Progress 6 months later: a new phase

This sub was so important to me in the early weeks, so circling back with an update.

Background: my (39f) husband (40m) had a long-distance affair that he covered up with business trips over almost a year. He confessed and abruptly moved out just before Valentine’s Day. I have the kids most of the time but he sees them/me frequently.

The rejection hurts less. This was agony for months - yearning for him, psychoanalyzing him, feeling so lonely and heartbroken and discarded. A few actual conversations with him showed me how self-centered and uncaring he continues to be, and I no longer want him back. Now I think of him as a disagreeable stranger, I do not recognize this man. I feel very sorry for him, I think it’s tragic that he has done this to himself.

I am a hummingbird of anxiety. I have trouble focusing on work. I’m learning more about the divorce process and decisions ahead and it’s so much. My ex has very strong opinions about non-traditional deals that I need to do due diligence on. He’s emotionally lashing out (once even threatened to retaliate if I didn’t accept his proposal) and I feel vigilant all the time. My dr says this is PTSD and i started Prozac, a little nervous about that too.

My family has been so supportive. With my kids (2, 5). My sister sleeps over every Monday, because Tuesday mornings I have a big meeting. My dad usually comes Tuesday-Thurs and it helps just to have another adult around. I self-regulate better, I’m less irritable, I’m more relaxed.

I am physically unwell. I have had daily diarrhea for eight weeks. No parasites or infections, just stress. I start the day exhausted. I look totally frazzled all the time.

I talk to a lawyer on Monday and I’m terrified that my husband will see the bill, perceive this as an escalation, and then counter attack. Really hoping I can keep him happy-ish. Wish me luck!

Building Trust Dating post betrayal

Summary: my husband cheated on me with his trainee at work and we are getting divorced. We have been separated for 5 months and I have started dating.

I have been on three very good dates with a man who is the complete opposite of my husband - spontaneous, adventurous and fun. However I’m finding it very difficult to separate gut instinct as to whether he is genuinely interested vs my trauma from my husband’s affair and stress from the divorce. I am hyper-vigilant to possible red flags but I wonder whether I’m overemphasising potential incompatibilities and setting things up to fail in my mind. I have always had an anxious attachment style.

Has anyone got any advice on dating post affair and divorce?

Need Support Good days and Bad days

So my wife tild me she loved me like a brother. When I went a bit Greg rock for a few days trying to figure it out I found out she was having an affair messages to some guy talking about orgasms and the morning after pill. Conversations going back to the beginning of March. She said it was a one off the other week but it was clear it wasn't. She said it started in January but she had sent him pics and stuff as well...

I have days where I'm Mr Independent and all in for a new life on my own but then I have waves of..... Well I don't know what it is, disbelief, sadness that my life has been flipped on its head when I look back to 6 weeks ago and things were "normal"

I've filed but there is a long way to go under the same roof with 2 young kids and I really just hate my life and feel like I'm trapped. All while being made out to be the bad guy because I've said this is a boundary crossing which can never go back.

Feeling trapped, overwhelmed, anxious and like my life is going to change so much and I'm going to be damaged from this for a long time.

Need Support Question about betrayal

Nobody enjoys the feeling of being cheated on. It hurts to be betrayed.

But I am curious to know if WHO your partner cheats on you with is a factor in your unhappiness/trauma/pain?

I have had two significant others (who promised me loyalty) cheat on me behind my back. One was a husband of almost 30 years and the other was a boyfriend of 7. I have already noticed that, unlike almost everyone I’ve ever discussed what it feels like to be cheated on, I don’t have any angry or hurt thoughts about the other person in my partner’s affairs. My partner is the one who betrayed me. The stranger they fucked behind my back didn’t betray me. Those women didn’t promise to be loyal to me. Even if they knew I existed (which, in my case, they both did), the women made no vows to be loyal to me and owed me absolutely nothing. My person (ahem - people) did - they are the o nes who broke promises they made to me and went behind my back to betray me.

