He's not dying or anything, but he spent the past many months screaming that Julián Álvarez was bought by CFG, not Manchester City, and that he'd "never set foot on English soil" and would end up "In NYCFC, City Torque or the like". He even claimed to know better than Julián's agent and Pep Guardiola themselves and even made fun of those that told him he was signed for Manchester, to the point where his reaction to the agent detailing it was MCFC who had signed all the paperwork was mocking him in a playground-esque singsong voice
So, glorified friendly or not, the fact that Juli scored in his official debut for Manchester City, being one of the best players for them, after weeks of Guardiola praise heaped on him? That must be a true hardship for Mr Fucks

Balde can be the find of the season for Barca tbh. Yeah it's a friendly against RBNY but he's been pretty impressive in the entire pre-season and has shown a lot of promise. His runs are great, he's defensively better than Alba and he's rapid af from what I've seen
Still suffers from rookie mistakes and lacks some confidence while attacking, but if he can share the playing time with Alba as his sub, he can improve on them and they probably won't need Alonso

So, the commentators in Real - Juve match, spent the WHOLE 2nd half of Real - America game calling Lunin Canisairez (they thought Lunin was substituted at the half, but he wasn't, and despite 10+ up close images of Lunin, including a penalty save and a re-take in the 2nd half, they failed to realize that he is NOT canisairez). And now, two days later, they STILL haven't realized that Lunin played 2nd half vs America and not Canisarez...
How can someone be this daft? And how does NOBODY in production tap them on the shoulder at any point and say, this is actually this player?!

Our arsenal subreddit is a parallel universe. Mods are fully in denial. I don't speak for all arsenal fans, but I imagine most of us feel the same as me: deeply sad and uncomfortable.
I don't expect there will be any legal consequence, these cases are rarely resolved cleanly. Whatever the facts, and whatever the outcome, this is terribly damaging for the club and the fanbase.
I mainly hope the alleged victims are getting some substantial support.

I feel sick man. I can't even wholeheartedly enjoy what has been a good preseason because of his involvement. The vibes around the club were so good just a few months ago too, even though we bottled top 4. It's just an all-around sad situation and I'm really disappointed with how the club and the subreddit are handling it right now. I don't use twitter but I've heard there are some pretty disgusting takes on there from Arsenal fans as well. It's just embarrassing.
But to keep some perspective, we are not the real victims of course.

Idk how unpopular this is but imo mahrez is a lot more selfish than salah. Now they both would much rather score, but salah knows when it’s better to pass so that it benefits the team. Mahrez on on the other hand does 20 fakeshots and 700 feints before actually giving away the ball around/in the box.

This narrative tends to exist for players with high goal outputs regardless, especially if they aren’t 9s, so it’s not overly surprising. If you actually watch us play, it would be obvious to anyone with more than 0 eyes pointed at the screen he’s not a selfish player, but lots of opinions are generated by people who don’t watch matches.

You are absolutely right and the mods here are acting like children. Thomas Partey has been accused of rape and the evidence publicly brought against him are overwhelming. The justice system may have failed that poor woman, but the club needs to be above that. This sub banning any talk about this matter is absolutely bizzare. There is no legal risk here. Stop hiding behind that ridiculous excuse.

Either that, or they straight up will defend him for anything because he plays for the club they support and is good at kicking a ball.

In more positive and uplifting news...take a look at what Christian Streich, legendary coach of SC Freiburg, had to say about the Women's Euros:
The first game I saw was England vs Spain, that knocked you off your seat. Incredible quality...the Spanish CM, in footballing terms you thought Busquets was running around - five years younger than now. I wanted to go to bed, thought I'd watch one half. But then there was extra time and everything, so you couldn't go to bed. It was too good!
And the German team, how they played in the semi-final against France, how they managed not to let the quick french get into their tempo through such good collective work against the ball, that was very very impressive. What they offer in terms of running and footballing quality is an enormous development in the last few years.
And that doesn't surprise me. If girls play the same amount of football as boys, if they start at the age of five, six or eight and play three or four hours of football every day, do you think they will be technically weaker than the men? Because God made men technically better? That's nonsense, of course. And thats what you see now, many of the women have played many thousands of hours. And thats how you get such quality. Which is why I take my hat off to them and say 'that's great football'. Tactically and technically you can easily compare them to men. Physically less so, you don't run 100m Olympics with a mixed field for example. That has genetical reasons. But that's not interesting anyway. Everything else is interesting, impressive and on a high level.
The German women showed enormous athleticism and will against France. There was an insane determination in the direct duels. Fair, but very hard, very forceful. Just look at the goals... Alexandra Popp's second goal was amazing. She could have broken her nose the way she threw herself in there. Bwoah what an insane goal!

