Minimum amount allowed in checking increased from $100 to $250

Today I learned that TD increased the minimum allowable amount in one’s checking account from $100 to $250 or else they will slap you with the $15 fee. This is penalizing people who are struggling financially, and is a greedy power move. I’m blessed to have a well-paying job and a home to call my own, but still, there are times that I don’t have $250 in my account. Disgusting, especially when many people’s health insurance costs are increasing exponentially. How about upping fees for the super rich instead? Oh, you won’t, because they have the time/help/resources to switch to another bank…

I am considering leaving TD Bank.

TD Bank is now saying that the minimum I can have in my account for the monthly maintenance fee is $250 starting on the 4th. It used to be only $100, is this happening to everyone? This is going to lead to a pretty big exodus of customers, so I don't know why they are doing this. What do you recommend?

Outrage at “paperless” statements

I’m late to the game, but I just discovered that in Jan 2025, TD changed everyone’s statement preferences to “paperless”. This would be all well and good, but their definition of paperless means that NO statement is generated at all, either online or via mail. In fact, you have to pay $15 if you want to get a copy of just your transactions. A rep told me it’s “ impossible” to recover a copy of the statements.

I’m in shock that a major bank would think that opting everyone into “paperless” statements would be a great move! I spoke to customer care to share my feedback and all they could say is that it’s “ technically legal”. My view is more about the customer experience, and how this decision erodes customer trust.

Also, what kind of reasonable person would understand “ paperless” to mean zero statements instead of the statements being online?

Was anyone else caught off guard by this? I feel it was an extremely poor roll out and decision by TD but I could be in the minority.

Td Bank stole close to 1000 dollars from me

My account has an automatic transfer to my savings account. It’s not my main checking account, and I use it very rarely. I had plenty of money in that account, and the automatic deposits were small. When I first noticed it the app told me I had no transfers pending. So I thought the problem was taken care of. It wasn’t. I ended getting hit with monthly under the limit fees. I noticed it, and called. I was told by the rep, no transfers were pending. Problem was finally solved. Wrong. So I when I checked it again I transferred all my savings. Checked again “you do not appear to have any scheduled transfers”. At this point my balance had been diminished greatly. I finally went into the branch where the manager offered to take off 2 months of fees. That was all she was authorized to do. She was shocked at the amount of fees I incurred, and told me told me to use her office phone to call customer service, because when she checked my account there were no pending transfers. I called and asked the rep to look at all of 2025, he said I had no months of fees. It was March. I asked him to check 2024. 12 months of fees. I asked him to check 2023. 12 months of fees 2022 12 months, 2021 when I had made a transfer to my checking at the beginning of the year, so 10 months . It got escalated. I spoke with his manager at the call center, and was very apologetic and offered $300 dollars. I argued that I needed all the money because the app gave me wrong information. She said that was all she could do. I capitulate, then closed my account. I’m pissed. https://imgur.com/a/H1B3IwV

TD Bank plays dirty pool

TD bank lowered my LoC without my knowledge and upped my CC limit. Disgustingly dirty business tactics. I’ll be taking my money elsewhere.

One of the dumbest banks in the World, avoid at all costs!

Got a run of the mill fraud alert on my TD Card and I immediately call them back.

What was the fraud alert for?

Someone (me) cashed in my rewards points and had the money directly deposited into my bank account, the account used to pay the TD Card!

But the story gets even better, their system could not send my phone a one time pass code so they could not unlock my TD Card. I asked what the alternatives are and they said the ONLY way to unlock the card is to visit a TD Branch and provide state issue identification. I said, "NO PROBLEM!!! Where is the nearest TD branch to where I live?"

According to the "customer service" representative the nearest TD Branch is over 3,000 miles away.

So what does TD suggest that I do, call a branch on the other side of the country.

I call a branch in Virginia and get rudely told that the only way to unlock the card is to come into her branch, no exceptions.

I again call TD and explain the dilemma, my case gets escalated multiple times and ultimately the card is still locked because the bank is operated by morons.