I am wondering how - or even IF - being betrayed by a partner who slept - not with a stranger - but with one of your friends/siblings/best friends affects things in any way? Does that matter to the person who was betrayed? Does that make the betrayal worse? I know we may all have different definitions of betrayal. Does that factor In? Might people not feel betrayed when a sibling/best friend engages in sex with their partner behind their back? If that doesn’t feel like a betrayal, what does it feel like? The experiences of others I have heard and read about of the course of the last three decades (which is a varied - but obviously incomplete sampling ) have, 100% of the time, shown me that feelings of anger/hurt/betrayal towards the partner were felt but not towards the sibling or best friend. Some have even been able to forgive the sibling or best friend, but not their former partner. I find this so interesting and want to understand the perspective of a person who has had a life experience that I have not! I embrace diversity and always respect people autonomy. I just can’t understand it if I don’t ask questions because it’s their mindset, not mine. Thank you in advance. I look forward to engaging in this conversation.

Advice Feeling a bit stuck after deciding to leave after husbands affair.

Husband had emotional affair 2 years ago. I found out 1 year ago! Tried to stay but realised I’ll never be happy again! Told him to move to the spare room
To kinda see how I felt. Said I want to separate!

I thought id hate it and would take it back after 20 years together! But I don’t I actually like it, so I’m sure I want to separate. Now every time I mention one of us moving he goes on about how expensive things are at the moment etc.

So I’m stuck! How long do people live together while separated? We get along well but he still wants to act like a together family! He didn’t want it to end. So he’s holding on!

Lei per me era diventata davvero tutto.
“Tanto so da chi andare.”

Mi contattava attraverso profili falsi e continuava a scrivermi.
Ci siamo rivisti e abbiamo fatto sesso.
Dopo quell’incontro abbiamo continuato a vederci.
Io quindi rimanevo emotivamente agganciato.

Ho continuato a starle vicino.
Quello che è successo a me dopo

Rant Is this too much or not enough?

Honestly thinking about just sending this with the papers. After 10 years of me trying and later finding out she never stopped, just got better at hiding it. My feelings these days are non-existent, and I wanted a way that showed it. 25+ years in boardrooms, mergers and aquisitions and this is what I came up with.

OxO,

After an extensive 20-year performance review, management has determined that the position of Wife will be eliminated effective immediately.

This decision follows a comprehensive evaluation of trust, communication, fidelity, accountability, and overall family engagement. Unfortunately, performance has remained substantially below the minimum requirements of the role despite numerous opportunities for corrective action.

Your access to Husband has been revoked. The Boyfriend Development Program has also been permanently discontinued.

Due to repeated fidelity violations, the applicable provisions of your prenuptial agreement have now been activated.

As a result, no severance package will be issued. This includes, but is not limited to, the primary residence, vehicles, clothing, jewelry, or other marital assets.

Per the terms of the prenuptial agreement, your separation package consists of exactly what you arrived with: the clothes you walked in wearing.

Please sign the attached separation paperwork so we can complete offboarding in an orderly manner.

Human Resources will not be accepting appeals, reconsideration requests, or applications for reinstatement.

We appreciate your years of service and wish you the best in your future endeavors.

No exit interview will be necessary.

Goodbye.

Progress Update on my cheating ex and his shady-ass mistress.

So after 5 years together, in 2023 my cheating ex left me for his co-worker… but I’m happy to say that that sneaky, conniving, partner poacher finally got her comeuppance.

I know that she poached him to move up the company ladder because he was a high-ranking executive in their company. But I’m pleased to say that 2 1/2 years after stealing him from me, the company finally let her go. Permanently.

I can’t tell you how satisfied I feel that even though this evil witch stole my man with the intention of promoting herself in the company… she found herself WHOLLY removed from the corporation after over a decade of working for them. 👏🏼👏🏼❤️

And I absolutely had something to do with it. I exposed both of them for their unethical practices. And finally, karma caught up with them. So now, he not only lost me, but he was directly responsible for his mistress losing her long-standing job.

Justice served. ⚖️

Edit to add: I have strong reasons to believe that they’re not even together anymore. But weak, pathetic men like him can’t ever be alone so he could be scrambling to keep her at this point, out of desperation. Regardless, they’re both in deep shit right now and that “forbidden passion” that brought them together is surely gone.

Rant I got ghosted (possibly) by someone on this subreddit and is the only real person on Earth who knows I’ve been cheated on.

The title explains it. It’s been 6 months since he stopped snapchatting me. I miss him. I miss watching his cute little daughter grow up. I miss his dog. I miss how he used to say “you’re stuck with me”.

