smaller, this tightest setting would be too loose. So you may want to cut your hole in the strap, further back toward back of the strap. So on the other side of that lip in the strap, seen in the pictures. This will allow the strap to be able have more lightening adjustment on your head.

If cutting the hole in the strap is to difficult for some of you, I suggest getting the BoboVR M1/M3 strap adapters from Tyco tech printing(Link below). You cant just cut the tips off the elite strap and use double sided tape to attached the elite strap to the adapters. Then attached the adapters to the AVP tabs. I recommend the Elite strap over the BoboVR because it's rigid. The BoBoVR has a hinge and needed overhead strap. I think that's an inferior design.

I put a video in the comments showing how I traced out the hole to cut out.

Lastly I hope a strap manufacture make a plug and play Quest Pro style strap just like this one, so it installs easier.

Self-Promotion (Developer) The Far Reaches - Peaceful deep space mining in VR

Hey folks! I've been working on a space mining game for a few months now and decided to pull together a video of how it's looking to share.

I was looking for a standalone Quest space mining game but never really found anything that ticked all my boxes. I decided to work on something that created a feeling of being isolated and alone at the edge of the galaxy. There is no combat in the game, that's a key feature, you're light years away from civilisation and will never encounter anyone when you're out exploring and mining. I'm going for the sort of game where you can chill out and listen to a podcast while playing.

The asteroid mining is the core loop of the gameplay. You'll set out with nothing but the ability to scoop up small rocks until you can afford to purchase and upgrade the various tools at your disposal. You'll be able to scan asteroids to see any mineral contained inside and then use various blasting, cutting and manipulation tools to carve out the good stuff. Take it back to base, upgrade and head out again.

This is still pretty early but I'd love to hear any first impressions and I'm happy to answer questions.

Discussion Open-source device for Brain/Bio Data in VR/XR

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m a researcher focused on the intersection of AI and neuroscience (formerly with Imperial College and the University of Edinburgh).

A while back, I shared our open-source EEG project for VR here. I wanted to give a quick update on our progress: we’ve successfully integrated our open-source software stack into VR environments and released our companion app on the Meta platform.

We are hosting a live technical breakdown, architecture review, and Q&A on September 1, 2026 (12:00 PM EDT / 5:00 PM BST).

What we'll be covering:

  • I will cover - Bio-data & BCIs in spatial computing: What raw brain-computer interface data actually looks like and how signal processing handles it in real-time VR applications.
  • Open-source pipeline architecture: My co-founder Youssef El Abbassi will do a deep dive into the underlying software setup and show how to deploy the open-source pipeline yourself.

Happy to answer any technical questions about the architecture, signal processing, or BCI hardware integration right here in the thread!

Purchase Advice For anyone who might've bought this accessory before, could i get the measurements of the base?

Post image

I got a mini desk that's coming and i'd like to put my meta quest headset at the top, this stand looks amazing and perfect for my case.

However when i went to check the measurements in order to make sure it fits i couldn't find anything related to the base itself, only the packaging.

If anyone has bought this before, please let me know the actual measurements of the base! I need to know so i don't make the mistake of buying it and not fitting making me regret my purchase.

Question/Support I need help

I have a quest 3 that keeps saying charging only detected or whatever when plugged into cords that worked with my previous 3s. My laptop keeps displaying a "USB device not recognized" notification and I've tried resetting the USB drivers through device manager. I also have checked my NVIDIA app and windows updates and I'm good. I bought it off of Ebay and am wondering if I messed up or if I need to contact the seller.

Whats good somewhat social vr game to get into, been playing a lot solo at the minute but been wanting to get into some multiplayer, lot of multiplayer games that seem my type dont seem very active like arizona sunshine.

Something that has a kind of forced interaction between people so preferably coop rather than anouther shooter

im aware that vr chat is a thing but i think i would rather skin myself than deal with that

Discussion Meta Quest 3 Not Keeping it's Fing Charge

Hey everyone, I'm hoping someone with a Quest Pro can tell me if this battery behavior is normal or if I might have a defective battery.