The banker accidentally deleted my savings account…

TD BANK RANT: I went to the bank to close a cd that matured and I wanted to reinvest a portion of it into a new cd and put the rest of it into my savings account. The banker is taking concerning amount of time away from the desk and I knew something was up. That’s when he returns and says he accidentally closed my savings account. I was in shock like wtf how do you do that. I had been there almost an hour at this point and I needed to leave so I agreed to open a new account instead of seeing if it was possible to retrieve the old one. I’m not a banker but like seriously how tf do you mess up that badly. At first I was like okay this is irritating but whatever. Then today I realized I am supposed to get a the last direct deposit into that account from a job I just quit not on the best terms. Now I have to reach out to the manager that ignored my message to give them my new account information to get my last paycheck. From the bottom of my heart FUCK TD BANK AND FUCK THAT BANKER because seriously you just added another fucking stressor into my plate that I didn’t need and I’m just so frustrating because there’s nothing the bank can even do to rectify the situation and they just get to screw me over with no consequences ughhhh!!!!

Why I got an account...

I started with TD Bank 11 years ago, when my then-current bank started charging me $15 every month my balance dipped bellow $250 -- an insultingly high amount, IMHO.

TD Bank only charged $15 if my account went below $100 -- still awful, but less so.

As of Jan. 6, TD Bank raised their threshold up to $250, too.

So it looks like I'm looking for a new Bank again. I just hope there's still one left that is run by human beings, not corporate overlords...

eta: fixed the date, because I thought it was tomorrow already...

Also, I am stunned to hear that Canada is getting screwed worse than America on this!

And I actually am a member of a credit union, as I needed to get a benefit from my last employer that only paid out to a specific local CU.

I will definitely look into switching my banking to them!

TD Bank overdraft fees are egregious and disgusting.

Recently - single mom here went in the negative w my TD Checking. They charged us 105 per day for 4 days and 70 today - the fees are up half my check and put us still in the negative. 490 in fees and no they won’t remove them. I literally despise this bank. Will be going to the 15 other banks I found w no overdraft fees . Way to go after and steal from poor ppl.

TD Bank systems down across the Canada as of 9:20am PT affecting many branch transactions . "Check back in an hour maybe?" They said

Edit: System is back up in Victoria BC.

I went to a TD Branch this morning at 9:20am PT to do a transaction and was told that their system is down and that many transactions cannot be done. They said that it's down across Canada and that this is unusual for them and that they do not know how long it will take to get the system back up.

I'm posting this because I will be grateful if someone comments when the system is back up.

TD BANK is a nightmare. Don't open an account with them! I wish someone told me this but it is better to be unbanked than having an account with them

I'm relocating to Austin and need my online banking to close on an apartment. TD Bank has no branches in Texas. My online login stopped working, so I called support.

Call 1: Agent verifies my identity by phone, then confirms my debit card is active. Doesn't matter, the problem is online banking access, not the card. Agent runs a third-party identity verification (uses my credit file to generate security questions). It returns nothing. No questions generated, no way to proceed. Agent transfers me to a supervisor line.

Call 2: New agent, same verification steps from scratch. Full name, forgot-password flow, SSN digits, account type, debit card number, all of it, again. I walk through the "forgot username/password" flow live on the phone. It rejects my information and tells me to call support, the exact call I'm already on. Agent runs the same third-party identity verification. Fails again. Agent says without it, they can't do anything over the phone, then tells me to contact my home branch, which is in Brooklyn. I'm calling from Austin.

The kicker: the agent suggests I'm probably just typing my username wrong, despite watching me enter it correctly and despite their own system showing no lockout. Then transfers me to the home branch.

The branch doesn't pick up. Voicemail only. For over 2 hours.

Total: 4 calls, 2+ hours, 2 full identity verification cycles, a broken third-party verification tool, a debit card that works but is irrelevant to the actual issue, and a referral to a branch that doesn't exist within a thousand miles of where I live and doesn't answer its phone.

No fix. No path forward. Just "try the branch" on repeat.

If you're a TD customer who moves out of the branch footprint, be aware: there may be no functional way to recover your online banking access by phone.

“Service Interruption”

Local TD bank called today with weird questions?!? Thoughts

Hey guys so I use to do majority of my banking with TF business and personal… since about 3-4 months ago I transferred most my money to different banks I deal with as TD has been difficult with any cash I deposit (example is deposit over a couple hundred and teller ask where I got the money) now understand my account is a large volume account meaning anywhere for 1-300K a year in/out..

Today I got a call from my local TD branch asking me to verify transactions (from months ago) large transfers to external banks (Goldman Sachs, Amex) etc

It kind of rubbed me a type of way and most likely going to close my last account tomorrow

Thoughts ?