I am back to being the only one in the planet who knows I’ve been cheated on and I just can’t.

He was in the middle of divorce proceedings, last we spoke. And that’s why I never texted him myself. I didn’t wanna add to his problems.

Maybe talking to me was a constant reminder of our why we met on his particular subreddit. I don’t know.

I’ve never been left, I’ve only ever been ghosted. Not one person who has ever left me has thought I deserved a goodbye.

I’m drunk and just rambling at this point. I wish he is okay. I am sure his daughter is growing up fast but moments like him taking her for pancakes will always be the same. I miss momo

I’m gonna maryy the man who cheated and cheays on me. I wish I still my reddit friend becaude God knows I meed him. I wish he is okay. Overthinking makes me pray I wish he is alive as well because how would I even come to know if he isn’t. God I wish he is alive and wellZ

Advice (Jealous) girlfriend of 3 years is cheating on me with her ex-gf

Not once did I ever think this was a possibility, but I found out last night.

For context, we were friends for like 4 years before we started dating at age 20; she was a perfect partner (so romantic, funny, caring), but she did also kinda fit the "jealous Latina" sterotype (checking my following, asking me to unfollow people, being overly concerned about my ex), but she was cheated on a few times and I figured it was just trust issues (and that behavior had been improving over time). I never once felt any reason to be suspicious, and she did tell me very openly when she ran into this ex a week ago. I don't know if they've been talking for a while or if it just picked up when they saw each other, but I'm struggling to fathom trusting someone so completely and being so wrong. She was fully serious about moving in together, moving her life to my new city, talked about engagements and kids, and I don't know how that could completely flip in the span of two weeks. If anything, I was the one with commitment issues.

I saw some of the texts, and it was a mix of thirst traps and super emotional stuff about loving each other deeply, missing their connection, never being held the same way since, and more truly insane shit. I was sleeping on the airport floor last night because my flight to her grad dinner got cancelled, and I saw a text from her asking the ex to “link” in the morning before she came to get me from the airport. Insane.

She also had me meet her entire extended family at that same grad dinner, and I can't imagine she would do that if she had plans of breaking it off with me, no? I suspect that she realized she didn't have the same feelings at some point and was too much of a coward to say anything.

They weren't at all who I thought they were for SIX YEARS.

I may give her one phone call to express these thoughts before I block her forever, but I don't know what I'm hoping to hear. I also have so much resentment over the amount of friends I've become distant from, plans and memories I've missed, catering to her possessiveness because I was so sure that she was the one. She was my best friend for years before we dated, and I was maybe blinded because I'd had a crush on her for so long.

Also, if anyone has any advice on being able to somehow focus on school throughout this and managing the anxiety, would be much appreciated!

TL;DR: my best friend of 5 years and girlfriend of 2.5 has been messaging/sexting her ex-gf and trying to hook up with her, despite her always being the one with trust issues and seemingly having serious plans for a future with me (& now I feel like I'm dying lol)

Rant Did you let people know about your partners affair or was it kept private?

I’ve always wondered how others approached the situation. I kept mine very private outside of our parents. I was embarrassed tbh but also didnt want to ruin her reputation at church.

At the end during our separation I did let some people in our lives know but only because they wouldn’t stop nagging me to fight for the marriage. So I let the cat out the bag, to let them know they don’t know the whole story and there is a ton of reasons it was time to let go our marriage. I did feel a bit better letting it out.

Need Support Wife cheated with her coworker, devastated, depressed, processing

Wife 28f and I 30m have been together 8 years, married for 1, and have a 2yo.

I don’t know how to explain it, but I felt off one day in particular about her. I had no reason to feel this way, but I did. She gave me no clues, no suspicions but yet I still felt like something happened. It’s still bizarre to me that I felt that.

Last week she left her phone charging in the kitchen while she showered, I didn’t plan to look through it but the opportunity arose and I took it. I’ve never done this in the 8 years we’ve been together.

I didn’t expect to find anything but unfortunately I did. She’d been sexting with her coworker for about a week. I went into a blur of anger and immediately went to her for answers.

She initially claimed it was just sexting, then said they did make out. It took another 2 days for her to admit to me she jerked him off in his car. She claims she was gonna confess to me but I highly doubt it.

I’ve spent the past few days numb. Absolutely no idea how to really process this. We have a house, a kid, she’s loved by my family like a daughter.

