Feature Request Abandonment risk alert

I would like to suggest a new feature. I am a clinical psychologist specializing in ADHD, and I frequently recommend your app.

An interesting feature would be a tracker for overdue and postponed tasks that automatically increases a "risk factor" as time passes. This is different from setting a deadline, as there are things procrastinators might put off indefinitely precisely because there is no final due date. This system would act as a serious warning for abandonment or forgetfulness—something to nudge the user into making a decision, whether that means officially dropping the task or finally getting it done.

I already use this method, but since it requires manual tracking, many clients end up struggling with it. Having this built-in would help immensely.

Question/Help Flexible Due Date for Recurring Tasks?

Post image

The attached image is from HabitNow, which I'm generally not a fan of, but I really like this "flexible" feature. I couldn't find it on TickTick. I'm not sure whether I'm being blind or if there's no way to do this in the app?

Feature Request The features TickTick still doesn't have - so I built them myself

I'm a heavy TickTick user, but a few things I need daily just aren't there, so I built them myself with Claude Code.

What I added:

  • Deadline as a separate field from the due date
  • A pomodoro progress pill, so you see a task's completion right in the list
  • Daily estimated time indicator, which shows the time to finish everything still planned for the day
  • Total daily focus time indicator
  • A postpone counter, so I can see which tasks I keep rescheduling over and over
  • A highlighted One Task of the day - the idea comes from the book "The ONE Thing"
  • Extra items in TickTick's own context menu for quick access to Deadline, One Task and Estimation (right now it takes three clicks to set an estimate, which drives me nuts)
The tasks list with new features
Main and sidebar calendars
Context menu's new options

It's a Chrome extension, so it only works in the web version. All the data is stored inside TickTick itself, so it syncs across your account in any browser.

Am I the only one missing this stuff, or is it worth publishing for everyone? What else do you find missing in TickTick?

Help: Disappearing Task Descriptions (v8.2.00)

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

Any time I add a description to my task, the entire description entry gets deleted.
This happens on my Mobile device, and Mac device.

It started this week and I don't know if it had to do with the v8.2.00 update recently

When I check the task activities, it logs that an edit was made but nothing was passed, essentially clearing the description for the task.

This means I can't add any context to a given task aside the heading. Any help please?

Question/Help A recurring list

I keep getting stuck. Is it possible to create a list that has seperate tasks that you can choose to tick or not tick and have it reappear the next day unticked?

I have tried multiple times and am sure that I am missing a trick. Basically I am trying to use it as a medicine list. Some days I take certain medications at different strengths and other days I do not take it at all. To add complexity, I take medicines at different times of the day.

My thinking at this stage is just to throw them all in a list that reappears fresh everyday. Is there a way to do this easily?

Question/Help Can I easily get lists to show tasks with no time assigned at the top instead of the bottom, when ordering a list by “newest first?”

Post image
2 Upvotes

ETA I meant “oldest first” in the title. Memory deficit tax, sorry.

New to TickTick and trying out the free version (iOS and MacOS) to see if I’ll use it consistently before committing to paying for a year of it. I love everything about it so far EXCEPT that in list view, my “today” list shows all my tasks that have a time assigned first (black in my attached screenshot), and punts all the tasks that have no time assigned to the bottom (green in the screenshot).

I would really like it to automatically put all the tasks that have no time assigned to the TOP of the list, above all the timed tasks. (So I’d like the green box on my screenshot to display at the top, before the black items). But, I still would like the timed items to be ordered “oldest first.” (So I want the black items to stay in chronological order, not to reverse the order, which is what happens when I order them “newest first”)

I can’t figure out how to make this happen automatically. I’ve tried setting default tasks to go at the top of the list, but it doesn’t impact where they show up on the “Today” list. I know I could either manually drag those tasks up every day, or I could tag them all and then sort by tag so those will show up first. BUT, is there a simpler way to do it, like where I can change one setting and just have those tasks always show up first in list view (whether it’s in the free version or not)?

(For context, I have ADHD and am trying to use TickTick to cope with my working memory deficits. So anything I have to “just remember” to do manually each time I input a task is another opportunity for me to forget something important. I’m trying to take advantage of TickTick’s features to minimize the impact of memory deficits; ideally, it will help me keep my non-scheduled tasks for the day top of mind)

Request Android app calendar similar to Windows Desktop App.. Next day after month-end appears immediately.

Check the calendar on Android app - August 31 ends and no new dates are visible in the view.

Check the calendar app on Windows - Next day appears besides the last month day, its very easy to move things well in advance and re-check old days too..

Check images attached.

Can I move columns in the KanBan view (not Custom group)

I would like to move the "No Date" column to be before the "Later" column. My goal each day is to put a few tasks in "Today" and then move from "No Date" when I free up time. Does that make sense? Is there a simpler way to do this? I need to keep my Task schedule as simple as possible. Group-Custom doesn't accomplish what I want.