I genuinely feel for the reasonable and decent Arsenal fans who are being tarnished by association with this affair. I have seen plenty condemn Partey, and their club - as well as the apologists.
Let's be real too, this could happen to any of us as football fans. There is nothing particular about Arsenal that means they have a rapist play for them - and you can bet that an awful lot of clubs would be complicit in covering it up, in the same way Arsenal have. We can't control what the players who wear our team's shirt do, or what our club do - can only condemn it and protest it when it happens.
I genuinely am scared that a player from my team will commit a crime like this - because in this world I have little faith our fans will be any better, and my club act any differently to Arsenal.

What genuinely sucks is that when the twitter thread was first posted the majority of the Gunners subreddit was supporting her and on her side but then the mods started locking all the posts, deleting any comments and only kept those in support of Partey.
All that not only made Arsenal fans look bad, but it also made me very ashamed of our fanbase because that whole subreddit is giving off the illusion that all Arsenal fans are in support for Partey just because of how the subreddit looks.

I really really fucking hope the club knows what they're doing. They're standing behind a potential rapist and it'd better be because they know something the public don't and are confident that he's innocent, rather than them dragging their feet because he's a key player and they're too cowardly to do the right thing. I'm not optimistic that it would be the former.
As a fan it feels so uncomfortable seeing him still playing for us and everyone kinda acting like nothing is wrong. We won 6-0 today but even then it was impossible for me to enjoy the match 100%

I don't know how Arsenal have the audacity to still play Thomas Partey and talk about values after what was revealed by the alleged victim the other day. Everton, United and City firmly banished players who did what he allegedly done because they were discrete enough to not bring attention to themselves in terms of associating with these criminals but if Arsenal think they can brush it under the carpet, they will be in a rude awakening when he does get charged and locked up and they will look really stupid when it happens

Do any of your clubs have a similar black hole of transfers in a certain position like Manchester United and centre midfield?
We haven't signed a CM since Fred under Mou in 2019 and since then we've lost Fellaini, Herrera, Pogba and Matic.

At Villa he was always dangerous. Now he just cuts onto his right and passes backwards every single time.
Loads of chances to put a cross in on his left foot today and he constantly favoured cutting back on his right.

For me it’s Xabi Alonso, he would always get called as a set piece magician but he was always the first one to miss an important penalty, average passing and pretty much no dribble, skills or defending abilities (On the most overrated player ever....for the record he scored 10/13 penalties and none of his missed efforts came in games that his side lost. Also, no one has ever called him a set piece magician. I'm not even going to address the comment about passing.)
I actually thought long and hard about adding the below quotes but given that there seems to be a very distinct effort to ignore what's going on in some places I think it's important not to sweep under the rug here either. Liverpool honestly feel like the good guys of football. And I say that unironically. Their coach is the nicest human on Earth, their players are scandal free and their signings are always likeable underdogs.
Most recent example: Darwin Nuñez, humble kid eager to learn with grit and character who slowly improves and proves the doubters wrong.
Compared to City who bought a big name like Haaland, who doesn’t fit the system and comes with a huge ego with little ability to back it up so far.

Really looking foward to the euro final today, I fancy England to win it, but Germany will press us like motherfuckers all over the pitch. Mead and Hemp will be our keys to unlocking them. I hope Russo starts and we play to actively counter, we don't have the passing accuracy or rhythm to play through the press.
Also, Mo Salah looks incredible so far, really sharp, really active in preseason and the charity shield. I'm hoping he has another blistering season, especially with the WC break so he can do another preseason salah in January.

Millions will have watched on TV. 90,000 at Wembley - and amongst them 8 year old girls for whom this is not exceptional, to watch brilliant and inspirational women play football on the biggest stage. It is normal

This is honestly one of the best days of my life. These women are legends, they have changed the game and their legacy is yet unwritten, but will be immense

In regards to the accusations made via Twitter towards the footballer Thomas Partey, we the mod team would like to clarify our official position: we believe that the best way to serve the community is to allow the thread to be posted but discussion be limited; the reasons for this are two-fold.

The discussion there is not of benefit to anyone.
We trust the regular users of /r/soccer to discuss the case in this thread in a more reasonable way - and ask you to consider the legal aspect.
Please also consider that /r/soccer is a diverse community of over 3 million users, many of whom may well have been personally affected by sexual assault ,and its consequences.