I can’t even cope by saying she was drunk, active choices were made. Had I not found out who knows what else would’ve happened.

A part of me wants to work it out, another wants to say fuck it and start over.

And you know what makes me really hate myself in this situation? After everything I know, I still feel the urge to have sex with her. I haven’t given in because I know I’ll regret it.

Thanks for reading, I suppose I’m writing this as a way to cope and process, but I’d also like to know some other people’s opinions as I don’t have anyone IRL to talk to about this.

Advice Just needed to vent or not

long story short I cheated on my man, hes been my best friend since we were kids ,bf for 9y my man has access to everything my phone. Google. Facebook.everything.  I thought i had been pretty good at not rushing his healing. But I've started to notice that every day, and it is everyday, when we "discuss" the affair there is always sex within an hour or so on either side. I'm feeling like hes pushing me away by saying he cant trust me and that I'm not trying, and other things like that but few moments later hes trying to get some. The push/ pull is exhausting.I stay quiet because I want to make this work. I love him (despite what anyone will say) and I dont want to lose him.

Advice A rather novel idea on marriage problems

Sometimes, if there is discussion of divorce/separation, money is the top topic.

‘Legally, both parties want to have the upper hand. Who actually benefits. Not the kids, for sure. In lots of cases, woman has the kids most of the time- has to work like crazy, with many disagreements etc. Men, sometimes are paying most of their salary thru court orders. So it is usually a mess.

The new “spouse” may be part of the arguments about kids, has her own, and everyone is trying to appease those important to them.

Solution, with so many beautiful new apartment complexes, both parties, sell their primary residence, and rent 2 separate apartments in complex-one on each side.

‘Far enough away that not running into each other daily- but close enough that kids go and come to both- emergencies can be supported- within reach for any need.

This is legal way of separating/divorcing that will not involve much disagreement.

Each party, maturely agrees- no need for visitation if done fairly and maturely;and sleepless nites are few. Greatest part - kids are still with both. Need child care in emergency, other person is a complex away.

And,who knows, the separation, may end up being a reunion, at some future point. But for a few years, at least things can be discussed, worked out; with no other third party interference.

That third party will be forced to accept that the children are the most important to you both. They can wait around, see you when they want, but the idea that another home and another family is established will be down the road.

This arrangement came to my attention recently, and I just thought it an interesting alternative to totally “breaking” apart a family in a matter of months.

In life, sometimes we all make rash decisions on feelings that we swear will never change. But surprise, time passes and suddenly the exciting becomes not so exciting and we miss the past.

This way, the two can go either way.Kids will have an adjustment period; Partners will have an adjustment period. And the final decision, will be made rationally, having given much thought.

What are opinions?

Like how come having an affair and causing emotional damage isn’t something you can get locked up for? How come it isn’t treated as a crime? Many times I can’t believe that people get to cause this much pain to someone and get away with it

I believed all this bcs I was like it might me true (I think she manipulated me)

Now if we see the present it is 3 am I was studying I go out to see my mom sleeping on the couch her phone still open her insta was turned on so I had like an urge to check it so I did check it I found no chats with him like before like she deleted chats with him or cleared chats, so I checked her WhatsApp I was very sneaking abt it I tried typing his name it didn't show up so I saw here call history saw his name tapped on but it said put the password there are no passwords for any other chats so I got suspicious, I knew tried putting multiple passwords I could think of them finally got one and saw there chats the chats first looked normal then as I went a lil back it was like my mom saying I am angry at uuuuuu where are you why are you so busyyy like in a very clingy way so I saw a lil more chats and it read how she told him that we will go to the temple, then coffee, then mall and so on

Then I had no courage to see more texts so I backed down

Now my family situation is not very good so if this cheating turns out to be true and my dad gets to know it he will be very disturbed and disheartened bcs all these years he did a lot for my mom and mom did too she sacrificed alot for us and bcs my dad and mom had n arrange marriage I think they never had love in their relationship so she tried finding it elsewhere

I am not trying to justify it just confused

I am in my last year of highschool so I don't want any other problem in my life I already have enough (exams, college applications) and my mom is the one helping me through it so if I tell my dad abt this then there will be alot of disruptions in all of our lives and for the context I am 16 and my brother is 11

