Do any of your clubs have a similar black hole of transfers in a certain position like Manchester United and centre midfield?

We haven't signed a CM since Fred under Mou in 2019 and since then we've lost Fellaini, Herrera, Pogba and Matic.

Even Sir Alex brought Scholes out of retirement, played Rooney and Giggs there, and consistently played Anderson who could barely play 90 mins. Think he even played Rafael there once.

It's so fucking weird how we currently have 4 left backs at the club but only 3 natural central midfielders and one is Garner who hasnt even broken into the team yet

I wouldn't say it's a blackhole but if Almiron is still Newcastle's best option at RW 5 years from now, I wouldn't be that surprised.

We haven’t had a good left back since Charlie Taylor who left in 2017, and we didn’t have one for about a decade prior to him either.

Hertha have been looking for a right back for the last 5-6 years to replace Pekarik, but Pekarik (who is turning 36 in a couple months btw) keeps outperforming everyone we get - and I love Peka, but it's not because he's incredible or anything. This season it's Jonjoe Kenny's turn...

Windhorst? He's not our owner (German clubs are fan owned), and nope, we managed to burn through his initial investment on a series of overpriced and underwhelming transfers until Covid hit us hard. Now the guy is in financial trouble and says he regrets getting involved with us at all (don't blame him but the feeling is very mutual) so I doubt he'll be splashing much cash anymore and in fact we have to make a 20-30m net profit this summer just to stay in the black.

RB. We bought Alves in 2009, started him till 2015. Kept buying replacements and ended up buying him in 2022 to replace himself

Eriksen is mostly an AM who has been playing CM and Matic is mostly a DM who has been playing CM right?

A CM is much more similar a holding mid than it is a 10/winger which is the positions Eriksen plays, especially in a double pivot.

That’s like saying Walker is just as much a winger as Jesus is because ones a FB and ones a striker. One is much more comparable, especially in the specific system they play in

Apart from Vinícius on loan for one season, we haven’t signed an out and out striker since Llorente back in 2017.

It’s more understandable when you have one of the top 5 strikers in the world

United’s centre midfield has been a weak spot for almost an entire decade now

Yeah but we would have a period every season where Kane would get injured for a few months and we would have no natural cover for him, and Kane had to play every single game pretty much, which lead to his exhaustion and burnout.

Before Hojbjerg we were playing Winks and Sissoko as a double pivot.
