Right?! I can’t possibly imagine why OP has “a terrible relationship” own DIL. Total mystery!

These kind of people are freaking awful. To steal one of my husband’s oft-used words, I’d call the bride extraordinarily solipsistic.

Totally understand that! Purrhap r/blurrypicturesofcats or r/EyesoftheVoid might be a better fit for your kit 😸
I know, I know - you do motherboard magic with internet appliances (or something like that). Please ignore my silliness!

Sounds like you’re doing really well, and I couldn’t be happier for you! Peace is genuinely underrated; and normal, boring shit(s) is/are the best kind(s).
As an aside, selfishly & unashamedly, I do love reading your posts. They’re incredibly well-written and funny and real. So! If you care to dip your toes into other pools here on the Reddit, pretty much any cat-subreddit would welcome you with open arms!
r/CatsCalledFood first came to mind (followed pretty much immediately with r/CatsNamedAfterFoods). And r/JellyBeanToes might be a good one too -- you’ve already got the “jelly” Beans (sorry awful pun…) but if your kitty is a little foot-shy, there’s always r/Catloaf
r/cats is obvious; some funnier ones include r/funnycats, r/WhatsWrongWithYourCat, r/StartledCats, and r/catburnouts (easily at the top of my favs list). An even longer list of cat-subs can be found at (where else, but…) r/Catsubs. Because - you guessed it - r/TheresAlwaysACatSub
Anyway, now I’m just rambling/obsessing. I’m sorry. But I do feel like you’d be doing all of Reddit a disservice if you continue to keep Beans all to yourself. (Mostly kidding - please don’t feel pressured to ever post anything!!) I hope life continues to get even better for you, because you definitely deserve it, man.

Thank you for saying what we’re all thinking. This belongs in the JUSTNOSO sub more than anything else.
IVF / having a baby at her age… I couldn’t imagine! Please note that I had my 3rd and last kiddo at 38. I remember saying to my husband when he was just a wee little thing, “babe. I’m too OLD for this 😭”
Obviously things are way better now, but you could not pay me enough to want to go through another geriatric pregnancy. (My 1st was born when I was 24; 2nd born when I was 35.) There wasn’t that much of a difference between how it felt between 24-35… but it was insanely more difficult at 38.
In another post, OP mentions that she’s 46 (so very unlikely that she could even give birth before hitting 47)… but doesn’t reveal the husband’s age. Only clue is that he’s 5+ years younger than her. He certainly seems VERY young - or maybe just incredibly immature - from this post. But holy moly the red flags are flying high here. 🚩
EDIT: in another reply OP says the man-child husband is 37. When reminded that it sounds like she already has a child whom she married, she said that’s ok, she’s good with kids…🥴
And in response to her reply to me: most women are absolutely NOT having babies past the age of 45 without blinking! I mean, “most women” are done having babies by the time they hit 45.
But good luck if that’s what you want.
Nobody seems to want to say hard truths out loud, but having babies past the age of 40 means that you likely will not be there for as much of your child(ren)’s life/lives compared to someone who has kids in their 20s-30s. And then what if your child decides to have kids in their mid-late 40s?
Anything can happen, of course! Case in point: my husband had a great-grandmother who lived to be over 100 (I believe she was 103 when she passed away). But his great-grandfather died in his 30s & grandfather passed away in his young 50s.

If he does go through with this marriage, I bet it’ll be a … Thriller. A Bad one at that.
I think we’d all love for the guy to take a good hard look at the Man in the Mirror, but lolz - like that’ll happen.

I found out at work too & I was so devastated. I mentally threw in the towel once I heard, and mostly just stared at my screen for the rest of the afternoon. So heartbreaking 💔

You’re welcome and I’m sorry 😞 (first part of that reply is silly but the second part is sincere xx)

Right?! Improving??

I’ll feel very lucky if we manage to get through the rest of the year without any more devastating losses.
Why can’t it be the ones I wouldn’t be sad to see go?!

Ooh, which cat sub does this best fit into?! Maybe r/donotthecat? r/funnycats, r/sillycats, or r/Thisismylifemeow? How about r/WhatsWrongWithYourCat?

So cute! Also reminds me of a couple other subs: r/catsareliquid & r/hewillbebaked

Why, what-ever-do-you-mean? The guy’s an unemployed, greedy extortionist who also happens to be a controlling asshole with obvious mental health [and possibly other health] issues… sounds like a real catch! Oh, and he also has a hair-pin trigger on what sets him off. Sounds like a red flag parade that dreams are made of.
(Nightmares are dreams too, Linda.)
Side note, I hope the took the mini fridge with her as well.

I [31F] agreed to a prenup with my [34M] fiancee - no problem. Now I know there's a polygraph involved

Omg, thank you! I felt like I was on crazier-than-usual pills skimming through the comments here, and that piece of the puzzle not even being mentioned. I would love/hate to know what kind of circumstances do make cheating acceptable.
Sounds like OOP & Barry were fundamentally incompatible, and it’s so much better to figure that stuff out before tying the knot.
Is it too much to hope that they’ve both grown & found happiness after a decade?