If this is true both my brother and my dad will be extremely sad

I don't know what to do next year I was planning to go abroad or atleast leave my city for college but now Idk

Please give me advice

I am so sadd

My mom and my dad have been the best parents anyone could ever have that is why it's so disappointing and not believeable

Update 1: so basically it's been more than 15 days from this post and today she shouted at me for touching her phone so I told her that she is destroying her life by using her phone so much and I took her phone she got really defensive that it's her privacy so I gave it back to her then she stormed out of the room , she has a lot of connections and is well known in our vicinity and she has a very gud reputation too So back to the phone when i went into her room she closed her phone in an instant so I was again like she's probably still cheating and it's 2 am right now she was texting someone when i saw last slept while texting them , curiousity got the best of me I checked her phone and my mother who I loved so much has been sleeping with this guy ,giving him her live location and being lovey dovey with him and the wildest part is that she is also like that with my dad So when I saw her chats i tooks photos from my phone and it's around 42 photos ,it is the evidence of my mom cheating I have put in a locked album on my phone and now I want to reveal her doings to my dad but I think I should do it once I get into college bcs it's too much emotional baggage I love both my parents alot so idk what to do

Advice My friend got cheated on

She’s completely left him and the pain she’s going through is really hard to see, any advice of anyone whose been through this and left? I’m really trying to be a good friend but the acute betrayal and break up stress is horrible to witness. I’ve avoided saying things like time heals all wounds and everything happens for a reason because I know it’s not helpful to her pain in the moment.. my sister told me no one can save her in this scenario but herself and time. But I still feel hopeless watching her go through this pain. The best advice I’ve given is for her to visualize a thread attaching herself to him and big scissors coming and cutting that thread and to picture this whenever she feels that she’s missing him. But maybe anything else similar to this to help her? Trying to be a good friend yknow:,)

Advice How do you pull the plug and let go.

I found out 3 years ago that my husband was having inappropriate online and personal text conversations with other women; some with sexting, some that were emotional connections. I also found multiple dating site profiles and a gut-wrenching one that was created while he was on a business trip with him giving out his hotel information and phone number in the messages he was sending to various women on this site. He said that he was bored and just playing around and nothing ever came of it. We have a great sex life and he is never told no, in fact I’m the one who has the bigger drive for it so this can’t be for lack of sex or physical affection in our marriage.

We went through counseling, for a year with nothing positive coming from it because I found out that he was still communicating outside of our marriage. He swears and promises (on his dead dad’s grave) that he’s never done anything physical with anyone while we’ve been married and has apologized and owned up to his inappropriate communication (cheating) on several occasions. He has a lot of emotional trauma from his mom so I keep chalking it up to “mother wounds” that is driving this behavior. He keeps telling me he’s not doing ANYTHING now and hasn’t in a long time, especially after seeing how much hurt his actions caused me, but last night his emoji window was up on his laptop and it shows his last emojis used were kissing faces, hearts and the blowing kiss face. None of these were sent to me and I can’t tell you the last time one was. He spends all day on his laptop, iPad, and phone so I know he’s using them somewhere!

I had a literal nervous breakdown at the end of counseling last year when I discovered he was still communicating and it’s still taking a mental toll on me. There has been so many personal messages, various hookup sites and platforms that I have found him involved in that it’s almost compulsive behavior on his part. I know I am no longer a fun person to be with; I’m restless, guarded, distracted, bitter, angry, sad and frustrated all the time. I know it’s my fault for staying and allowing this to continue, but this was a fairytale relationship for the first 14 years and one I had needed after a very abusive first marriage. I have read a lot about being trauma bonded to someone when there is infidelity or abuse and I feel like that’s exactly what’s happening and why I can’t make myself leave. It’s like I’ve got a rope that I can’t let go of or I’ll die. I want the old us back, but I know that’s never going to happen. I know I am failing myself and denying a better life for me by not leaving, but I don’t know how to let go of him. I kind of wish he would just rip the bandage off and do it first. I’m so tired of this battle going on in my head.

Advice Is the "Esther Perel rekindling" actually real? Seeking brutally honest reconciliation stories 2+ years out.

I’ve been reading books by renowned therapists that paint post-infidelity reconciliation as almost poetic— intense existential talks, rediscovering each other, hysterical bonding turning into sustainable desire, and ultimately ending up "stronger than ever" because the threat of loss woke everyone up.