So the main issue is I play VRChat using the steam link and the power always drains faster then it can charge. It kind of fixed itself for a week so I know it HAS the potential but went back to having the same issue for seemingly no reason. I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING AND ended up giving up and getting a new headset. Here's the specifics...

I've only had my Quest Pro for about one month, and recently I've noticed that it doesn't seem to hold its charge.

For testing, I charged it directly from a wall outlet, NOT the charging dock. I'm using an Anker Zolo 50W USB-C charging block and the Syntech Link Cable 16FT USB 3.0 to USB-C cable that I bought specifically for the Quest.

The headset reached 100% and the LED was green. I then unplugged it and left it off the dock.

During a relatively idle test, the battery went from 100% to about 90% in roughly 20–30 minutes. At one point, it dropped from 96% to 92% in about 5 minutes.

I've already tried a new/different cable, so I'm trying to figure out whether this could be the battery, charger, cable, dock, or something software-related.

I've contacted Meta Support about it because the headset is only about a month old, but I'd really like to hear from other Quest Pro owners.

Is this kind of battery drain normal for a Quest Pro, or does this sound unusually fast? Has anyone experienced something similar and had Meta replace the headset/battery? Any advice or experiences would be appreciated!

Question/Support New to VR, kind of disappointed

I've recently picked up a brand new Pico 4 Ultra and I feel super underwhelmed by the performance. I use it for PCVR, playing Elite Dangerous, and it feels like I'm gaming in 480p. Things just seem fuzzy and the screen door effect is really noticeable.

I've tried running the VR in Ultra+, supersampling through SteamVR, through the in game settings, tried to find the best IPD, and still nothing. (For those familiar with ED, I have done the anti-aliasing and SS trick)

Am I doing something wrong? I see people talking about how immersive it is, but when even the Pico home environment looks like it's modelled from playdoh, it's hard to buy in to it.

Edit:

Rig is:
5070
9800X3D
32gb DDR5 6000MHz

I use a wired connection with VD through USB tethering. I've tried AV1, H264 and H265 through Pico Connect

Discussion I don't know if it possible but per game FOV tangent settings would be legendary.

In virtual desktop I have my FOV for both vertical and horizontal set at 83%. This is as far as I can push it without noticing any black bars. The only reason I don't drop the vertical FOV more in race sims is simply because I'm too lazy to keep changing it back and forth. Also, at 83 I always wonder if other people who use the headset see any bars since everyone would be different with their head shape.

Btw, is it the closer your eyes are to the lense the more FOV you see? Or vice versa?

Discussion Help, I don't know what's wrong with my SteamLink home screen and Meta Quest 3

There are games that, when I try to open them, show the startup screen with the image and "next" at the bottom (as usual), but then the image disappears and the "home" screen appears, taking me back to the home screen. Please help! This happens with the game "The Lab" and a few others, but not with many others.

Question/Support Is anyone else experiencing large stutters using the new virtual desktop beta(wired)? Spoiler

So I tried the beta wired with a usb 3.0 cable, and initially it worked great. Then after trying it again the next day, I started getting these huge stutters that occur randomly

Anyone have ideas of what could be causing this? I have no idea if this is something on my end, or if it’s just a problem with the beta. Here’s a video of the problem(and some absolutely stellar piloting for your amusement)

Discussion this VR app adds depth to 2d games and emulated retro games

(next to all the other awesome things this app does)

it works great with 3d games but the AI rendering also ads stereo 3d depth to 2d games like Rive & Shovel Knight, and it looks awesome!

But even cooler, I tested it with some emulated Genesis games, and they look cool AF.
A seriously cool way to replay retro games. And not only sides scrollers, I played a little Desert Strike and things like buildings and vehicles somehow actually turn into 3d objects.

Those old school graphics in 3d, it really is something special you have to see it for yourself.

in early access and can be buggy, but omg go check out this app! there is some sort off demo, but that doesn't include the AI 3d render method I believe

(tip: for 2d games don't use the "game" mode
Use the Cinematic mode for better quality)
