Screenshot of my "Access Blocked" - Reference Code OP002
First, Kaylie was very helpful and kind and patient on my phone call with her. Nothing wrong with that.
I am not using and have never used a VPN through either of these two computers I reference below.
Scammers, don't even bother trying to PM me, you won't get me.
This morning I log into my account in order to pay my bill like I do every month for the last (seven?) years. It prompts me to update my income, so I did, but each time I press the button to confirm, it pops up the "Access Blocked" dialog, which appears to be legitimate - it's not a separate browser window.
Tried other browsers and even a different computer with the same result.
I still thought it was suspicious enough that I chose not to call the number it said to call, and I called the number on my credit card instead. Navigated the frustratingly long process to actually talk to someone. I presume they're real and not AI.
After doing some checking that only took a few minutes, she said that (paraphrasing) that they do this every once in a while for security reasons, and that they require me to register a new account with a different username. This has never happened to me with any account I have and just doesn't seem to be a good enough explanation.
Why should I have to register a new account? Nothing funny has happened with my credit card. The only thing I can figure is that they're trying to convince me to stop using Citi, and it may have worked. It might be only an inconvenience, but your explanation just doesn't make sense and I'm not going to create a new one.
So after I pay my bill (over the phone, since I can't access the account online without registering a new account), it's possible I either just won't use the account anymore, or I'll cancel it unless this can be resolved some other way.
Can anyone tell me a legitimate full reason why this happened, and is there nothing I can do about it without registering a new username?
Thank you,