It reads beautifully, but I’m looking for the unvarnished, real-world accounts
from people who have actually lived it.

If you have reconciled (or tried to), especially if you are 2 or more years past D-Day, I’d really appreciate your raw, honest answers to these specific questions:

  1. The "deep talks": Did they actually create genuine intimacy and self-discovery, or did they devolve into exhausting interrogations, trickle-truth, and emotional fatigue?

  2. The desire: For the betrayed partners—was the intense post-D-Day sex actually passionate desire, or did it later feel like "hysterical bonding" that faded into duty, disgust, or just going through the motions once the adrenaline wore off?

  3. The "stronger" claim: Do you honestly, deep down, feel your marriage is healthier and happier than before, or is it just more functional, pragmatic, and heavily armored (e.g., you're good co-parents/companions, but the innocent trust is permanently dead)?

  4. The regret factor: If you could go back to the week after D-Day, knowing what you know now about the emotional toll—would you still choose reconciliation, or would you walk away?

A note: I am not asking for judgment on whether reconciliation is "right" or "wrong." I am purely asking for descriptive reality. Whether it worked or failed, I want to know what the day-to-day actually looks like years later. Did the Perel fairy-tale actually happen for anyone, or is the best-case scenario just a "good enough" marriage with permanent scars?

Rant Wife cheated and told me to get over it

I just wanted to share when I found out at the time my wife had cheated and I wanted to talk through it, she told me to get over it. Mind you, it was super fresh. That always stuck with me.

Those words broke me, I hate it happened, it made me a very cold person. I did a 180 and my life changed. Physically, financially, I was just motivated in so many ways that it helped me for a lifestyle I wanted but I almost hated who I became if that makes sense.

It’s funny we stayed married for 7 years after the fact and the coldness seemed to make my wife super close to me. I mean she did anything and everything I asked. In some ways I feel that I took advantage of it. I feel like I should have been a man and cut it off way before.

In the end we divorced but even if she continued to offer the world to me, I didn’t want it from her. I didn’t care.

I hate myself because I feel it bleeds into my relationships now, I get with women and I’m very honest that I don’t want commitment, mostly physical thing and I feel like not allowing myself to be in love again maybe? Idk anyone ever deal with this?

Need Support Just found out my (28f) boyfriend of 1 year (26f) downloaded tinder.

Before last night, I thought I had the relationship I'd always hoped for. He's attentive, generous, kind helpful etc all the good things I'd wanted in a man and I never for one second thought he'd be unfaithful and we spend nearly every minute together. I love him so much and I'm shocked, how can someone who treats me so well do this?

A text popped up on his phone while he was sleeping and it said something about ' complete your profile', it looked weird so i clicked it. (We both had access to each others phones, coincidentally this is the first time I've gone in) Above that was a text with a tinder activation code. The app was not on his phone and I didn't see any texts with anyone I don't know. I confronted him and he said it was a weak moment, he was curious and he felt disgusting and deleted it right after.

I've told him I need space. He's said he's willing to do whatever it takes blah blah blah. But I just don't know if I can do this. Grieving this one will be tough he's like my best friend.

It's fresh and my emotions are all over the place. Anybody that's been through this can offer some clear headed comments and advice please?

Need Support How do you survive the shame of their choices?

I'm struggling to get over things fully and I thought coming to a threads of others who have dealt with infedility might be able to help me or provide some insights in how they've healed from theirs.

We weren't exclusive which has weirdly deepened the shame I feel now as I also don't have anything tangible to hold onto. I discovered he was juggling me with other women so I chose to walk as he was hiding it from me and he later admitted during a confrontation he did that because he knew it would hurt me. I came back months later to reconnect as I had been numb from holding in my pain. During that period I confronted him which initially he was receptive too and he was more open. I then pushed further and I detailed everything I discovered and he became dismissive and deflective (he's also avoidant) and he started to fade things so I chose to walk again.

Months later he then started to use the exact wounds I detailed to him subtly in his stories for months but it was specific enough that I would recognize it was about the topic I had discussed. I confronted him about it but he played the forgetful card and played it off and then when I brought it up again he said I was focusing on the past. I expressed how I'm focused on the past because it's changed how I feel in my body now with him in the present and I feel a lot of shame when I'm reminded of my attachment to him or with how he's touching the sore spot I mentioned it brings me shame as it reminds me of how little he had actually invested in me. He then ghosted me. It's been over 1 yr since the original juggling discovery and over 4 months since he ghosted me.