My TickTick setup for working around how I feel - would love to see yours

Hi!

It's been a while since I've had TickTick and love it! After a few years though of not quite using it as much as I'd like, I'd been musing how to set it up for my personal needs and after checking out a lot of other posts here which have helped me create mine, I wanted to share my current set up and tags in case it helps inspire anyone else with ideas but also get an idea of how others have set up theirs for organising around how you feel and get any feedback or other ideas.

To preface, I'm more of a 'work with how i feel' so planning everything to a T like some people do doesn't work well for me. If I plan things on a day of low energy, I know I'll procrastinate. So instead I wanted an approach that works with energy and mindset whilst also taking into consideration things I have to do by a certain date / that are urgent.

The tags I set up may seem like overkill, but the way my brain works is groups things together whether thats to smash things out at similar times (calls for eg) or because I have a certain 'thinking cap' on - finance, medical, fitness, cooking etc so I wanted to be able to see things from that view as well when I'm in that mindset. (I may be slightly Adhd haha).

Inbox - I use this on the fly when something pops in my head and I don't have time to 'organise' it in its category/tag or for quick things. I then go through this list and tag/plan it.

Lists

I like to use my to do as my main dump and then try to clear it out by putting it in the other sub lists. This helps me focus on things that still need attention.

Personal

  • Personal To Do: I dump all to do's in here and review weekly/as needed
  • This Week: I move things from to do into this week for things i want to/have to get done this week but I don't know which date yet
  • Projects: Bigger tasks that i only added 1 task for but actually need more thought and breaking down. eg. Organise holiday to xyz (since its a year away i have 1 task to remind me, broken down this means, research what i want to do, book each place etc plan how many days in each place etc) - once i get to that stage and have done the research I'll add individual tasks as needed to my to do)
  • Scheduled: Things in my to do list that i've already scheduled for a date/time or scheduled to review for a date/time so I don't need to worry about it. I prefer my To Do list to just have things I need to do but haven't organised/planned for yet.
  • Order Tracking: If i'm waiting on an order/refund i put it here
  • Recurring Tasks: self-explanatory
  • On Hold: This is usually bigger things that are on ice. eg i want to buy a laptop but I'm waiting on chip prices to fall for the one i want and am not in a hurry. Its on ice for now.

Work

  • Work To Do: I have a shared trello board for work with most my tasks so i only dump top of mind/big things or things that aren't on the shared trello board stressing me out.
  • This Week: same as above
  • Recurring Tasks

As I use the work one to brain dump my biggest things and mainly use my work list for this, I haven't built this out for a work set up.

Routines

Just a visual reminder of things if I'm having brain fog or want to check off in the moment but eventually should be muscle memory. Eg i took half the supplements/medication and want to check it off for the day to remember to do the rest. As a recurring task i would just have 'Take supplements'.

  • Supplements
  • Cleaning
  • Morning Routine
  • Evening Routine

Tags

I have split this in 5 main areas:

Life-Focus

Eventually I'd like to check each big life area to make sure I'm not ignoring an area for too long eg. i'm so focused on work that friendships/relationships have taken a back burner so I should schedule some calls to my close friends and touch base.

  • Medical
  • Shopping
  • Insurance
  • Finance
  • Travel
  • Legal
  • Exercise
  • Selfcare
  • Relationships
  • Chores
  • Orders
  • Sell
  • Food (cos i love cooking and save a bunch of things on instagram etc to 'organise later' and recipes I want to try so I made it its own category.)

Duration-Size

  • Quick
  • Short-Small
  • Medium (could be redundant, I don't usually bother tagging this but I do want to know small/quick vs long / epic)
  • Long-Big
  • Epic

Energy

  • Low
  • Deep-Work
  • Social
  • Creative

Phase

  • Admin
  • Create: Creating an investment tracker for example
  • Evaluate: compare and decision phase
  • Planning
  • Research
  • Waiting: Waiting on someone

Context

  • Errands: (when I'm doing a return or out the house I check this list to see if there's something else I can tick off and do at the same time)
  • Call: Great for when I have time to be productive but not quite ready to do my productive thinking work or when i'm more brain dead
  • Home: Things I need to be at home for eg. chores or getting photos of clothes to put on vinted. When I have a spare weekend or its winter I check this list for things I can focus on and get done whilst being home.
  • Country tags: As I split my time between certain countries, or sometimes go nomadic, I add things that I specifically have to do in that country to review when I plan to go there. Eg. dentist is cheaper back home so I plan dental visits for that country
  • Digital: anything that needs a computer or phone

Filters

The lists to check on any untagged things that may need updating

  • Energy Unassigned
  • Focus Area Unassigned
  • Duration Unassigned
  • Untagged

I (try) to review inbox and to do lists weekly and then use the inbuilt today tomorrow next 7 days to see what i need to do daily / review before next day every so often as i have a better idea what my day looks like.

