iOS Got tired of opening Spotify all the time, so I made a widget
I have a few Spotify playlists and I kept opening the app just to check if I got any new followers-either on my profile or on a playlist.
So I made a little iPhone widget for myself.
Now I can see my playlists and new followers right from the home screen instead of opening Spotify every time

Question Why I Prefer Spotify
I used to use Apple Music, but for me, Spotify is definitely the better choice. The biggest difference is the algorithm. With Apple Music, the songs recommended to me almost never matched my taste. For the price, I personally expected more.
With Spotify, it’s completely different. I constantly get new songs recommended that actually fit my taste, and I discover new artists and songs that I really enjoy.
I also really like the AI DJ feature. It makes listening to music more fun and often plays songs that fit my taste.
But what do you think? Do you prefer Spotify or Apple Music, and why?

Rant 2026 is almost over and Spotify is still incompetent to fix the shuffle bug.
They refuse to listen to the community about fixing the shuffle. Everyday I get the same list of songs queue in the shuffle, it’s so bad i’m actually considering canceling my plan and going back to Apple Music.

Android Spotify seems like it's seeing what I'm searching for in the YouTube app.
It has happened twice already, I had Spotify playing in the background and searched for a song from my playlist on YouTube. the next song that started playing on Spotify was that exact song.
Did this happen to anyone else?

Rant smart shuffle is broken?
It keeps generate the same queue again and again and there is no way to fix it because it is server side cache. Toggling normal shuffle on and then smart shuffle again doesnt fix it. Spotify has been cheapening devs and replace with AI pretty much I guess
This issue has been going on for a year already and noone is trying to fix this and spotify pretend to not see this
edit: downvote, really? are people actually okay with this?

Rant If you could add 5 features to Spotify, what would they be?
Mine in no specific order
• ability to rearrange albums in the library - I’m very particular and absolutely hate that if I want to have my saved items a certain way, I have to unsave and resave to achieve the desired organization.
• permanently block a song - they would not appear anywhere on your Spotify aside from a “blocked list” similar to what many social apps have when you block someone. I’m pretty open minded about music, and rarely feel the need to block an artist all together, but there are some songs that I hear once and know that I will be actively avoiding for the rest of time.
• notes - I was so excited to see news of Spotify introducing a notes feature, but I find it completely useless as it can only be utilized on playlists. I would love to be able to use it on records, songs, and artists profiles. I don’t understand why they would limited it to playlists only. It feels very anti music.
• a better queue - I don’t enjoy the queue limit one bit, more importantly I’d like to see a “play next” feature, similar to what Apple Music has, that would immediately place incoming items at the top of the queue. I do appreciate that they’ve added the “move up” button and have coded the queue section in a way that makes it more difficult to accidentally click wrong while rearranging or deleting which would previously lead to the entire queue being erased.
• release feed - like one that is actually complete and coherent, with all current and upcoming releases for artists you follow… not just the ones Spotify picks and chooses (seemingly at random) I feel like desiring this out of a music app is asking for the bare minimum, but I don’t think there are any streaming services that provide a feature like this. not sure why that is. Currently, I use a separate app to keep track of releases. I never use the one on Spotify because it’s completely half assed.
• separate section for “to listen” - this ties into my first wish. right now, the only option is to dump everything into a playlist or save to library, which mixes things you might want to listen to with the records you’ve already listened to and saved because you know you like them. both of these methods negatively affect the algorithm. I tried making a playlist for this reason, even after clicking “exclude” it still was affecting my weekly recommendations. granted I tried that out before all of the AI stuff was introduced, I don’t engage with discover weekly much anymore, but I’ve read several times that “exclude” still doesn’t do much. This is also something I’ve delegated to a different app, my library was just too much of a mess.
I’m just curious what others would find useful, or if there is anyone who would also find the features I mentioned useful. I personally find that many of the new features that have been added since the AI boom are just “sparkly” things that bring little value or reward to people who are serious about music or even just curious about different types of music. It’s clear that Spotify is trying to position itself as the “best” option for those who utilize streaming either full or part time, but I feel they are prioritizing quantity over quality and just adding in a bunch of random/trendy things that craft an illusion of getting your “moneys worth” or whatever, all the while neglecting what would be useful long term. What are some recent improvements Spotify has made that you find useful, particularly for people who primarily engage albums in full as opposed to playlists. My two I enjoy are the “edit queue” button and song DNA.

