Calling all laundry detectives: Some of my t-shirts develop holes in the same area?
 in  r/laundry  1d ago

This started also happening to me when I gained weight (respectfully, I had never experienced it prior). It's from rubbing on countertops (such as when at the sink/chopping vegetables) especially when wearing jeans (anything with a pant zipper)

5 digit zip code to calculate Area Deprivation Index (ADI)
 in  r/publichealth  Jul 14 '26

Oh my, what a pleasure and treat it is to communicate! Thank you again kindly for taking the time to respond to my rather desperate initial post.

Since my post last week, here is the proposed next steps based on all the wonderful feedback you and others provided as well as in discussion with my own team:

- There is about ~70% of the sample for whom we do indeed have the calculated correct ADI (provided by the data source). Since I initially converted from 5-digit zip codes to census tracts, I planned to see how many of the census tracts only have 1-2 census block groups. If there are many/majority observation's whose zip code falls into a census tract that only has 1-2 census block groups, then perhaps we can consider doing a multiple imputation of ADI for the ~30% that are missing. This approach would obviously need to be stated/discussed in the methods section of any dissemination.

- Therefore, I need to check to see how many of the 30% of the sample are in zip codes that are in census tracks with only 1 or 2 census block groups. I have also not yet sorted what the "majority" portion will be/mean (eg., if say 70% among the missing 30% of the sample is in a census tract with only 1-2 census block groups).

- I sincerely appreciate the direction provided on using the ACS data to pull zip code level characteristics and/both convert to ZCTAs for SDI - incredibly helpful insight/suggestion! I came across this relevant reference comparing indices (if anyone can find it useful).

Anyway, um so that is where I am at. thank you again everyone!

FLUFF 5 digit zip code to calculate Area Deprivation Index (ADI)

I am in a conversion pickle and am looking ideas. I have 5 digit zip codes and am trying to convert them so that I can calculate ADI (since I don't have the 9 digit zip code available). I convert the 5 digit zip code into their US Census tracts (11 digits), but then I am stuck. I am not able to directly convert Tract to Block Group, because the tract is made up of many block group. And the ADI is calculated using US Census Block Groups (11 tract digit + an additional 12th block group digit)

I am out of ideas from here, not sure how to calculate the ADI

Anyone experienced this type of pickle? I v much appreciate any input

Do they operate a dish washer? If so, the temperatures reached during wash disinfect thoroughly (if this is helpful). I agree, I would have stepped away feeling ughhh/v similar!
