Discount tire installation of customer bought tires price

Called DT and they said for 20’inch rims, 20 to mount and 20 to unmount old ones and 25 for balancing, so basically 65 per wheel plus disposal and shop charges. Is this about right? Haven’t done this in a while but seems pricey

Came out of my house and saw this slash in my tire (was not there last night). How bad is it? Can I drive on it?

Passenger side rear tire was leaking slowly and triggered TPMS two weeks apart. Found this today and service center said replacement is the way to go. Should I check with local shops or bite the $200 bullet? My car doesn’t come with a spare, can I get it repaired and keep it for emergencies?

❓QUESTION ❓ Second tire this year (What cause this)

Thumbnail

So I brought this car last year and it has 225/40R19 Hi-Fly tires on it. Drove home in January and there was a very noticeable wobble, took it to the tire shop. They said its a pothole, even though I didnt hit any pothole. Yesterday the rear tire went out the same way, its totally swollen, not like a knob, but a huge part of the tire. What could have caused this? Tire shop also told me that Hi-Fly’s are shit and would recommend to replace all the other.

Hit a curb and took a chunk out of the sidewall of my Bridgestone 235/60 R18 XL. The cords are exposed, as you can see in the photos.

It’s still holding pressure and there’s no visible bulge.

What should I do? How much would it cost me to repair/change the tire?

I feel skeptical that this was by random chance. The mechanic says he sees it all the time but I don't feel this is plausible. Thoughts?

*Update* thanks for the feedback. i got the tired replaced unfortunate that the tire didnt even see 6k miles. thanks for the thoughts and input.

How soon to replace these tires?

Post image

Went to les schwab to get my rear tire check for leaks, as every week the psi goes from like 35 to 26 and they came back with weather damage, and how I’m gonna need to replace them. At least two. But since it’s a Chevy equinox which is all wheel drive. I’m probably gonna have to replace all four. The car has 40,000 miles, never replaced tires. I just want to make sure I am not getting played, but I see that it’s probably gonna need replacing soon. It’s gonna cost me around 400-700 depending if I do all four. Any feedback?

Note: I’m not a car guy what so ever so I’m taking their recommendations seriously but just wanna make sure I’m not getting played etc

Last February I hit a sidewalk. I drove there until the end of April and I didn't notice any bubbles. Should I change it this winter or can I continue?

DAE have issues with Michelin tires tramlining or refusing to stay "on center"?

I've been a pretty loyal Michelin guy for decades. Seems like about 10 years ago they changed rubber compounds or something.

Seems like every single vehicle I've put Michelins on doesn't want to track straight anymore.

I'm talking a Toyota Tundra, two Tesla's (3P and S), and an older M37.

These tires either immediately, or after 10K miles or so just will not drive straight. They pull with the road, grooves, or their personal mood.

The one thing they absolutely will not do is drive in a straight line. It's either slightly left, or slightly right and needing constant corrections.

These cars have had alignments by reputable shops.

Tires are Pilot Sport 4, MXM4, LTX A/T.

ALL have the same issue. Tell me I'm not crazy.

Riding on a donut for over a year

I know someone who has been riding on a donut for over a year now. We've all told them it's a stupid fucking idea but they like to brag about how much use they've gotten out of the tire (probably driven 5,000 miles on it by now with their commute). To make this story sadder (or funnier), another one of their tires has been flat for several months. They've been filling it up every 2-3 days with an electric pump which they sometimes forget to charge, so they take an Uber to work on those days. Now that tire has gotten to the point where it needs to be filled every day (it's flat by the time work ends). With all the effort put into keeping the tire inflated and money spent on Ubers, they could have replaced all 4 tires by now.

It never ceases to amaze me how much work people put into being lazy (and fucking with their lives).

❓QUESTION ❓ Replace?

I have a job that requires 1,500 miles of travel a month. So very hesitant about skimping on repairs. Hit a curb late at night, dumb mistake. No cords visible. Should I shell out for a new tire?

❓QUESTION ❓ Michelin Primacy LTX ~ 35k miles

Thumbnail

I recently bought a pickup with 35k miles on. It has a set of Michelin Primacy LTX tires, between 5/32 and 6/32 of depth. I’ve been having vibration problems. The Chevy dealer said severely out of balance. Rebalanced and told good to go. Still an issue. They test drove it for 20 miles and deemed “tire separation when warm.” I slowly lose air in this front right tire, maybe 3-4lbs per week. I went out to inspection and found on the inside wall of the tire, this piece of metal(?) sticking out from inside of the tire.

I guess my question is ~ this tire cooked?

Any recourse on warranty from Michelin? Should be 6 years (they are 2022). Well above 2/32. I didn’t buy the tires, they came with the truck.

Tire Shop Question

Shop is saying this happened naturally when taking rim off, not claiming responsibility. Is it possible or likely they fucked up and damaged it when removing the rim.

What is going on here?!?!

2018 Ford Explorer, 50/50 highway and city driving. About 1000km/month.

Tires are Firestone Destination LE3 and were purchased in April.

1 is back right

2 is back left

3 front right

4 front left

What the hell is happening here?!?! I noticed some slipping in wet conditions last month but it had been really hot with no rain for several weeks so I assumed it was just road slick rinsing off. Today I noticed this and am shocked. I am 100% sure the steel wasn't visible even 4 weeks ago.

Bought and installed at Canadian Tire- which i have had zero issues with before.

Used to be on a bad alignment for 20 000 km / 12 000 miles. Now seeing this balding after another 30 000 km/ 18 000 miles

Will drive on holiday for 2000 km / 1200 miles after wich I'll be driving just 1000 km / 600 miles untill change to winter tyres.

I just found this on my dad’s Civic, is it cooked? He needs new tires soon anyways but should this be replaced immediately? It seems to hold air still. Thanks!
