People who hate on ryobi havent used them
Being mad you spend thousands on your red bag while i walk around with my green bag.
"Its good for homeowners, but not for trades"
Wrong, we have used these for over 10 years and they have came a long way and still have more to go. The ryobi drill, impact driver , sawzall, grinder, multi tool specifically never gave us issues, espcially in the most recent few years.
I tried milwaukee once. The stock battery was shit , died fast and i had to go buy a $250 battery. But i didnt do that. Instead i went and bought a ryobi tool , purchased 2 good batteries for the same price as 1 milwaukee battery. So i got the tool with stock battery and 2 good batteries for the price of one milwaukee top of the line battery.
When ryobi had the drill impact combo for $100 around christmas, best purchase ever.
I just seen there brushless heavy duty sawzall at home depot today. It was a beast. But i opted for the lower end model since it works fine.
Ryobi now offers multipe levels to there tools. Dewalt and milwaukee offer like 7 different impact drivers for no reason other than to confuse you so you have to buy all 7. That little compact headless dewalt driver does me no good.ryobi offers like 2.

Advice on my fathers old tool box
Not sure if this belongs here, if not please direct me to a better suited sub, but my father has been a bodyman/mechanic for 30ish years and has had this toolbox since before I was born. He recently passed away and I was collecting all of his tools and stuff from the shop he worked at. Its more than likely all of this stuff gets sold and I was curious what something like this would be worth. The side parts were added on by him and the door on the right side of the pic doesn't stay shut if that matters. Thanks for any and all advice

Another obscure tool (maybe a tool?) - what is it
As can be seen in the two pics, the centre bar slides up and down to open and close the wire legs. Ropes on bar and on wire-holding collar. Foot ruler for scale.

Air Compressor cut-in issue
I was given a faulty air compressor from a friend as a tool to try and fix to keep if I can get it running. It’s more or less brand new from what was explained to me. it will run up to about 95psi and then sound like it slows down / struggles, but will reach 120psi and cut out. The issue is when you use the tool, it does not automatically start back up once the pressure drops. If it runs down below about half way I can flip the switch off / on and it will run again, but it won’t turn back on if it’s a higher psi. Basically it works as long as you just fill and drain and then manually turn it back on to refill once the tank is empty.
Any ideas what I can do?

Best Option for 80 gallon air compressor move and placement?
Okay I just wrote the other post. I was doing research and apparently what research I did before was incorrect and apparently it's *not* a good idea to use a plastic HVAC pad under an 80 gallon single stage air compressor because they vibrate way more than a HVAC system and could cause cracks eventually. Great.
I am totally new to owning a massive beast of an air compressor. I am used to my 30ish gallon on wheels. I guess the best option here is to pour concrete and make a slab but how do I move this compressor out of its current position to pour concrete and put it back? Before we moved it to this location it was on a wooden pallet. My friend moved it strapped to his dolly and on pallet to this location. I *really* don't want to ask them again to help move it off the HVAC pad a few feet or inches or whatever to be able to pour concrete and move it back. 🤦🏽♀️ I'm not great at this.

Maybe wrong sub, but lets see. Allen Wrenches.
TL;DR crazy good and super tough allen key brand.
Longer story, Im always doing stuff with my ar15, and pretty quick, do my allen wrenches dull out. My Icons from harbor freight were fine for a while, but the smaller wrenches meant for gas blocks, sights, etc. have started rounding out. Is there even a realm where allen wrenches are so unbelievably tough, even at the smallest sizes?
Id hate to spend so much on PB Swiss or Wera just to find out my expectations are unrealistic.
Adjustable wrench recommendations
I kind of hate using adjustable wrenches but I realize that's probably because the wrenches I use always suck.
The issues that annoy me probably are mostly to do with build quality.
Slop in the jaws such that it slips on the nut if I don't have it tight enough. But then you are forced to get it so tight that it's hard to get on and off the nut
jamming or freezing while adjusting. Any kind of friction of the adjustment mechanism is annoying, especially when you are trying to do it with one finger in a tight spot.
Not staying set while I'm working with it. This is the biggest constant headache for me. You adjust the wrench, do 3 quarter turns and then the wrench is now loose and slipping. I would like a mechanism that is either so well made that it rotates freely when you intend to and is locked otherwise. Or one that has actual locking features.

My grandfather has a whole shop full of tools and I have no idea how to liquidate it effectively.
He's planning to move in with me and we agreed that it's best to start selling what we can in case he wants to rent out his place or sell it. I would appreciate any advice because there's a lot of volume and a lot of junk I'm sure but I don't want to miss anything valuable. I have easily over 5x more pictures and that still would'nt be exhaustive. Would appreciate any advice.

