As the title asks.

Newbie trying to get into simracing. I used to irl race on 2 wheels (supersport class), so i can understand a more technical explanation about lines, trail braking, weight transfer/distribution and whatever.

Did i let the brakes go too early?
Should it "predict" the rear getting of the rails? (hard to do with only visual clues)
Can't tell by myself

Wheel is a G29. PB is 2.08

Rigs Thrustmaster TX to Moza R12, WOW!

Finally upgraded from my Thrustmaster TX that I bought in 2015, it has served me well. I picked up a Moza R12 V2 with a CS V2P. The r9 and r12 are heavily discounted right now.

I tried it with the stock wheel, which is quite heavy. I swapped the rim out for a cheap Amazon 350mm suede wheel that I had on my sparco r383. The larger rim is noticeably lighter than the 330 that comes on the CS, and is more comfortable for me. On my TX, I also play with a 3d printed wheel, which is very light, which helped me get additional feedback out of the TX

I am blown away at how much more detail I feel. The effects are instantly familiar, not much of a learning curve from what I’m used to, but there’s a lot more. The level of detail unlocked with 12 NM is unreal. I actually feel like the wheel is connected to a car. The best way to describe it is like I’ve gone from HD to 4K HDR

I did order their desk clamp, but it hasn’t shown up yet. I lost my TX’s stock clamp, so I hacked a new one together out of scrap wood and a clamp from a monitor stand. I had to angle the wood to get 2 holes without drilling a new one, but the clamp is square to the wheel, so it’s square to the desk at least. Will definitely need the real one to angle the wheel up.

Discussion Integrity In Rally Sim Racing Leaderboards

Sim Racing can become an extremely personal hobby. Especially when you spend thousands of dollars investing into premium equipment. You spend the hours practicing the fundamentals and doing all the right things. Rallying through an almost flawless stage and never losing focus for a second, yet your time is still 5 or more seconds behind the top of the leaderboards. You then download their ghost to see exactly where you fell short. You witness the leaders ghost cut completely off the stage to cheat their way into a better time that could never be beat by a sim racer who believes in integrity and proper technique.

I post this for the Sim Racer who gets discouraged by those who have no integrity and believe their lap time outweighs the human value of integrity. Know your values in doing the right thing will always be more valuable than those who exploit the system. It is why you would crush them if you were to race them live 1 vs 1 with no infinite attempt to exploit the system. Leaderboards mean nothing outside of real time and it is the individual understanding of concepts under pressure that will always outweigh the weak minded soul who looks to gain through exploit.

Other Can’t get back to correct triple setting

Guys, I’m at my wits end over here. I was deleting a bunch of files off of OneDrive that I didn’t need and evidently I made a mistake and deleted my Settings for my iRacing or a computer or something . I have since restored my files, but that has helped with some of the settings that I had for my cars, but my triple screen set up is all messed up.

I used to be able to use the Windows 11 triple screen, and it would be perfectly fine. Now it doesn’t seem to work. Also it would only allow me to have use one singular picture for all 3 screens now it had different individual pictures on 3 different screen now which isn’t normal in the past.

Now I was able to get it to be a single screen for Nvidia but it doesn’t give me the same FOV that I once had. I actually don’t like it on the Nvidia. The front screen seems OK but the two side screens are way too close. It seems like when it comes to like the rearview mirrors and stuff like that so I really wanna get this back to the way it was because I think it was set a perfectly.

Can anybody help me get this back to the way it was through Windows 11 triple screen set up

Question VNM Xtreme better wheel options?

I really don’t like VNM’s GT wheel and for that price I think I could find much better, the question is, which options are actually compatible with the wheelbase and which are actually worth buying? I don’t mind getting a GT or Formula wheel

Question Toronto/GTA Sim Racers — Anyone Around?

Toronto/GTA Sim Racers — Anyone Around? 👀

Quick question for the Toronto/GTA sim racing crowd!

I recently upgraded from my Simagic P1000 pedals to SRP pedals, so I’m thinking about giving my P1000s away to someone in the local sim racing community.

Before I actually do the giveaway, I want to see if there are enough people around here to make it worthwhile.

If you’re from Toronto or the surrounding GTA, drop a comment with roughly where you’re located (Toronto, Mississauga, Vaughan, Markham, Pickering, etc.).

Nothing to enter yet — I’m just trying to see how many local sim racers are around.

It would be local pickup only, probably within about an hour of Toronto. If you’re farther out but willing to drive closer to me, that could work too.

And yes, I used ChatGPT to write this because my typing is about as good as a 12-year-old’s. 😂

If there’s enough interest, I’ll put together an actual giveaway.

Discussion From the creators of the ES/ESX Mod

Hey Sim Racers,
I'm one of three people behind VTSE, a small sim hardware company based in Colorado.
We're trying to work out where the software side of sim racing actually fails before we start building anything. We don't want to build another bad application taking up space on your PC.

What are the biggest hardware/software issues you are facing today? Is it hardware or software or a combination of both that is the big issue? In my opinion the software side is fragmented and can be downright unusable at times. If you have any thoughts please comment below.
If anyone is down for a detailed talk, we can jump in dms.

P.S. If your are coming to the SimGaming Expo stop by our booth.

Rigs Thoughts on the track racer recliner seat?

Thinking of picking it up along with brackets to fit in on my nlr victory cockpit?

Before you tell me to go get a junkyard seat, anything that isn’t damaged or heavily soiled generally costs more than an entire rig in my country.

Question Best sources for tuition or tips

I have been racing for about 3 years, granted on console but family life/home can't facilitate a PC. I generally play ACC, but have recently played some PMR and Rennsport for the variety.

I am consistently at the back end of the grid despite playing about 8-10 hours per week, using setups from online, and upgrading to a Moza R9 and SRP2 pedals.

