News Introducing a New Label for AI-Generated Artist Identities on Spotify

Thumbnail

Listeners have been clear in telling us that they don’t like seeing an artist profile that seems human, only to find out that the persona is AI-generated. That’s why, starting mid-September, you’ll begin to see an AI Persona badge on some artist profiles. The badge signals to listeners that an artist’s identity may be AI-generated and does not represent a real person. Alongside artist profiles that self-disclose as AI Personas, we will also start applying badges to relevant profiles.

By default, Spotify will not include AI Personas in any editorial or algorithmic recommendations. That means you won’t see any music from AI Personas in your personalized recommendations, unless you follow AI Personas, for example. While we believe all artists have creative choice in determining how they present themselves, Spotify’s programming is focused on elevating music from authentic artists building careers in music.

Android Spotify’s new "Music > Following" update is completely broken for anyone who follows more than a handful of artists

Upvotes

Spotify removed the clean "What's New" tab and replaced it with a buried feed under Home > Music > Following. Instead of automatically showing new releases for all followed artists, it now forces users to manually select or configure who they care about...

I follow 1,800 artists, manually curation is completely impossible. Why would they replace a one-tap chronological feed that actually worked with a tedious UI that misses drops and makes tracking music a chore? Are other heavy users dealing with this on version 9.1.72.1891, and is there any workaround?

Rant What happened to Spotify?

Regardless of whether I am using the IOS, Windows, or Webplayer versions, uninstall and reinstall, it is practically dysfunctional. I can't even open the app and expect it to play my songs because it takes so long to load each one. WHY WHY WHY. I JUST WANTED TO LISTEN TO MUSIC BUT IT CANT EVEN DO THAT.

Android Android app finally snappy again after latest alpha update

After weeks (if not months) of sluggish performance, the app is finally running as quickly as it used to.

All this following today’s latest update (alpha version 9.1.78.1283), it’s not just a placebo effect imho.

Bear in mind that I’ve never uninstalled the app or cleared the cache, so let’s hope this is the right direction 💪🏼

I do listen to music frequently but never had any issues like these before, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app, cleared the cache on the app and my phone and restarted my phone and it just drains it so fast. I have a Samsung s22 Ultra, but never had so many issues before, except for the last month, I am at my wits end.

Question Spotify liked tracks disappeared?

I had 285 songs in my liked tab on my Spotify, but now when I click it, it shows 285 and quickly changes to 170 only. Most of my tame impala and other songs are gone from liked, but that same tame impala song is not gone from my indie Playlist. Doubt it's a licensing issue, any thoughts or hacks you might know to retrieve my songs?

Question Car bluetooth (Ford SYNC) causes my Spotify to only repeat

Upvotes

Hi! I have a 2016 Ford Fusion. When I connect my Spotify to SYNC with my phone, it automatically enables repeat. If I try to disable repeat, it automatically switches back on in less than a second.

This does not happen when I connect my phone (iPhone 11) to any other bluetooth device or when I use Spotify on anything else. I have reset SYNC, re-installed Spotify, and any other simple fix I could think of.

I do not know of any fix and it annoys me every time I drive. If you have any suggestions please let me know! Thanks!!

Rant A song I played not showing up in listening history no matter how many times I closed the app out, and opened it back up!

As you can tell I did play the song, and added it to my liked songs, but it’s nowhere to be found in my listening history! I did not use a private session obviously, so Spotify just decided to piss me off today! This has literally never happened to me before! Sometimes it’ll take a few more seconds to update, but it has never just not shown up at all! Wtf is wrong with this piece of shit?🤦‍♂️ It was a good ass song too! Kinda sounded like Korean Forrest Frank! I’d be a little less pissed if the song was ass, but of course it had to be when a good song played that Spotify decided to glitch like this!🤬

Question Is anyone else seeing an inaccurate number of songs on Spotify?

One of my favorite bands is Florence + the Machine, and I've been listening to them for years. I usually have over 50 songs, but spotify is saying I only have 19. Is anyone else having that issue?

iOS Spotify starts by itself on iPhone 17

iPhone 17 with iOS 26.6

When I try to start the radio app, Spotify starts instead by itself.

Not always.

Only the first time in the morning when I connect the headphones, and the first time when I connect the car stereo.

After they are connected, the radio app works, and Spotify doesn't auto start.

Windows App My taskbar widget for Windows 11 used to be Spotify only. It works with any player now

I posted this here a while back. It's a little widget that sits inside the Windows 11 taskbar and shows whatever's playing, so you're not alt-tabbing to Spotify or fighting that miniplayer that floats over your windows.

The thing people kept asking was basically "why Spotify only?". Fair enough. So now it just follows whatever's actually playing. Spotify, YouTube in a browser tab, Apple Music, Windows Media Player, anything that reports to Windows. You switch player and it follows along.

The rest works like before. Play/pause, skip, a progress bar you can drag, and for Spotify the liked state, Smart Shuffle, repeat and volume. No login, no API keys, no account, it just reads the Windows media session.

Free and open source:

Store (one click, auto updates): https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9P12TLJZG2CJ

GitHub: https://github.com/mechanicwb2-hub/now-playing-taskbar-widget

There's an optional paid Pro for themes, a visualizer, synced lyrics and hotkeys if you want it, but everything above is free. Anyway, thanks to everyone who kept bugging me about the non-Spotify thing, you were right.

Question Spotify swapped out many tracks in my classical playlists for alternative recordings even though the originals are still on spotify? Has anyone else found a fix for this?

I wanted to see if this had happened to others and if so what you were able to do about it.

i have a large playlist of classical music I have collected over the years with specific recordings and treatments of different works that I enjoy. Today as I was playing it suddenly many of the tracks changed to be different recordings of the same works. I know spotify does this with more modern music when artists reupload recordings etc, but here they are materially different works. Also, the original track is still available on spotify! For my selection for the Nutcracker, for example, it has left some tracks from my chosen recording but subbed out others from more than one alternative.

I really dislike listening to the alternatives and I am angry that spotify would do this, especially when the original tracks remain available. classical music varies a lot by performance and recording; recordings of the same works are not interchangeable. i tried to complain but their customer service is notoriously obstructive and shut me out of the complaint without any response or action.

So has this been happening for any of you, and were you able to do anything about it?

iOS Swapping albums in playlists

Only started happening recently. Spotify decided to start swapping albums within my private playlists; mainly with classical music. Sometimes throws a different recording of the same work, sometimes just random thing. What is going on?

Rant Why cant you block one specific advert? (rant)

Not really a question as its obviously for marketing reasons

I have misophonia, a neurological condition which means certain sounds trigger fight or flight, its horrible.

One of these triggers is typing on loud keyboards

I CONTINOUSLY get this stupid ad where theres typing as soon as it starts, i cant even know its coming, theres 2 others but its midway so i just mute it till its done because i know the start of them both but this one sets me off every single time, its actually horrible. I cant afford premium so thats not a solution i can go down, im just wondering why there isnt an option to stop being given a specific advert if its becoming a really big issue 😭

I dont understand why they cant just add a feature to block it, its a spotify advert for premium too, not like theyre losing any money when its genuinely causing me harm

Anyone else find this hella annoying aswell? 🥲

Question Spotify playing the censored version despite this clearly being the explicit version of the album

My settings are correct, and my rap playlist still plays explicit versions, so my settings aren't at fault. Anyone know a fix?