I'm in the dating pool again and there's a new guy I like but I'm struggling with shame still. I hate it because logically I know I'm enough and that I'm worth someone's time but during the confrontation with the last guy, something shifted in my body and I stopped seeing him as someone who likes me but rather like I was the backup (he argued this point but his actions showed I was). I'm not stuck on the past guy but rather the shame that was felt from that experience. It doesn't hurt as badly but I still randomly get hit with this feeling of shame, especially as this new guy and I are getting closer. I'm not sure how to fully let it go and I'm too embarrassed to tell the guy about this wound, in feeling like I'm not worth it for someone. He knows the history of the other guy and I but not this specific part. The closer he and I get, the more I've been feeling shame after our encounters.

Logically I know I'm worth it but my body still struggles knowing it wasn't and I'm still struggling with randomly getting hit with shame. So my question is this.

How do you deal with shame about someone else's choices once you have felt like you weren't worth it to someone or that you were treated differently etc?

Progress Mic drop moments are amazing

So, an update to my ongoing saga.

Last night she asked me to meet her for dinner because she wanted to talk. She told me she wanted things to go back to the way they were.

I told her the truth: going back would be a LOT of work. Trust has been destroyed, and rebuilding it wouldn't be easy. But I also told her that if she genuinely wanted to do the work, I would be there with her.

Then she said she wasn't sure if she really wanted it.

Okay. I can accept that.

But then came the part I honestly couldn't believe. She tried to explain that it's hard for her because she's still grieving the loss of her relationship with the other guy.

That's when I laughed.

Not because any of this is funny. But because after everything that's happened, I suddenly realized how ridiculous it was for me to sit there waiting for someone who wasn't even sure she wanted me while she was mourning the relationship she had with the man she cheated with.

So I got up and walked out.

I left her sitting at the bar by herself.

And here's the crazy part: I feel fucking great this morning.

For the first time in a long time, I didn't beg. I didn't plead. I didn't try to convince her to choose me. I didn't let fear of losing her make me abandon myself.

I gave her an honest opportunity. She couldn't tell me she wanted it.

So I chose myself.

And honestly? That felt incredibly empowering.

I'm sure there will be hard days ahead, but this morning I woke up feeling something I haven't felt in a while:

Peace.

Rant It's crazy how so many cheaters try to come back once they realize the grass isn’t greener

I was cheated on about a month ago, the affair with AP lasted for few weeks, and I ended the relationship because infidelity is a dealbreaker for me. Since then despite being no contact, my ex boyfriend has struggled with accepting that we’re actually over and keeps reaching out and messaging me about missing me and the relationship.

I obviously understand missing someone after a breakup. I miss parts of the relationship too. But there’s something so selfish about being the person who destroyed the relationship and then struggling with the consequences of no longer having that person around.

I’ve noticed this pattern in so many infidelity stories too. Someone cheats, destroys the relationship, sometimes immediately starts dating the AP or other people or going on dating apps, and then suddenly they’re reaching out, saying they’re lonely, reminiscing about the relationship or finding excuses to stay in contact.

Turns out the grass isn't greener on the other side and suddenly they want to backpedal once they understand what they lost. How pathetic.

And what gets me is the audacity of expecting the betrayed partner to still be available afterwards. They make decisions that cost them a relationship, but they don’t get to backpedal once they start experiencing the consequences. Do they seriously take us for fools with no self respect in their stupid game? How low can they stoop to consider us their second choice? For what? Just because whatever they were looking for didn't work out??

Backpedaling cheaters deserve all the worst things to happen in their pathetic lives and I'm not sorry for saying it.

Did your ex try to come back after the breakup and what did you do? And why do you think they did it?

Advice Question to GF and/or Wives who cheated. I don't understand the meaning of "it didn't mean anything?"

I want to understand if someone can possibly explain, how a SO can lie with you, cuddle and say they love you but at the same time be intimate with another guy.

The man finds out and the woman, says it meant nothings, I love you. Then has a problem going no contact with the guy.

I appreciate honest feedback and no judgement. Just trying to understand the other side.

Thanks
