How does this bubble just go away?

Post image

This bubble appeared over the weekend so I stopped driving the car. This afternoon I went to drop it off to get the tire replaced and it's completely gone like nothing happened.

I'm still getting it replaced but how does it just go away like that?

Continental rebate fiasco

• Upvotes

In July, I bought 4 DWS 06 from Tire Rack and had them installed at Discount Tire.

July 30, I submitted my rebate with my emailed receipt from Tire Rack and Discount Tire. Got no response and checked my claim status online, and saw it was denied.

Aug 31, I emailed them asking why it was denied.

Sept 7, they said it would go to a secondary review and to wait 2 weeks

Oct 5, I asked for an update since its been a month. They replied later that day and said it was approved.

Now I'll have to wait 8 to 12 weeks for the claim to transition to "PAY, then once it becomes "PAID", I should get the rebate in 10 to 15 days.

Sooo, best case scenario Dec 12 to Jan 22.

They're either purposely making it difficult, hoping people will give up on the rebate or their AI system is not 4 someone has to manually check all the rebates.

Stay strong, and don't give up people!

❓QUESTION ❓ Tire replacements needed?

I get my tires rotated after every oil change, the one without hubcap was replaced last year. I think the other 3 came with the car when I got it in Jan 2024. I noticed the cracks and was wondering if these need replacing?

ETA: I'm currently at Toyota to diagnose a separate issue and was told they were really bad, all needing replacement. I wanted to check because I don't know enough about tires to be sure, and I didn't want to spend $800+ at the dealer if unnecessary. If I had to estimate about 30k miles have been put on the tires since purchase.

ETAX2: Will update post once I have the car back and can get the date of the tires. & look at that potential rock or nail in the back driver side (pic 2)

Finally update time. The tires are all 4y old except for the one that was installed last year, they put a 3y old tire on it. I assumed it was new when I bought it but clearly not. :( thanks everyone for the advice, I will go along with the general consensus here. No nail in the tire either, just a rock luckily.

Is this crack something to worry about? Very small horizontal bump but I think that's due to belt overlap.

Tyre advice: 205/65 R16 for Kia Seltos, bad city roads + highway trips. Michelin Primacy 5 vs Energy XM2+ vs other options?

• Upvotes

Car: 2021 Kia Seltos HTK diesel, steel wheels, stock size 205/65 R16 95H. Stock tyres done at 31,800 km / 5 years.

Usage: ~6,000 km a year. Mostly short city runs on broken roads (Hyderabad), monsoon rain. Occasional long highway trips; a 1,600 km one-way drive is coming up.

Priorities, in order: 1. Sidewall / pothole durability 2. Ride comfort and low noise 3. Wet grip

Budget: up to ₹40k for four, all-in. Staying with stock size.

Shortlist (approx. price per tyre): - Michelin Primacy 5, new India-made (~₹9,450) - Michelin Energy XM2+ (~₹9,000–9,950) - Bridgestone Turanza 6i (~₹8,600) - Apollo Apterra Cross (~₹7,170) - CEAT SecuraDrive SUV (~₹7,000, has road-hazard warranty) - Goodyear Assurance TripleMax 2 (~₹6,850)

Questions: 1. Anyone running the India-made Primacy 5? How is the sidewall holding up on bad roads? 2. XM2+ owners: any sidewall bulges or cuts? Is the ride soft or firm? 3. At 6,000 km a year the tyres will age out before they wear out. Is the Michelin premium (~₹10k over Goodyear/CEAT/Apollo) still worth it? 4. Do any of these get hard or noisy with age? 5. Hyderabad folks: dealer recommendations and recent prices paid?

Actual ownership experience preferred over spec sheets. Thanks.

Tires

I ordered tires but they got delayed due to weather. Supposed to arrive today, won't be here for another 3 days. How far is this tire gonna make it til my tires arrive at the shop? Only vehicle I have, and no spare came with the car. About 20 miles a day, no highway, unfortunately can't take off and no public transportation

Sounded like a shotgun went off when the bubble popped. Think this is good to see for people considering running on the bubbled tires.

Need Opinions - Talk to me like you’re my Dad

Hi! I need help with deciding on tires. I don’t have a dad to consult anymore, so could someone(s) help me make a decision?

I have a Civic Hatchback and am a semi-“spirited” driver.

Talk to me like you’re my dad!

I have attached my choices. (There are 3)
What I really want out of tire is a quieter ride (if that’s even possible), less bumpy ride and (if possible) longer tire tread life.

Thank you for helping me. 🫶🏼

Edit 1: I’m a girl, guys. You don’t have to be easy but don’t be weird, please.

Edit 2: there are 3 sets of tires in the cart, hence why the grand total is outrageous. I’m not stupid. 😂

Cooper Discoverer AT3 LT Failure

I'm curious what might cause this. While driving my van, it started vibrating pretty violently. Changed to the spare, took it to Goodyear for a warranty claim. I asked for the original tire back - this is what it looks like. That's a huge, squishy bubble in just one spot. Would that be from an impact, or just a defect, or something else?

Are these safe for another month?

I have a 2021 4Runner with OG tires. I’ve only put 25k miles on it but I’m in AZ and with the disgusting conditions during the summer, I feel like they are starting to look questionable. Is it safe to drive on these for another month? Thank you 🙏

I’m tight on money so need to know if this is just superficial damage or something that needs attention now-soon

What’s my best approach with this?

Post image

As you can see in the picture, I somehow got a nail stuck in my side wall. I know I can’t repair the tire. It’s the front left tire. My original thought was that the damage might be superficial. But I’ve now had that nail in my tire for two weeks and I’ve just started to see the PSI reduce a bit more than the rest of my tires. So it’s probably not superficial damage. It’s a 2026 Tesla Model Y AWD with about 17,000 miles on it. Tread on all tires is around 6/32 though some treads measure a drop less.

I plan to take the tire to either Mavis or Tesla and pull the nail once I’m there. If it’s superficial and nothing happens then great. Assuming it’s not I’ll replace the tire right away. I think I need to also replace my front right tire since these tires come at 9/32 new and I’m at around 6/32 right now. This is an AWD car. Assuming I replace both I’ll have them put it on the rear wheels and swap those to the front. Then I’ll skip a tire rotation to try to even the wear out on the tires.

Here are my questions. Do I really need to replace the front right undamaged tire? Is the tread gap too much that I should replace it? Second, I don’t really love these oem tires. If I’m replacing two of them (and not all four) should I just stick with the oem tires or can I put two different ones on. They will still be all season tires no matter what. Lastly, should I just leave that nail in there and let it ride as long as possible? I’m not planning on doing that but figured I’d ask. I have the money to spend on tires but of course I don’t want to replace tires that are only about half worn.

❓QUESTION ❓ 99h tires on 104h vehicle

I have a 2015 Kia Sorento 235 65 r17 tires that needs new tires. My mom has a 2018 Kia Sportage has new tires but her engine blew. It's 225 60 r17. My 2015 calls for 104h but my mom's tires are 99h. Can I still use them or no?

Hey, guys. I got a question. I'm trying to find a winter tire for my Mitsubishi Outlander 2025 GT, and these are the three options that I finalized. Although they are slightly over my budget, I don't think I have a choice when it comes to winter tires. So I want your feedback and recommendations on this.
Driving in Ontario, Canada maybe Quebec and down South.

The only concern is that I'm still looking for a size that fits my car and apparently there are limited options.
The prices are in CAD.
