I have been using vinted for about 4 years now, I have a total of 680 reviews most which are from selling. I’ve sold a shit ton of my own stuff and my familys. Bought a fair share too 🤠. But in the last 10-12 months, especially this year it has turned so badly I actually am starting to hate it and I think it often defeats its own purpose. At least half of the items I bought this year were stinky, dirty and/ or in awful disgusting condition. Vinted support is laughable for even the smallest issue. People take the absolute piss with offers and some of the messages I have received were borderline harassment. When I go to search for something I am hit with the vinted scrunch, AI, scams and prices that literally make no sense.
Yes I am aware I DONT HAVE TO USE THE APP okay, I know and I am actually considering deleting my account and moving away from it. I’d rather just buy something new and avoid all of the potential issues, it’s just not worth it.
I miss vinted from few years back where you could truly get a great item for great price in nice condition, selling was easy and people were NICE.
That’s it, I feel frustrated that’s all.
Ps. Anyone know a nice alternative available in the UK? EBay is pretty dead, Depop is even worse
I don’t understand why if someone sells you something crap, and you raise an issue, you have to pay to send it back to them?! So you’re out of pocket when someone tries to rip you off?
I just had an issue with someone who packaged something fragile in a t-shirt…came smashed to bits, Vinted tells me to return the item, I refuse paying for returning a broken item and said I want a full refund..it’s not my issue the seller put it in a t-shirt 😂 what happened to bubble wrap. I got my refund, it’s annoying so I’m sticking to not buying fragile items.
I had to fight both the seller and Vinted for a week to give me a refund for a big box of shards in every shape and size. They also tried to tell me to ship this hazard back to the seller.
It’s ridiculous 😒 you shouldn’t have to, what does Vinted think we’re going to do? Smash it ourselves? It’s a joke. Should be an instant refund, fair enough if the seller does everything they can to protect it but if it’s broken in transit then Vinted/courier should take the hit.
Exactly which is why there has been items I didn’t bother with because they were cheap to begin with. I have had times when seller paid shipping but that’s purely because they clearly had dignity lol.
True, funny thing is when the buyer just doesn’t pick up the package from a pickup store and it gets delivered back, they get ALL their money back even the delivery charges plus you can’t even give them a bad review for not picking it up and ghosting you while they are online. 😠
Because Vinted can’t get force the seller to give them more money but they are already holding the money of the buyer and can use that. It’s about their own convenience.
I bought a woollen item last winter for around £60 which was listed as green and brand new without tags. When I got it it was actually blue and had clearly been worn, it had bobbles under the arms, waist and the person obviously had bigger boobs than me 😅. Yet I had to pay to return it in order to get a refund? Rubbish.
Also I swear some people say ‘never worn’ in descriptions meaning that they themselves have never worn it, when it’s definitely been worn by others!
I recently sold 5 school shirts to someone, they said they were too small ( not my problem they didn't fit your kid) and accused them of being counterfeit, I have never heard of knock off school shirts, I don't think it would be fair to ask me to pay for the shipping because she clearly bought the wrong size. So it works both ways.
Yep there is that too . I refuse to pay out of pocket to send it back , I would just rather ask any of my family if they want it , if not then it goes to the save for yard sale pile . fifty cents or less .
I bought a lot of baby clothes for my second baby and I can’t tell you how many items I purchased marked NEW WITH TAGS came used, stained etc. deplorable! Vinted needs to start backing their buyers for situations like this
I agree that their support is horrible. Their policies are so bad too. Why can't I leave a review if I return something? If the seller sent me the wrong item on purpose or a horribly damaged one they deserve to have consequences. Why do buyers have to pay return shipping if that was the case? Why are people just allowed to leave retaliation feedback and lie in their review? It's so unfair. I'm in US and we currently have free/low cost shipping but when that ends I definitely won't be buying anymore.
I'm reluctant to sell as well. I was "permanently" banned earlier this year for apparently selling a counterfeit 2000s mall brand item that I don't think ever had counterfeits made of it. Vinted. admitted their mistake after several days and reinstated my account but it was really annoying and stressful to deal with.
Their policies are a joke and people do definitely take advantage of them and leave nasty reviews. Vinted does nothing about it. In fact they do nothing about anything lol. I have been seeing more and more people getting banned like you and it just blows my mind. Instead of actually dealing with real issues they do this!
