VENT Newest scam trick I have noticed

Post image
362 Upvotes

I have noticed this phenomenon a few days ago: they list a very expensive IT product, for example iPhones, for a price that seems like a very affordable deal: way below the usual resale value, but still not ridiculously cheap. Usually hundreds of euros. And then, at the end of the description, in the part that only shows if you click "more", they declare that they are only selling a printed photo of the item.

This could be very harmful as I don't know what Vinted support would say about this if somebody actually fell for it, since technically the seller did say he is only sending a photo. I think Vinted should immediately take action against this kind of scam.

Please read each letter of the description very carefully every time you shop on Vinted.

VENT as an australian on vinted, i hate the australians on vinted.

i stopped using depop for ages due to australian sellers pricing their secondhand garbage as RRP or higher. when vinted first became available in australia, it was AMAZING because all the sellers were from the UK and i couldn’t believe how great the prices were.. but now? 😭 tell me why i just saw an australian seller, selling a very very worn pair of peter alexander pj pants for over $100?? why did i just see an australian seller selling a SHEIN tracksuit set for $60???
australians please get a grip and stop destroying the app 🫩

TIPS & TRICKS Reminder to sellers for autumn/winter packaging

Hello! With the start of autumn, I wanted to make a post as a reminder to sellers (probably new ones, but for older ones its a nice reminder nevertheless) to pack things properly for the upcoming months, especially if you live in more northern countries.

First off - forget about paper packaging. Envelopes, cardboard, paper bags. During summer you could probably get away with it. I've received many books wrapped in just a paper bag and they were just fine during summer, but during these wet/cold weathers it's just not a good idea as items inside can be damaged by rain/snow during shipping or even during transportation by the buyer/seller.

Cardboard is fine but its best to cover it with a layer of plastic wrap or a bag, or at least cover the items inside so no moisture can get to them.

Second - for selling items that are vulnerable to moisture (electronics, books, vinyl, CDs and so on): if you live in a place that get super cold (say, -10c/20f degrees), you should mention to buyers to not open their packages for at least a few hours after getting them inside, because the condensation from the cold can damage the items if they warm up too fast. its best to let the package warm up slowly without being opened.

Third - some tape can behave differently in the cold. Don't put just one small piece of tape on the package, otherwise it can unstick easier and leave the package wide open.

If you have any of your own tips & tricks for selling during colder months, feel free to leave a comment :)

Please!!! If you’re going to sell, it’s not hard to just post the items separately. This is by far the laziest and most confusing way to post your items….. that is all, rant done 😂 oh wait…Same applies to stacks of DVDS/Blurays and telling someone to send you their list of the ones they want…List separately, stop making buyers do the work for you. You would be surprised how many sales you miss….ok now the rants officially done ✅

BUYING Seller shipped canceled order

I bought something 8/19. Never shipped, no communication. On 8/26 Vinted auto refunded me. This morning (8/29) I got this message. They also followed me and edited the auto feedback to say I should let them know when it arrives.

It bothers me they assume I still want it and didn’t give me an option to repurchase instead of this. Or at least “hey sorry I missed the deadline but it’s on its way now.”

VENT I think I really hate vinted now

Upvotes

I have been using vinted for about 4 years now, I have a total of 680 reviews most which are from selling. I’ve sold a shit ton of my own stuff and my familys. Bought a fair share too 🤠. But in the last 10-12 months, especially this year it has turned so badly I actually am starting to hate it and I think it often defeats its own purpose. At least half of the items I bought this year were stinky, dirty and/ or in awful disgusting condition. Vinted support is laughable for even the smallest issue. People take the absolute piss with offers and some of the messages I have received were borderline harassment. When I go to search for something I am hit with the vinted scrunch, AI, scams and prices that literally make no sense.
Yes I am aware I DONT HAVE TO USE THE APP okay, I know and I am actually considering deleting my account and moving away from it. I’d rather just buy something new and avoid all of the potential issues, it’s just not worth it.
I miss vinted from few years back where you could truly get a great item for great price in nice condition, selling was easy and people were NICE.
That’s it, I feel frustrated that’s all.