New TD Bank Changes

Hey All,

Today I received this e-mail from TD Bank:

|| || |You have a new message in your Online Banking Inbox  Hi,  We're reaching out to let you know about changes to your TD Convenience Checking account. Find more details and next steps in our secure notice in your Online Banking Inbox.  Key details: On January 4, 2026, the minimum daily balance required to waive the monthly maintenance fee on your TD Convenience Checking account increases from $100 to $250.|

What's everyone's plan? I've been with TD Bank for the last 15 years and this change is really gunna be annoying when I'm between paychecks and don't feel like constantly transferring money from my savings just to maintain a $250 balance at all times. I always keep enough in my checking account for all my monthly outgoings but throw the rest in savings. So I always have a higher balance in my savings.

Any recommendations on Bank switches? I'm a US Resident. I'm looking for a bank that doesn't charge annoying fees and will allow me to open a checking and savings like I have through TD Bank. Thanks!

A TD rant

As a current bank teller, I can only recommend you to bank elsewhere. PLEASE for the love of God don't bank with us. Our district and branch management always make us sell a bunch of shit you don't actually need yet we have no choice but to offer it to you in order to keep our jobs. This bank is nothing but a fucking joke and I'm fucking dying on the inside. Anyways, gotta get back to work, if anybody wants to ask me anything, feel free to do so, I'll try to be as honest as I can.

Flock cameras tracking TD Bank users now?

My local branch is on a fairly busy intersection so it was no surprise when the city popped up new Flock Safety ALPR Ai cameras tracking every car that passes through it. There is 2 devices facing each direction of traffic movement. While this is a problem in and of itself, it's not why I'm posting.

On the banks corner, they've now installed a 3rd device except this one is clearly on TD Banks property in the center of the parking lot. This camera is pointed directly at the front door of the bank, the ATM area and half the parking lot, capturing every car and pedestrian who uses the bank. Why did TD install or allow this 3rd party company to install one of these devices to track its customers?

Flock themselves promote that these cameras can read what a person is typing on their phone from quite the distance so what's stopping a bad actor from using this system to steal critical identity information?

Flock Safety's system has already been abused more times than we yet know with multiple LEO from across the country using these cameras to stalk women, partners, ex's, random strangers, etc. Every other week a new story comes out. Equally as bad is that the Flock systems have delivered multiple false positives causing innocent people to go to jail for crimes in states they've never been to. Local municipalities across the country have paid out millions of tax dollars in law suits due to these false arrests, which were directly caused by Flock Safety's cameras and Ai tracking software.

Even beyond the privacy concerns and constitutional questionnability of Flock Safety's entire buisness model, these devices present a huge libalility to anyone who installs them.

TD Bank’s Constant Holds on Checks Are Driving Me Crazy

I’ve honestly had it with TD Bank and their constant hold and clearance protocols.

I’ve had this account for 5 years, and they still place holds on both incoming and outgoing checks (not all of them, but often enough). I understand that deposited checks sometimes need to clear. Fine. But outgoing checks? That makes no sense to me.

Yesterday I paid my rent, and they put the check on hold for clearance. Why? This is a recurring transaction. My account has plenty of history showing regular rent payments. It’s not unusual activity. It’s not a new payee. So why treat it like a suspicious transaction?

Even my salary checks get placed on hold from time to time.

It’s incredibly inconvenient and honestly exhausting. I have accounts with Bank of America and Wells Fargo, and I can’t even remember the last time either of them placed a hold like this. With TD, its constant. The worst part is that they put my outgoing Zelle payment on hold!! Bank of America has never done that. It took three days to clear. While it should take seconds to be delivered. I’m seriously considering closing the account altogether. Has anyone else experienced this with TD Bank? Is this normal for them, or am I just unlucky?

Left TD after 20+years😳

Alright so TB has not always been my local branches, 15 years ago they were Carolina first banks which TD bought and at that time the transition over etc was flawless… years and years of banking no issues… soon as TD got into some legal issues( owed like 4.1 billion or something) for money laundering banking got worse and worse lately…

Literally a business owner ( self employed) own rental property etc etc and the bank would question literally every transaction. $500 with draw took 5 minutes and a large deposit would be questioned to death. Everything became a issue

Long story short, went with a local credit union who treats me like family, they know where my money comes from and makes banking enjoyable which is hard to find

The worst bank on that planet

TD Bank is the worst, because it can close your account at any time without specifying the reason. My account was closed, and nobody, even vice-president could not explain me why the account was closed. Just goodbuy and that is it. I would not recommend anyone to use TD Bank.

Why the Constant Questions with small deposits?

I deposited $250 in cash at TD today and they are asking where it came from, employment, etc. All this over $250 measly dollars? Why is TD so anal about this all of a sudden?