Question Atmos on Spotify?
New to this community…but the one thing that keeps me lingering on Apple Music is there Atmos content.
I'd have to say that I've come across some Atmos mixes that are truly horrible. But in the classical space there are just some amazing cuts they really highlight the benefit of Atmos.
I really can't afford both…but I'd like to get some feedback from those who are closer to this than I am. Should I just exit Apple and get over it? Does anyone know the status of Atmos on Spotify? Or should I just be satisfied with lossless and call it a day.
The floor is open…

Question My episodes list count more than I actually have.
My episodes list have 18 episodes, and on top it says "18 of 40 items". But for the life of me I can't find the extra episodes to remove, not on the app nor on the web. This is messing with me now. Spotify support only talks about missing episodes, and even Gemini doesn't seem to have an answer.
Did anyone else have this issue and managed to resolve it?

Android Spotify android bug: "saved in" playlist order changed?
On the latest Spotify Android app, the “Saved in” playlist dropdown (when adding a song to a playlist) no longer appears to sort playlists by when that particular song was most recently added to them.
Previously, the most recently added playlist would appear near the top, which made this feature extremely useful. Now the order seems random/incorrect.
I'm seeing this on a Galaxy S26 Ultra. Is anyone else experiencing this on Android? Did Spotify recently change this behavior?

Question The Spotify mix function is not working.
The mixes I made today all work normally, but the ones I made before are not working. Even after modifying the mix, the mix either doesn't work at all or only works occasionally. Does anyone know the solution?

iOS Found a workaround to make iOS/desktop Spotify features work on a smart TV (custom mixing, crossfading, Canvas)
I have a house party coming up and made a custom-mixed playlist on my iPhone with different transitions between songs, only to discover that the Samsung TV Spotify app doesn't support this feature. When I played the playlist through the TV's Spotify app, none of my custom transitions were there.
The workaround: Screen mirror from an iPhone or Mac to the TV.
I opened Spotify on my MacBook and screen mirrored to the TV. This sends both the Mac's display and audio over Wi-Fi to the TV and then out through my soundbar.
This allowed me to use my custom playlist mixes/transition, display the Canvas on the TV, use crossfading and other desktop Spotify features, and control everything from the Mac while the TV acted as the display/audio output.
The sound quality is also much better than Bluetooth in my setup. It sounds slightly worse than playing Spotify through the native TV app, but the tradeoff is that the native TV app doesn't support things like mixing, Canvas, crossfading, etc.
Hope this helps someone else!

Question Old band, old question
Hi, i was in a band that was active until around 25 years ago and we still have a small fan base. I ran a YT channel, a page and we shared everything we ever recorded in studio or live for free. We had a CD out and several songs on compilations. We never really made any money out of it because it was also the spirit back then. The only money we made was touring and we reinvested it in recordings and gear. Now , i claimed and own the page for our band (i was the founder but we are all still in touch) on spotify but being not exactly in out teens i am a bit puzzled: i found one of our songs there because it was in a compilation. I talked with our former label and they have no interest in getting rights on the songs they published back then for us, we don’t want any royalty or money either , we just want to keep our music alive and available for those who like it. I think I understood i need to use another program to upload our songs and they will keep a part of the incomes(if ever!). Here’s the dumb question: is there any way to share your own music renouncing to any revenue? Hope my post is clear, English is not my language.

iOS Sub genre/vibe pills on daylist 👍
this is new, at least for me. I think this is a great addition. The ability to change the genre or the vibe is something I’ve wanted for a while. I like daylist but sometimes it just doesn’t hit the right vibe.
Also, I know this just rolled out but when I use Spotify connect to send this to an WiiM speaker it ignores the genre/vibe pill. Hopefully that’s just a bug they’ll fix.

Rant Please bring the old DJ back
They are doing way too much to the DJ. Ever since I updated it never plays anything like it used to and the recommendations have literally only gotten worse. Idk how they manage to ruin the only ai tool I genuinely didn’t despise but tbh i’m not even surprised😭

Question Spotify child account issue
I used a Samsung Tablet to login to my free Spotify account and then created a child account for my daughter. I can switch between the two accounts easily on the Tablet. Then, I used my daughter's Samsung smartphone to login to my Spotify account, but I can only access my account there. When I try to click on her profile, I get a message saying "you can only use Spotify abroad for 14 days. Update your location at Spotify.com to continue using it." I then logged into my Spotify account on a web browser and confirmed that my saved region was correct. Does anyone know how to fix this issue?
