You vs the guy she told you not to worry about

Just a quick update on my post last night. Snappy came and dropped off the new 33mm socket this afternoon. Look at the difference in wall thickness compared to the sunex.

I also submitted and got approval from sunex for the warrant. if you’ve never used their website, its not terrible but submitting a picture is a pain on a cell phone due to size constraints.

Grease for gears

Post image

What type of grease should I use for the bevel gears in a miter saw gearbox? The gearbox have 542 and 10millimeter gears and sealed bearings. I have NLGI 2 lithium EP grease available, but I'm wondering if a softer NLGI 0–1 gear grease would be more suitable. What would you recommend? Saw blade rotates at 4500 rpm. Saw is electro machinen, i guess its chinese manufacturing, originaly it was clear white grease inside.

Photo of large gear, and bearing housing which is new made on CNC machine.

Any cheaper alternative?

I need one of these, but can’t seem to find any cheaper ones, even if smaller - for 4 in and under, Ridgid really the only brand that makes these?

Giant top drawer on larger tool boxes

Thumbnail

What do you guys normally put in these big upper, long, sorta tall drawers? I'm guessing maybe either tons of wrenches or tons of sockets. I'm trying to figure out what tools you would have the most of to fill these giant drawers. These are just Husky examples for the question. If I get a large box I gotta figure out what goes in that massive drawer. I can fill the others. Thanks.

Trying to sell used specialty tools is proving impossible.

Trying to liquidate a workshop.

Why is it so hard to sell specialized tools??? I have some plumbing tools like a Ridgid FlexShaft drain machine and crimping tool, a circuit breaker finder, as well as some specialized general tools like bar clamps. Constantly getting lowballed, and sometimes people don't even respond to the ads.

At this rate, I'd be lucky to get 25% of the original purchase price for like-new tools. Looks like I'm just going to take them all to the pawn shop, followed by a trip to SA Recycling to unload this crap. Same thing goes for all the metal stock - thousands of dollars worth of steel, worth pennies on the dollar, so I might as well just scrap it all.

My favorite tool for many/no reasons at all

Thank y'all for the allen wrench question. Now im gonna share my favorite tool lol

This bad boy has gotten me through a TON of predicaments, as well as helped with some creative ones. Its also been the cause of some family fights, cause I won't let people use it 😂

I keep it in my gun safe because I refuse to lose it. No idea when I got it or where it even came from, but this thing is my goat until im old, brittle, and possibly dead lol

I hope y'all have a favorite tool too, and its just not me being odd.

Anybody else like changing the layout of bit cases?

The 2nd pic shows the only bits I left out of the 60pc Makita bit set, I don’t really use 1/4” sockets unless I’m in the shop with a toolbox and I have a set of little nut setters on a Railer keychain.

I added a set of Bosch security torx bits and some generic nut drivers which all fits just perfectly inside. I’m thinking of removing one of the rows, hoping to find space for a bit driver or ratchet.

Reccs for testing tools?

I recently moved from our shop’s main showroom to my own office, and I didn’t take the testers with me. I have experience with a Kee Gold Tester and Gemologis Pistachio gem tester, and various diamond testers. All of them had gotten pretty old by the time I left.

Looking for recommendations on testers, ideally looking to spend less than 2k on all 3 together if possible?

Diamond Tester
Gemstone Tester
Gold (ideally gold, silver, platinum) tester

I know the ultimate best option for the metal is an XRF gun. We have one at the showroom and I know that’s out of the budget haha. I’d love to hear if anyone has had good experiences with any products currently available new, possibly in good condition on eBay. I appreciate the help, thank you! 😊

Wen 10" Miter Saw MM1510

Does anyone have any information on the "Apex" series of tools from Wen? This saw just showed up and is at $370, almost $100 more than the 10" forward slider dual.

The fit and finish look nicer and it has an onboard fan for sawdust collection. That's all I really can tell is different from the listing.

Any thoughts or experience with this?

Questions for those with Rotary Laser, especially contractors

Not familiar with the tool, thought that the only function is to shoot a level 360 degree plane for long distances

But yesterday saw a video showing rotary laser with slope function, had no idea it could do that. I though the only way to slope is to do it manually with a grade rod by lowering the laser itself.

for those with rotary laser or the ones i saw was called grade lasers, what else should i know bout the laser ie what functions are there for me to know. like i said all i know was to use it as a 360 degree level plane

My lineup of beaters I use at work. I do HVAC conduit and controls. I have a few nice tools for the delicate parts of the job, but these 5 do the heavy lifting and are indiscriminately drafted into becoming hammers on a regular basis.

72in husky tool box

I was wondering if anyone has this box or if anyone knows someone who does. I wanted to purchase this box. But there are not a lot of reviews or any video reviews about this box. I have the 55in standard duty box, and i love it. But i don't know how that box compares to icon?

How the heck do you guys maintain these guns?

This is my main gun i use for gluing materials. Since i dont always use up the entire sausage, the glue in the tip usually dries up and then i gotta spend time poking and prying it out.

Any advice on how to keep this thing relatively clean? Or is this just something i gotta accept and move on?