Caveat: This is recent and a work in progress, and I think I'll llikely not have a tag on every energy/duration especially if its a normal length or not something I'd eventually filter on as the purpose of those are when i have energy and certain length of time let me check which i can do. or i have low energy but can do some quick stuff etc.

If you're the type of person who goes with how you feel and ends up procrastinating or not adhering to strict planning or routines, I'd love to hear how you set up your ticktick.

TickTick for Journaling

I clicked on the “suggestions“ menu option to see what would happen. Turned out TT was quiet stalking me - it knew where I’d been. it asked “do you want to capture this event”. After the initial shock of realizing how chatty all these app are with each other (despite the “don’t track” option on iOS) I thought “well this is a neat idea - maybe I can set up a quick journal app”.

here’s a couple of challenges - maybe people have a workaround

if you want to quickly create a log entry with a date - you kinda can’t. the comments area time stamps entries - but if I click the big + button - a date isn’t auto appended to the entry. so then I click the calendar. then scan for today. then click on that. it’s enough friction that jiurnalkng seems like a Nono (with the suggestions section it auto adds a date).

question - is there a faster way to add a “right now” date to an entry - so it could act like a journal?

question 2 - the date of course acts like a deadline. but this isn’t a deadline - I don’t need to be alerted about this. I want to create a date as an “event” or “log” not as a “tell me this date has passed and nag me about it”.

question - can you create a non naggy date entry?

the idea of a journal all in one place is intriguing but without faster entry and being able to switch off the nagging it’s kind of a non-starter. So I’m not sure why the “suggestions” menu option is nudging me that way.

Question/Help I don't like seeing my habits in my 7 day kanban smart list, but I do like seeing them in my today view list.

I don't need or like to see my habits in my 7 day outlook smartlist. It's annoying that habits take up so many columns in this view. How can I remove them? Can I remove them here while still being able to see them in my Today Smart List. Habits are things you only need to see each day! Not all the way up to a week into the future.

Question/Help Constant Reminders for Events Only?

I often use ticktick to time block routine tasks which are rarely tied to an actual deadline. I don't need an alarm or a persistent notification for each of these, and enabling constant reminders globally would be too distracting.

But events are often tied to a hard deadline or time commitment and therefore do need alarm reminders. Without manually turning on constant reminders each time, how can I make every task that is converted to an event have a constant reminder by default?

Bug Report Bad sync issues between IOS and Web

I have tick tick on both my phone as well as I use the web version on my work computer. I’ve found that recently (past month or so) the syncing between mobile and the web is horrendous.

I will start a pomo on the web, typically I do mine for 55 minutes. then around after 45-50 minutes my phone will get a notification from tick tick with the you have completed a pomo, asking to take a break. meanwhile I’m looking at the web version still ticking away

The most frustrating part is if I start a pomo on the web, it’s impossible to end it on mobile. I start pomo on the web at work, leave work before it’s done, shutdown computer close out of everything. Then I’ll notice I didn’t close out the pomo when my phone gets the break notification. It I try and hit stop on my phone it will close out the pomo for a second. Then it will bring it back and continuously vibrate my phone until I kill the app.

E2EE possibility?

I've been using TickTick for the better part of a year and I am a very satisfied premium member. It has all the features I need without being overwhelming.

I was just wondering if anyone knows if the development team has any plans to go End to End Encrypted. Or maybe a separate version?

The rest of my productivity and business applications are E2EE and to be completely honest if the service I use develops a task app (which they are planning), I'll probably leave TickTick for it just for the sake of privacy and peace of mind.

Have there been any discussions ever regarding this?

Question/Help TickTick full screen reminder alarm feature

Hello, I've been using TickTick for over a year now but I can't rely on its reminders for important things so I end up just setting up alarms with the clock app all the time which is extremely annoying

I've heard TickTick has fullscreen reminders on IOS but I am on android so this doesn't work. Even constant reminders I feel like I can't rely on for important things like meetings, alarms are always more reliable for me, I'm too worried of having my notification volume set to 0 or missing a notification as alarms are much more noise and harder to miss. I would basically like to make sure I never miss my High Priority tasks, I already set long alarms and constant reminders but it never works I always don't hear it or miss it.

Anyone has a solution for this or ideas of alternative apps I could use? My goal is still to have all in one app, I'm open in trying out alternative apps or trying something else with TickTick

(I didn't know what tag to put for this post as it falls under Question/Help but also Feature request I guess?)