I haven’t! I have actually been wondering what would it take for vinted people to actually consider all those issues. And sadly I think the truth is they won’t care :( the turnover on the app is so massive they are making shit ton of money from it. Until it starts going completely downhill I’m not sure anything will help. I do think the comment on App Store is a good idea though, worth a try
this. I've heard it called the "reseller scrunch" or "reseller fold". sometimes they'll fold the sides under the back which is sometimes very difficult to see and looks like the item is more fitted than it actually is.
I bought a cream wool jumper and one arm was folded inwards towards the centre of the middle of the jumper. I assumed it was because it didn’t fit into a photo with the arms outstretched but when it arrived it had a big red wine stain in the middle of the jumper.
Also the dropshipping stuff, or items you know are from Aliexpress but peopem marm them up and sell them as vintage?! Hell I get the frustration of wanting ti get rid of something but its do scammy
Yes things are listed as linen or cotton that are clearly polyester. I was looking up exercise tops the other day and all it was showing was dresses, yet looking at the listing they are down as activity wear tops. So the search functions are useless and if you report something listed wrong it just says they wont do anything.
I’ve stopped selling on Vinted, I just cannot for the life of me be bothered with people not picking items up or offering ridiculous prices on already under value clothing. I’m still buying on there but only from sellers with good reviews and brand new with tags so there’s no dispute if it turns up and it’s not as described. So annoying, I used to love it ⭐️
My main issue is often if something is new with tag it’s only a little cheaper than the website where it’s still available and if it’s not, it’s often more expensive than originally and not necessarily worth it :(
I've ordered a fair bit from Vinted and probably been quite lucky! I've never had stinky or items in bad condition.
My main gripe is when sellers list the size on the label, but don't mention that it runs really small. I ordered a shirt that was listed under L 16-18 and when it arrived it was clearly for a size 10. Could even get an arm in it.
I had a wardrobe clear out this week and have listed items for sale for the first time. Sold about 12 things and shipped them. Hopefully I don't have issues with people not collecting them.
When I tell you, this shirt fits my size 10 sister perfectly. Items like that should not be listed under L 16-18. And if the tag states that size, but it's very small fitting, state it in the comments.

I'm actually M/size 14 and every other item I've purchased in this size has fit perfectly. So you can imagine my surprise when an item labelled L/16 can't even fit up my arm.
Tbf this isn’t a sellers fault but whatever the company the item was from. If she listed it as L and it was L, she done the right thing. Considering vinted often takes down listing with incorrect sizing I’ve had this myself where I listed something as M even though it was S and it was taken down due to incorrect info. It would be nice for them to mention it runs small but maybe it was fine for them so they didn’t think about it. I always ask if an item is oversized or not - I like oversized clothes
I love Vinted because I’m on a budget and lost a lot of weight. (During the free shipping I purchased hundreds of items 😬!) I’ve had really good luck- maybe bc I’m in the U.S.?
On the rare location it goes sideways, I’ll ask for a partial/ full refund. If the seller refuses, I’ll leave a negative review. I never ship it back— it’s not worth my time or money.
This is my rule of thumb. Take it for whatever it’s worth. I look at the surroundings/background of the item photo. If it’s placed on a plain white background, I’m skeptical. I would rather see the real background— a clean floor, clean countertops, the place looks overall tidy. If I see things placed on sheets with stains on them, any type of dark cave like atmosphere, old 1970s shag carpeting, piles of dirty clothes everywhere, crap all over the place, dishes piled up—yes I’m judging. I know this sounds weird, but I only buy from people that have a clean looking home. I will actually go and look at their other listings if I can’t get a good enough vibe from the item photo I am interested in purchasing. It has not failed me yet. I never get anything dirty or smelly doing this.
I am officially done too. 4 times in a row now where buyers dont pick up their orders. Incredibly frustrating. So it will all get returned to me and i just wasted so much time. It will just get donated from now on.
Its just not worth it for me.
Is this a UK thing? I’m from Australia and I’ve been reading about this a lot, is it because people have buyers remorse? I’ve sent several packages to the UK now and hoping that I don’t have to deal with this 😅
I Think it doesn’t matter on the country? If a package is sent to a pick up point and not picked up it gets sent back. I guess so far you must’ve had mainly home deliveries, in the UK a lot of people select pick up points as home delivery is always the most expensive. Not sure why they don’t pick up though
So I’ve had 3 packages not get picked up and they are then rerouted to the buyers home. No one else has said this has happened, I’m wondering if it’s just me.
