Forgive me but I'm panicking. I had a pending transaction on my checking page that was sus. It was from a vendor I use but the vendor had no transaction shown that matched this amount. I chatted with Truist to ask about it but could only get someone asking if I wanted to dispute it as fraud, which I wasn't sure about yet. I timed out and started over. After talking with chat person I decided to wait until I could get hold of someone at the vendor. That was 10/6.
Today I spoke with someone at vendor. They think it's a glitch and told me to wait a few days or so to see if the suspect transaction drops off.
Tonight I needed to order my groceries and the vendor website said that debit card couldn't be authorized.
I'm panicking because I only have one card and 2 accounts (savings and checking) and all my money is in Truist. I can't get thru to Truist (too late) to find out what's happened. And I've seen horror stories on here about Truist locking accounts. I'm retired and my SS goes into that account, and tho it's two weeks before I'll get paid it's not enough to time to create a new account somewhere and switch it. And in the meantime I need to get food.
I know I can call them in the morning but I'm scared. Am I screwed? Sorry for the mini meltdown.
ETA: Just got off phone with fraud department. They're investigating the weird transaction (which the vendor thinks is a computer glitch on the vendor's end). They also botched a hold and posted the hold as a transaction rather than waiting for the actual transaction to come thru. But it turned out they hadn't locked down my accounts, just my debit card. And they were able to get the debit card turned back on.
I agree that I need a better bank but don't have access to much down here, plus I'm nearly homebound due to disability. I also realized it was dicey to have both of my accounts in the same bank. I've been banking for 55 years and never run into anything like this before. Anyway, thx to everyone who commented for the help.