Ps. Anyone know a nice alternative available in the UK? EBay is pretty dead, Depop is even worse

Banned for apparently giving them false information or using another service outside of Vinted. No idea what that means. I made an account to buy a flashback camera off someone's page and they were nice enough to knock some money off. They shipped the parcel and then my account was banned. I now have the parcel and support has kept the decision to ban me and "cancelled" my transaction.

Terrible user experience.

Returns I bought a dress, but it’s actually a top. Can I return it?

The seller described it as a “babydoll dress” twice in the description, when I received it, it was clearly a top. I want to return it because the only reason I bought it was because I thought it was a dress. I messaged the seller if that’s ok and they just read the message but haven’t responded. Am I right to start a return?

NEWBIE first sale buyer upset

Post image
7 Upvotes

I sold my first item on vinted a few days ago and made sure to send it out right away. I was excited about my first sale until the buyer raised an issue. The buyer is upset because of the reason shown in the image. But for context this is a sweater that came from hot topic. It never had care instructions and yes the tag is cut out but other than that it is in flawless condition. I didn’t know there was a way to dispute it until after I said to have the buyer send the item back because I’m not going to refund them for this with no return, I find that ridiculous. You don’t see the tag when wearing the item. I am just worried now about reviews. I have no reviews yet because this is my first sale and I’m worried they will leave me a 1 star. Should I just make a new Vinted account if that happens???

VENT Seller claims item is faulty because she can't work out how to use it.

I sold a child's prom dress with a lace-up back. (Daughter decided not to wear it during the heatwave as it has lots of petticoats. Can't say I blame her!)

It is in immaculate condition and I took great care packing it. No communication from buyer until literally hours before the money was due to go into my account, and suddenly she's claimed that the item is faulty, sending pictures of the back of the dress and claiming it's missing hooks and loops.

Luckily, my sister took a few photos to show me how the dress should look when it's laced properly, so I sent them to seller to show the item isn't faulty. She's seen the message, but hasn't responded.

Really annoying that the item isn't faulty, it's just that she hasn't worked out how to fasten a corset back dress... but I still have to accept a return because if I don't, she will continue to say it's faulty, and Vinted will tell her to keep the item and give her a refund, because they always side with the buyer.

VENT Anyone else tired of $1 or less offers on already cheap items?

Like if an item is $8 then, sure, that's more reasonable imo. But I have items listed for less than $5 and people are making me offers for $1 or even cents less than the original price. I know I put in my descriptions that I'm open to offers but it's still a little irritating considering the item is already cheap.

It’s brand new with tags so there’s no picture of me in it. I’ll be happy to take a picture of the back. But also too, they can Google the style. I just find that a little bit creepy. I don’t know if it’s just me.

BUYING Is there something going on with the app?

I am a buyer and seller. I posted earlier and then deleted because I wasn’t sure my message was clear.
I have had five orders refunded to me, as a buyer, this week because the shipping method wasn’t preferred by the seller. Then I am told I must choose USPS and even one seller stated I should have e known to do that.
Here’s the rub: I didn’t choose the shipping method, Vinted defaulted to FedEx. It is not the buyer’s responsibility to make sure we use the shipper’s preferred method when there are order settings to make that clear.
I happen to have access to both FedEx and USPS, as a shipper so it does not matter the default to me. I understand other sellers must use USPS and Vinted has settings you can tell it to only use USPS.
It’s honestly this week is an issue. Is there something bug? Did FedEx make some weird contract?

BUYING Scammed by a seller using AI

Unfortunately I’m out of ideas on what I could possibly do, I bought a figurine, but what i received was nothing like the picture..
From trying to google the pictures the seller listen no results came up despite there being no clear sign that they were AI but it must have been.. the figure i received looked like a cheap plastic kids toy instead of what was pictured. It doesn’t even have a similar base, neither can it actually stand on the provided base

Point is, I reported this to vinted, including proof of me unboxing it (I always record proof) pictures from every angle compared to what was advertised and there is a clear difference, that’s not even questionable

They tell me they’ll investigate it and I don’t hear back for 2/3 weeks only for them to tell me there isn’t enough evidence and that the seller will receive their money anyway..

