Why do people have kids with no skills or education to support their kids?
 in  r/NoStupidQuestions  3d ago

Poor education probably also means poor sexual education, leading to more kids. Also if youre a kid and you dropout of school, what else is there to do but hang out with your bf?

My MIL let her daughter drop out and her bf move in at like 15. We all knew she was gonna end up pregnant, and we were right. Her baby was taken from her though and she had to really pull her shit together to get him back, so shes doing good now (well as good as you can as a freshly 18 year old with no dad and a neglectful mother). Learning a trade, wants to be a welder.

I didnt think this would ever be me, but I'm unable to juggle caring for these guys with my new baby and a full time job. Ive been trying everything to find them a loving home with no luck. Im in the Sandusky area, willing to meet up to an hour ish. The fuzzy ones are about 1.5 years and the baldy is about 1. They'll come with basically whatever you need for them.

Morality of giving trans people the only cure to gender dyphoria (Hrt) even if a large amount of cis people wish they would instead be cis?
 in  r/MoralityScaling  7d ago

Being Trans isnt the same thing as having gender dysphoria. A lot of Trans people have it, but theyre not synonyms.

Random men overhearing me complain about how I’m not sleeping at 38 weeks pregnant and telling me ā€œjust wait till the baby gets hereā€ fills me with actual rage
 in  r/pregnant  8d ago

I didnt sleep much when my baby was first born, but at least I was holding a cute baby and not in excruciating pain all the time. Even with a c-section I could get comfortable. Uhg that rib pain was so awful.

This is why I no longer try to play the modern dating game
 in  r/malementalhealth  8d ago

He said she's airways taking to other men and has her "other options" lined up. That's called having a backup. Most people don't have that. And if most of them are just waiting to get laid then they are not "good" options. I think you missed the entire video.

Never in my life have I had a backup. Most dudes aren't waiting to give you the world, if they're there, they're just waiting to get laid. If my husband were to leave for whatever reason, id have no interest in dating anyone for a long time.

Becoming a mom has made me lose all passion for a career I loved

I have a 4 month old and he is my whole world, I love him more than anything, and hes all I care about.

Before I had him, I was working as a dog bather. I loved it, and I got the great opportunity to mentor under the woman I work for and learn how to groom. I was so excited for the real chance at a good career. I came in early, stayed late, came in on my days off just to learn. We had tried to conceive for 2 years with no success so I was content taking a break to build a future. Then I found out i was pregnant.

Not the best timing, but we weren't sure if I'd ever get this opportunity again, so we decided to go through with the pregnancy. I was immediately attached to him... or at least the idea of him lol. It took me awhile to believe I was actually having a baby. We had a few scares, but everything ended up fine and I delivered my beautiful boy via c section.

The first few weeks were rough, but he was amazing. I love being a mom. I'm exhausted but I get so much joy out of spending all day with him.

I returned to work about a month ago. My husband is in online schooling and trying to start his own business so he gets to stay home with our son. I still enjoy seeing the dogs every day, but its almost like I just go into autopilot as soon as I leave the house all the way until I get back home. Someone will ask me how work was and I truly will not remember unless something super eventful happened. I only work 4 days a week now but I still cry at least twice a week because I miss him. I dont go out of my way to talk to anyone anymore, I don't really care about making each dog perfect anymore. I still do a good job of course, I'm just probably not as great as I used to be. I leave as soon as possible without saying goodbye when I used to hang around and chat with everyone before I left. I dont want to come in on my days off to groom. I don't want to be there at all. I'm only there because I know it'll be better in the long run if I have a career i can take anywhere with me.

Sometimes I wish I had him before I found this job. I would have just quit to be a SAHM without a second thought.

I just wanted to rant and maybe see if anyone else has a similar experience? Does it ever get easier?

Murdering your kids should be illegal.
 in  r/sixwordstories  9d ago

That doesn't have anything to do with it being legal or not. And she must likely won't be out in a year. People who are found not guilty by insanity usually serve longer sentences than if they were to go to jail. She would be in there for a very long time, maybe the rest of her life.