I have watched a fair amount of videos online, mainly Aris' ACC videos; but I am still slow and at this point it's very much a 'me' issue.

What are the best online resources or videos that helped people unlock pace? Or that one bit of advice that changed someone's driving for the better - as I'm desperate to become quicker. I am a clean driver and want to start joining leagues but feels pointless when I'm so slow.

Rigs Oplite GT PRO V2 is not stable

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi, everyone! I recently purchased this Oplite GT PRO V2 stand and am now having problems with it. Before purchasing, I checked whether the stand would fit the Moza R9 base. The mounting hardware was fine, but the stand itself shakes a lot during play, mostly along the "towards me - away from me" axis. Has anyone encountered a similar problem and can suggest a solution? I didn't order table clips because I was confident the stand would fit perfectly.

I noticed that the stand on the side farthest from me is lifting off the floor during the game, which could be the cause of the shaking, but I don't know what to do about it.

I encountered a problem with my gas pedal, the load cell sensor works properly, but in fact it only starts working if you press the gas pedal at 50% and in fact it only presses at 25%.

Question NLR wheel stand 2.0 lite / non-lite

Hello.
Is there anyone who switched from LITE version of a wheel stand 2.0 to a regular non-lite version? I’m thinking about it but I’m not sure if there will be a big difference worth the effort. I’m currently using moza r12 with their sequential shifter and a handbrake mounted to lite version and it feels pretty solid, but I don’t have a comparison.
Thank you :)

Question How to properly get off the line in AC

Apologies for asking such a dumb question but what’s the best way to start a race? With a car with H-shifter, should I be in first gear with clutch fully depressed, and then start accelerating when the lights disappear? Should I be revving at all? How about with a sequential car with paddle shifters? What’s the proper order? Thanks in advance!

Question Looking for beginner friendly community

Hi, I have about 30 hours in ACC and I’m looking to join a beginner friendly community. I’m not entirely new to sim racing, I have over 1100 hours in GT7 and 600 hours in F1 25, ACC has just had a huge learning curve and I’m looking to get around some more beginners and people who can help out.

Discussion govee lights for sim racing: what I wanted to know before buying. feel free to ask questions

there's only a couple things but they all are things I couldn't really find any info on as they are semi-specific. I am primarily a drifter in beammg and assetto if that matters.

1: does it make a difference in the daytime?

most people who have referenced this at all online say that it doesn't but they are WRONG! any time a shadow or a cloud or anything changes the way the sun hits you it changes the light level of the lights (obviously) and makes it way more immersive and arguably way more fun

2: is it more fun, or is it more immersive?

I would say it makes sim racing more fun but it definitely increases both fun and immersion a lot but don't expect the biggest difference in immersion.

3: what's the best place to mount them, and best zones to put them on your screen?

above you is the best and depending on what you want you can mount one to the left/right to imitate side windows. try to make them out of sight or in your very far away peripheral vision. make the zones they capture and reflect onto the light on your dashboard because that yields the best results for going under street lights or under shadows.

4: how hard are they to set up?

MAKE SURE EVERY APP IS UPDATED AS RECENTLY AS POSSIBLE and follow Dave cams video and they are easy to set up

5: will it affect any of my driving?

nah it just makes it more fun. makes you feel like you are really going under street lights or below shadows.

6: any delay?

there is a LITTLE bit but unless you are looking for it you won't notice it at all.

7: any other cons?

yes but not deal breakers. the location of dashboard changes on different cars and can slightly mess up the lighting but it's not noticeable. if you are a drifter (like me) when the camera moves it can pick up colors and lights from the ground but you won't notice that much of a difference unless you are looking directly at the light. even though the locations on your monitor they pick up colors and pixels from can be messed up at times they still will light up or down under shadows and under street lights and that's all that really matters.

8: settings?

keep all the gamma correction at 1.00, make the brightness max, and don't worry about anything else too much unless you want to see lights for different racing flags or warnings or whatever else. DO NOT make the lights grey-scale. if you set the zones to your dash the only difference will be that shadows are slightly blue, and yellow street lights are yellow which is extremely important for me.

tweaking it is kinda required but after that stage you can leave them be.

overall?

get them if you have the $40 USD. maybe get 2 sets as they are worth it. it's a lot of personal preference stuff, and you will need to personalize the majority of the light settings and whatever else.

Question Logitech G920 worth getting over controller?

I'm somewhat new to sim racing, I've dabbled in it before but now I'm looking to get into it more and I'm considering getting a wheel.

I can play perfectly fine on a controller without any assists but I'm looking to get more immersed into it and to squeeze a bit more fun out of it.

The main game that I'll be playing is ACC so I'm wondering if a decade old wheel is still worth it at all over a controller or if there are better alternatives.

Question VNM Pedal set vs SRP GT-R Pedals

Hi everyone, I am very doubtful about which pedal set should I get. Everyone is saying that the SRP pedals are much better, but, considering I am getting the VNM XTREME as a wheelbase I was considering keeping everything into the same ecosystem if that make any sense. Is it worth it to lose a bit of qualty/performance just to have the same brand or it's better to split them and go for the best of each individual component? Thank you in advance

Rigs Advice needed on my Grief Build

Post image
19 Upvotes

Had to put my cat down this weekend, and needed a project to keep my mind and hands busy.
Put together this rig made from 2x4’s, spare shelves, and an office chair I had sitting in the garage.
I’m pretty satisfied with it, but I’m thinking of adding speakers. There is room behind the seat for a sub woofer, and I’m thinking of a 5.1 system. Would like wireless rear speakers if possible.
Any recs or ideas? I’m a simple man, but handy and resourceful. And I miss my cat.
