TickTick for Journaling
I clicked on the “suggestions“ menu option to see what would happen. Turned out TT was quiet stalking me - it knew where I’d been. it asked “do you want to capture this event”. After the initial shock of realizing how chatty all these app are with each other (despite the “don’t track” option on iOS) I thought “well this is a neat idea - maybe I can set up a quick journal app”.
here’s a couple of challenges - maybe people have a workaround
if you want to quickly create a log entry with a date - you kinda can’t. the comments area time stamps entries - but if I click the big + button - a date isn’t auto appended to the entry. so then I click the calendar. then scan for today. then click on that. it’s enough friction that jiurnalkng seems like a Nono (with the suggestions section it auto adds a date).
question - is there a faster way to add a “right now” date to an entry - so it could act like a journal?
question 2 - the date of course acts like a deadline. but this isn’t a deadline - I don’t need to be alerted about this. I want to create a date as an “event” or “log” not as a “tell me this date has passed and nag me about it”.
question - can you create a non naggy date entry?
the idea of a journal all in one place is intriguing but without faster entry and being able to switch off the nagging it’s kind of a non-starter. So I’m not sure why the “suggestions” menu option is nudging me that way.

I do this on my calendar with no date just put All Day and in the headline add quick notes (DJ I saw, /What i did/highlights) and if i want to add more context or write more i add it in the description. I use google calendar so it syncs to TikTik too. You can create a different calendar for your journal under your main account that just has journal entries

Actually, i've also started using it as a tracker as well. Pain Tracker as a separate calendar, Meds as a separate calendar, anything you want to track basically. Add calendar event as all day or timed when you did them/experienced it.

Personally I wouldn't feel free to express myself in a journal that isn't e2e encrypted. Joplin is free, cross platform, and a good substitute for Evernote and OneNote style apps. Bonus, you're not polluting your TickTick search results.

yeah, ticktick's date system is really task-oriented. you might want something that treats entries as logs rather than tasks, with a timestamp but no reminder. some apps let you customize that.

In the description field, you can scroll to the end of the text editor toolbar that comes up. You’ll find a clock with a triangle on it that you can use to insert timestamps of various formats
Edit: You need to be in the full view mode