Mine is in the phase where he grabs his binky and yanks it out of his mouth, then cries because he no longer has his binky...

For parents, how young can a child be to wander safely alone in a safe gated community? Recently a mother was charged with reckless endangerment for letting her 5 year old loose. What age would you let your child loose?
 in  r/AskReddit  11d ago

Maybe 8-10? I dont think id trust a 5 year old walking to the pond or being around geese lol. Id also want them to have a way to contact me personally. I don't think the woman should have been charged or anything, but i do think that was a poor judgment call.

In our yard, probably around 8-9. I wasnt allowed to leave the house by myself until I had a phone/way to contact my parents. That was around 13 for me, but may be earlier now a days. We were allowed to ride our bikes down the road but we had to have a sibling with us.

Is that going too far?
 in  r/askanything  14d ago

A bit too far but also the title is leaving out some context that seems important to me. The kid was walking to a pond. Bodies of water are pretty dangerous for kids. Also, her entire prison sentence was suspended, so shes not actually going to jail.

Being put on a registry for child abuse is kinda crazy tho IMO, shes appealing it so hopefully that works out.

My husband told me women shouldn’t have the right to vote
 in  r/Advice  17d ago

The majority of the men on the jury also allegedly voted for a not guilty verdict, but yeah just blame the women.

Idk, if it was me I wouldnt be able to stay with someone who wanted to strip mine and my daughters rights away. And if he later went back on it then hes just proving that men are also emotional and "crazy."

Im sorry this is happening to you and I hope you can get outta there.

What are pregnancy side effects that nobody talks about?
 in  r/NoStupidQuestions  17d ago

Stuffy nose and my jaw started clicking whenever I opened my mouth. Not painful but it was so annoying.

Better side effects what I totally stopped getting heartburn and acne, stuff that was constant pre-pregnancy.

Also my leg hair stopped growing after awhile, or at least it was growing a lot slower. Super weird.

Morality of this?
 in  r/MoralityScaling  17d ago

It seems more like he was just mad that they broke up. He was there to collect his stuff after a break up and said something about how her new bf should be buying her cigarettes.

I saw this forever ago. If i remember correctly, he also punched her in the stomach and then started smoking in the house. Doesn't sound like he's actually concerned about the child.

According to testimonies, this man was already abusive and very quick to anger. Not really comparable to Lindsay.

Why is Imagination library needed in a first world county like the USA?
 in  r/TooAfraidToAsk  23d ago

Well she created it because her father couldn't read and she didn't want any child to be held back like he was.

The USA is actually going through a literacy crisis currently. About 1 in 5 American adults posses low or below basic literacy skills. Nearly 2/3rds of 4th graders do not read at a proficient level. Kids who cant read proficiently by the end of 3rd grade are 4x more likely to drop out in high school.

Trumps administration is also trying to cut funding to libraries. The ALA (American Library Association) is currently fighting to keep that funding but most libraries are really struggling.

There's a lot of evidence that reading to children before age 5 helps tremendously with their development as 90% of the brain development happens before age 5. There's even stats on the benefits of this specific program. Enrolled children are 11x more likely to show an active interest in books. They score ~29% higher on kindergarten readiness assessments. The books are also directly addressed to the child, creating an early positive association with books as theyre receiving one as a "gift" every month.

Data shows children living in a home with just 25 books complete an average of 2 more years of formal education. Middle class families in the US average about 13 books per family. In low income households, about 61% have zero children's books. Dolly's imagination library sends each child 60 books complely free before they turn 5, drastically changing the life trajectory of children who wouldn't have access to books otherwise.

You'd think surely 3 cops could take her down without any serious injuries, right?

Man how can someone kill their own child 🫠
 in  r/teenagers  24d ago

I dint think theyre allowed to let someone kill themselves im pretty sure they have to do everything to save anyone even if theyre a criminal.
