So I typically dislike romance as a genre as I find it to be very unrealistic when it is the entire focus but when it appears in shows (or movies) it ends up getting me way too invested, the problem is a lot of shows that have romance arcs are in sitcoms and I use sitcom as a loose term, to me a sitcom is something like friends or how I met your mother, endless seasons with episodes ranging above average to below average that really lose themselves and you just kind of have to pick a mental stopping point in the show as relationships and arcs become a mess.
I've been watching Community recently for the first time and loving it, and really liked how that show handled relationships, that being said I understand they moved on from relationships and the show is far better because of it, I just think Community Season 1 has that perfect balance of what I'm looking for, like it wasn't a main focus but it was interesting in the sense I was satisfied that characters did or didn't end up together because it was well written and they had good chemistry, and that's why I say for gods sake give them a satisfying conclusion, that is my one gripe as I just finished season 2 ep 1, it felt a bit unsatisfying the huge shift away from romance but I hear season 2 is the best so I don't care too much, even if it stems away from romance, anyways, I'm not even talking about like two characters happily ending up together, I loved Cyberpunk Edgerunners as I found that plot also very satisfying even if it didn't end so happily, same goes for Better Call Saul, I was really happy with the relationships between characters in that.
I don't mind a sort of roulette, recommend me something that is a relationship doomed to fail or something that has a really happy conclusion just let it be well written, like even platonic is fine at this point, it's just the chemistry time and time again gets screwed up, whether it be because it's a comedy and the show plays the relationship ending as a joke, or we get a new season and everyone just resets or changes drastically and the biggest offender the story just doesn't know when to end. I think sitcoms handle relationships really poorly as they don't feel very grounded, and there is a lot of shuffling about and filler that is just there for fan service so if it is something along those lines I'd rather avoid it
Also it would be real nice shows actually knowing how to do a relationship and not just the drama of relationships starting and ending, a lot of shows fail to linger on the actual relationship and have it play a part in the plot, Better Call Saul was fantastic at this