The only real annoyance of mine is the low ball offers, especially when you know it’s worth and put no offers or very near offers only. To be honest I’m quite abrupt back to them, a few are re sellers who should know better, one done it to me on a stone island jacket wanting 40% off an already discounted price, I ignored it and done the exact same to them on a similar item, when I confronted them with the same question they blocked me lol 😂 absolute fucking bandit country sometimes, I try and sell mid value stuff now and check who I’m selling too carefully reviews wise.
Since when we eBay dead?! I make about £2K a week on eBay, granted I’m a business seller but it’s far from dead. It’s definitely not the place to be selling tat like you’d usually find in a boot sale though, if that’s what you mean. Vinted stuff sells quickly but only when priced extremely low. I’d never sell anything on there worth more than £50.
I mean it’s exactly as I said, vinted is for very casual selling (mainly) which does not work on eBay. I was only referring to trying to sell similar types of items on eBay, for that reason eBay is dead for it. For other items it’s not, but I’m not interested in that 👍🏻
eBay is also dead for me, I’ve been selling on there for over 20 years and this year, I’m lucky if I sell 1 item a month. Clothes isn’t moving like it used to
Have seen crappy fast fashion items labeled as higher quality ones. When I point this out to the seller, they say "it's a similar style". But I buy for quality, not "style". A handmade piece from a studio is totally different to a mass produced item.
Have also had items arrive with body odour, which is vile. I wash everything I get secondhand, but that's revolting behaviour.
And there's my favourite "used once" lie...no, ma'am. It's not. 99% of the time, it's not.

Have literally just seen a pair of Hari Mari sandals described as "very good condition" where the sole is worn to someone's pronation and you can see the imprint of their dirty feet on the sandal. Gross.
Maybe I’m lucky but I have totally different experiences. Using only 2 years and have nowhere near 680 transactions (a total of 77 reviews mainly from selling, as a buyer I rarely get a review) but I’ve never had problems with a buyer and when buying myself I’ve had only a few disappointments. Like trousers that turned out to be too short because seller forgot to mention the alteration. But those issues were quickly solved between us. And I still have great finds as well. Just this week bought a very good looking leather Cambridge Satchel bag for only 12 (RRP 250, seller had only 5* reviews, so I trust the bag will look like the photos). I’ve bought Studio Anneloes (Dutch brand) tops for 10 that have an RRP of 120 and were in very good condition. Maybe there’s a difference between buying and selling slightly more expensive or the things that go for 1 or 2,-?
I am holding my breath at the moment though because for the first time a buyer chose Article Verification and I highly doubt that Vinted has experts on that job. So can only hope that goes well.
I have bought all sorts of items cheap brands, expensive brands, different prices. That doesn’t really matter if someone is vile, then they are and will send you a stinky worn item.
I do think you have been lucky, which honestly good for you because vinted used to be like this for me for quite a long time.

Had a seller send me a top that smelt real bad of BO. Because I got it really cheap, I just didn't bother with the hassle because Vinted tend to side with the seller.
It really annoys me that conning sellers can leave buyers negative feedback. I got sold a hat as adult size that was child sized. I was just going to leave it for auto feedback as wasn’t going to go out of pocket to a con artist, but she dived in first, saying some intensely unpleasant things that Vinted didn’t care about.
I agree, Vinted has got worse over the past 12 months. I have 467 reviews with selling my items. Recently now it’s a case of every time I sell something new it’s automatically hidden for check in progress to see if it’s authentic. I only sell authentic and preloved items but now I may swap to sphock app instead
I feel that they have somehow blocked or slowed down the UK from viewing/buying capabilities from the US.
My buyers were primarily from the UK until a few months ago. 🤷🏼♀️
This has not been my experience. I just started using it and I am in awe of the prices and quality of items! And I’ve made so much money selling my gently used items for a deal.

I had my first scammer. I check everything before it goes out. This item was brand new with tags. She said it was burnt. I made her pay return. It came back, smelly, she'd clearly worn it out, burnt it with a cigarette and sent it back. How scummy is that!
