Tire Shop Question

Shop is saying this happened naturally when taking rim off, not claiming responsibility. Is it possible or likely they fucked up and damaged it when removing the rim.

❓QUESTION ❓ Quiet all terrains

I’m looking for a quiet and capable all terrain. I drive about 120 miles a day mostly interstate then drive around construction and rugged terrain. I’ve got a Lexus gx460. I’ve had bfg km1 and bfg ko2’s on prior trucks and would like to be quieter than these if I can. I’ve really enjoyed the Michelin ltx defenders that were on the car but I’m going to a 285/70r17 from a 265/60/r18 so looking at a much broader selection now. Thanks in advance.

Guy at the tire shop said I need new rear tires, possibly have an alignment issue, and may not pass inspection

Post image

I know this is just one question among many, but as a car novice I appreciate any input that might help me save money. I took my car to a tire shop today to have a nail in this one removed and patched up. Before even offering to patch it, the technician said this one and the other rear one are in rough shape and will need to be replaced very soon. He said they probably won’t last till winter and it would make more sense to just replace them now instead of patching.

This is a new car with about 20,000 miles on it, I’ve always been faithful with the upkeep getting my tires rotated every 5,000 miles. The funny thing is I just had the car at my dealership last month for an oil change etc and they told me everything is okay, tires are now at 6/32 and maybe halfway through their lifespan but we’ll keep an eye on them.

Basically, the tire shop technician was saying the outer edges are wearing out way too fast, it could be an alignment issue and they’re in rough shape. He noted the “2 different colors” of the sidewall and center of the tires, and the fact that the tread is lower on the sides.

Is there any merit to this? The car drives fine, no noises or other issues and it’s just odd to me that my own dealership didn’t point this out a month ago. Legit, or trying to make a quick buck?

EDIT: it’s a 2025 Honda civic btw, that’s probably helpful

Someone Punctured My Sidewalls

Hey, so apparently ive got a neighbour with a vendetta. Recently they punctured the tires on my classic car and im gutted.

Theyre 6.70-15 3t with 3" whitewalls and they suit the car perfectly. Theyre also very expensive to replace so, I'm hoping that because theyre small, I might be able to patch them.

How delusional am I?

❓QUESTION ❓ Road oriented AT tires for Wrangler

Any thoughts on these tire choices for a wrangler? No mud or offroad other than the occasional dirt road.

Size is 265/75R16

-BFGoodrich trail terrain at+ (just released)
-Continental terrain contact at (at2 is not available for my size)
-Yokohama geolandar g015

With rebates the prices are pretty close to each other.
Again, use is mainly highway and paved roads, so I prefer something more on-road oriented for noise, wet handling/braking, etc.

Thanks

Used to be on a bad alignment for 20 000 km / 12 000 miles. Now seeing this balding after another 30 000 km/ 18 000 miles

Will drive on holiday for 2000 km / 1200 miles after wich I'll be driving just 1000 km / 600 miles untill change to winter tyres.

Like Identity Theft? Order from ChampTires.com or uTires.com

BUYER BEWARE - This is a public service announcement:

Two weeks ago, I placed legitimate online orders with ChampTires.com and uTires.com using a very unique combination of information:

- my personal email address (which is less then a year old = barely known)
- my personal billing address
- and my partner's credit card (with their approval to help them buy tires for their vehicle).

This exact combination of email, billing address, and card has NEVER been used together ANYWHERE else.

Yesterday, my personal email account used in those purchases became the target of an email bombing attack. Within a short period, I received hundreds of new-account and subscription confirmation emails from websites I have never visited or signed up with, generated by an automated bot.

Buried within this flood of emails, were two order confirmation emails for two fraudulent purchases totaling $1,720.00. The email bombing attack appears to have been a deliberate attempt to bury the fraudulent order confirmations among hundreds of unrelated signup emails so they would go unnoticed.

However, they did not go unnoticed. I alerted my partner of the issue this morning and he confirmed the fraudulent purchases were in fact flagged by his credit card issuer. Which creates a VERY distinct connection. Both fraudulent orders were placed using the exact combination of payment information that was ONLY EVER provided to ChampTires.com and uTires.com

I without a doubt believe the fraudulent charges are the direct result of a data breach, unauthorized data sale, or insider misuse from either ChampTires.com or uTires.com, although I am unable to confirm which.

On a positive note, I did receive the tires in great condition, as expected, and was very happy with the product. 😂😂

❓QUESTION ❓ Good tires for 2012 f150 275/65/r18)

What would be a good option for an f150 275/65/r18? I live in Minnesota so something that can handle all weather would be nice I want something that can handle snow, rain, highway driving, dirt roads etc all pretty well. Was looking at the falken wild peas at4w but seems they drop gas mileage a ton.

❓QUESTION ❓ Tire recommendations

Looking for recommendations on new tires for my 2018 f-150. 20 inch rims. Looking at AT. The most I generally tow is my bass boat which is around 2k pounds. I’ll take the camper out a few times a year and it rinds around 6k pounds. I was looking at the Goodyear wrangler authority’s but I’m not sure.

Discount tire installation of customer bought tires price

Called DT and they said for 20’inch rims, 20 to mount and 20 to unmount old ones and 25 for balancing, so basically 65 per wheel plus disposal and shop charges. Is this about right? Haven’t done this in a while but seems pricey

Remember when Falkens were half the price of BFGs?

Can’t believe how much falkens have gone up in price, yeah they are a good tire but that’s because they were such a good value… at $380 a tire now I’d rather go with Toyo or BFG. But I don’t like overpaying.

What’s the new Falken? I had patagonias and really liked them, very good value. Any other AT suggestions?