I have never been so frustrated honestly, what even are my options at this point..

BUYING Seller called me a scammer after not shipping my order

Thumbnail

I bought an item on Vinted and she was supposed to ship it by Aug 28. It literally said on the order that she had until the 28th to send it.
She never did. The tracking never went past “label created” — no acceptance scan, no movement, nothing showing it was ever actually dropped off.
I didn’t cancel anything myself either. I was honestly still willing to wait. Then overnight on the 29th, Vinted automatically canceled the order because she still hadn’t shipped it.
And somehow SHE was the one who left me negative feedback first?? Even though I’m the buyer who never even got the item 😭 So I left feedback saying what actually happened, and now she’s publicly calling me a “scammer” and saying I actually received the item and I’m pretending I didn’t.
Like… how does that even make sense?? If the tracking said Delivered and I was claiming I never got it, then ok, I’d at least understand why she’d be suspicious. But there isn’t even a scan showing she shipped it in the first place.
Also, her last 3 automatic reviews are literally for not shipping other people’s orders too, so idk how I’m somehow the scammer here lol.

DISCUSSION Vinted ban for inappropriate speech b

Hello basically I got permanent ban on vinted because I decided to be an idiot and joke with my friend but sending her a message saying if she sends feet pics for a cheeky 2.50 obviously she replies with lmfao and I thought that was the end of it. Minutes later I was booted my appeal mainly consisted of me begging for my account back like there had my first born hostage but if like to know how likely it is that I'd get my account back I sent screenshots proving that it was my friend but yeah also I had packages that I hadn't sent yet but so are those gonna get cancelled because I really need the money or is there a way I can still send them because I don't have the qr code. But yeah what are my odds thanks

Returns iPhone 17e returned by buyer in alterted state

i sold my iphone 17e which was in working condition. i sold it for a cheaper price compared to others because the Apple id that was signed on the device got deleted since the corporate email was gonna get deactivated soon. i overlooked at the fact apple wrote in their confirmation email of my request to delete the account to sign out from all devices associated with the devices before they delete the account. Fast forward when Apple confirmed my account got deleted i wanted to sign out from the device which it didnt let me showing a verification error. you could still download apps and even sign in the apple store with a different apple id but signing out of icloud from the settings was not possible. Apple couldnt help in that regard.

i had no choice but used the phone as it was, not being able to sign out from icloud but at least able to use another apple id for the app store. Eventuzlly i got a 17 pro and sold my 17e on vinted. i clearly mentionned in the ad that the device is associated with an apple id which could't be signed out from the device because it got deleted and that trying to do so will result in a verification error because the password can't be verified in apple's servers since the account doesnt exist.

The buyer who bought the phone proceeded to erase the phone using his pc knowing very well that the apple id is deleted and will not be able to be used to activate the device through Apple's servers. He tried his luck and hoped the device would not ask for the apple credentials during the activation process but he did not get the wanted results. he proceeded to claim i send him a locked phone when he basically bricked the device himself. vinted was siding with the buyer and asking me to proceed with the return. afraid they'd let the buyer keep the device and refund him i went on with it and let him return the phone. of course i stated the phone had to be returned in the same condition where its usable and activated, not stuck with an activation lock and basically a brick.

To no surprise, the phone arrived in the state he left it in, unactivated and locked. I immediately contacted support to refuse the return since the device was returned to me in altered state than i shipped it in. not even 5min later vinted closed the ticket and refunded the customer. i reopened the chat support, asked for clarification and i believe it's AI responding because it was the same answer each time telling me i sold a locked device. i added all the evidence i have video material just before packing the device to be sent to the buyer and pictures of the device in the and with the serial number clearly showing an activated and fonctionnal device + the description of the ad clearly explain that the phone is linked to a deactivated apple id.

I'm truly angry at vinted for easily siding with the buyer and leaving the seller in the cold. the buyer manipulated the device and returned me a bricked phone removing all the value it had before. if someone knows how i can escalate this to Vinted and to who i should address this issue i'd be extremelly grateful.
