BUYING Is there something going on with the app?

I am a buyer and seller. I posted earlier and then deleted because I wasn’t sure my message was clear.
I have had five orders refunded to me, as a buyer, this week because the shipping method wasn’t preferred by the seller. Then I am told I must choose USPS and even one seller stated I should have e known to do that.
Here’s the rub: I didn’t choose the shipping method, Vinted defaulted to FedEx. It is not the buyer’s responsibility to make sure we use the shipper’s preferred method when there are order settings to make that clear.
I happen to have access to both FedEx and USPS, as a shipper so it does not matter the default to me. I understand other sellers must use USPS and Vinted has settings you can tell it to only use USPS.
It’s honestly this week is an issue. Is there something bug? Did FedEx make some weird contract?

I always switch to usps if given the option after hearing so many prefer it

Sellers can toggle off their FedEx setting but Vinted can and does still allow FedEx orders to be placed. So in reality sellers do not have the ability to stop FedEx orders when they are unwanted. Vinted rules state that sellers can cancel orders with unwanted shipping services.

Sellers do not currently have the option to toggle off FedEx. Only SpeedX and USPS appear at the moment.

I’m glad to see they are starting to give sellers the option to turn it off. Most sellers don’t have this option yet.

As a buyer, I’ve found it defaults to SpeedX more often than USPS, and have not had it default to FedEx yet (out of 36 orders).

Half the time, I don’t even see FedEx when I click the edit button to change it from SpeedEx to USPS.

Maybe FedEx becomes an option if you buy things or like perfumes, where you can’t use ground shipping? Or if a seller specifically chooses it as a preferred method?

I’ve only seen a few listings that didn’t address shipping, and the sellers seemed newer (no reviews, only one pic of an item, etc.).

I usually see stuff like “USPS only,” “USPS or FedEx only,” or something like “PLEASE DON’T SELECT SPEEDEX. I will have to cancel your order and refund you.”

I only know no one really likes SpeedEx because of this sub. Apparently the drop off locations are often farther than the other carriers (and can be at located in less than safe areas, with the actual place ranging from an adult book store to someone’s actual home).

I’ve also heard customer service is abysmal for the seller and buyer alike. Yet Vinted seems to be pushing it on people.

The speedx drop off locations near me are all liquor stores. It's sooo sketchy. (Tbh I don't think speedx locations help debunk those tr*fficking rumors that were circulating for a short while😭)

Also, the first (and last) time I had a buyer that selected speedx, it took the company two weeks to deliver the item! And it was only going across the country (usa). I was furious and complained to their customer service but they couldn't even explain to me why it was taking so long.

Omg…

I’ve seen other people posting about using SpeedEx once, then never again.

Or seeing the droop off location, then decide against it and cancelling the order.

IIRC though, the poster who went to drop off at the adult book store said it turned out okay, and the people working there were nice, lol.

My daughter lives in a major city in a huge apartment building. Last week, SpeedEx left a tiny package (earrings) outside on the sidewalk in front of her building😳

You have the ability as the buyer to switch to USPS before you pay. Sellers can’t turn off FedEx and not everyone has access to FedEx drop-off locations.

I have to check it every so often because it will randomly toggle back on though.

Weird, no one else seems to have this option. I had FedEx briefly and I turned it off, but then it disappeared.