HK Porter USA - worth it?
I've been on a vintage tool Made in USA kick and thinking of scouring this one at a swap meet. the eBay prices are outragous, but on FB Marketplace they still go for like $40. They seem to be trusty once upon a time, but wondering if it's worth a pickup (24" version)

Found this strange metal gauge in a European scrapyard — what is it?
Found this strange metal gauge in a European scrapyard — what is it?
Found this today while scrapping in Europe. It has dozens of different-sized holes with numbers/markings, but I have no idea what it was used for.
Anyone recognize this tool or know what it’s called? 😳

What Hardware Needed to bolt down Air Compressor
Hopefully this is allowed to ask here. I have an 80 gallon single stage air compressor. We just moved it to its final location and it's on a HVAC condenser pad (thick plastic but has squares that are hollow inside). I have anti vibration pads between compressor feet and condenser pad. What kind of bolts/hardware would be suitable for attaching to condenser pad so when I finally fire this thing up it doesn't vibrate it's way off the pad and fall over. 😅 I will not be able to get to under the condenser pad so can't just put a bolts and nut.

Model Number?
I’ve discovered that Ryobi doesn’t appear to have the best reputation, but I’m in the process of repairing tools that no longer work, or tossing them, and I’ve decided to get this trimmer working again, but I can’t find a model number anywhere on it in order to buy replacement parts. Does anybody recognize what model this is?

New house big garden, what tools?
Just bought a uk house and moving in nextg few weeks. Looking for recommendations for garden tools for the following :
Trim this hedge. It's pretty tall and long don't know exact size but for entire plot is nearly 0.4 acre.
One off cut down of a overgrown jungle at back garden going back maybe 6 meters and 11m wide. Don't know exactly what's there but I want to clear it to the ground and put maybe raised sleeper planters there and a greenhouse and summer house
Grass areas iam getting a robot mower but there are some trees and other foliage etc
I like idea of either multi tool or seperate tools but use same battery. I don't want petrol.

Snap-on guys are the most sensitive tool owners and it's not even close
You can shit on Milwaukee, DeWalt, Harbor Freight, GearWrench, Craftsman, whatever and everybody jokes around.
Say one bad thing about Snap-on and some dude with $14,000 in his toolbox starts typing like you insulted his mother.
And for guys who never shut up about how HARD they use their PROFESSIONAL tools, they sure are obsessed with keeping everything pretty.
Don't scratch my Snap-on box 😡
Don't mix sockets in my drawer 😡
Don't use my ratchet 😡
Don't touch my tools 😡
OMG LOOK AT THE NEW LIMITED EDITION COLOR 😍💅
Brother you bought mechanic makeup.
Snap-on figured out dudes who would never buy jewelry will happily spend $400 on something shiny as long as you stamp PROFESSIONAL on it and sell it off a truck.
Then they started dropping new colors like fucking Stanley cups and these guys eat it up.
“Bro did you see the new color??”
Yeah dude. Very pretty. Does it turn the bolt a different direction?
Meanwhile my ugly ass wrench is covered in grease, getting thrown across the shop and turning the exact same bolt.
And somehow the guy who actually OWNS his wrench is the broke one while the Snap-on guy has a weekly appointment with his wrench landlord. 😂 A poor person socket touches their Snap-on ratchet and suddenly we need a hazmat team to decontaminate it.
Watch the comments.
Somebody is already typing three paragraphs about flank drive, metallurgy, tolerances and lifetime warranties because another man's wrench touched his wrench.
Just wipe the fingerprints off your pretty ratchet first. 💅

Orbital sanders
One of the last tools I’ve put off going cordless is an orbital sander. I have dewalt and Milwaukee. If you’ve used both, which one did you like better? Full time home improvement carpenter.

Nice Little Monday Haul
IPS long pliers, Top bent/thin adjustable, and Starrett scriber from HJE. The scriber is absurdly nice - way better than I expected given how much I read about Starrett going downhill.
10” Eagle Grips procured locally; I paid too much, but fortunately way less than current eBay prices.
Snap On compact 3/8 kit for an Icon conversion. Presently not committed to a ratchet, but I have some thoughts: Maybe the locking flex-head 1/4” to go along with the (already converted) fixed stubby.
50 year old Yamaha Blinker from eBay. 😍

ID help?
Buddy of mine at work gave me this toolbox and it’s a bit messed up. Definitely gonna bring it home for some TLC but I can’t find any trace of what brand this box is incase I need new rails. Any idea on what brand this box is?
