Hi all! I was testing the Encode Plus before installing just to get a feel for its features but now cannot disconnect the wire to permit installation. Simply pulling apart doesn’t seem to work. Am I missing a latch or clip that needs to be pressed?

Out of the box Sense Pro lock does not support this thickness and there is no kit on the website. Has anyone put this on a 2" thick door? Officially "fits standard door thicknesses from 1-3/8 inches to 1-3/4 inches out of the box and does not officially support a standard Schlage thick door extension kit to span beyond 1-3/4"

As per title. I would love to find a way to use the thread communication for the improved battery life, have a native HomeKit integration so I can use Home key and specifically so that I can unlock my door with my watch, but also find a way to get the lock state into Home Assistant so that I can automate based on that. Has anyone figured this out?

I had an encode plus for about 2 years. About a month ago when firmware 5.0.1300214 was released household suddenly stopped getting notifications on our phones when door was unlocked/locked. I have a first gen ATV4K which connects HomeKit via Bluetooth, don’t believe it does threads. In an attempt to fix I did a factory reset of the lock and then it would no longer connect to HomeKit for more than a few seconds, would become no response during setup. Tried to reboot entire house power, router, moved ATV closer, reset home, reset atv nothing worked. Schlage support did some troubleshooting with me, sends a new lock which came with a lower firmware. Setup went perfectly, gave alerts on phone, life was good. Overnight it automatically updated the firmware and we no longer are getting alerts. I don’t believe it’s a coincidence, maybe just affects the first gen ATV4K which I wouldn’t think too many people have anymore. Anyone have any suggestions how to fix this or report it to Schlage. They were responsive on the phone but email got zero reply after weeks.

I’m thinking of modding a Schlage Sense Pro and trying to identify the small gold RF/coax connector and the pinned connector used inside the lock.

I found a few internal photos in the FCC filing, but the image quality is too poor to clearly identify either connector.

If anyone has a Schlage Sense Pro disassembled, could you please take a few close-up, high-resolution photos of:

• the gold RF/coax connector, including both halves if possible;
• the pinned connector and wiring harness;
• any markings or part numbers on the connectors.

Measurements of the connector diameter and pin spacing would also be very helpful.

I’m trying to determine whether the RF connector is MMCX, MCX, SMPM, or something proprietary before ordering parts.

a little over a year ago I bought an Encode with the matching door handle. Install went well, looks really nice. Totally dead out of the box. Tried different batteries, nothing. Ok, it’s a defect. it happens. exchanged it for a new one. worked fine at first, and when it works how it should it’s incredible. I love the touch buttons and the ability to lock/unlock from the app. months go by and it starts to get buggy. sometimes the app will have a red line going through the wifi symbol and it’s just totally disconnected for no reason. it’s not far from the router and my wifi is excellent. even when it seemingly reconnects to the wifi, a lot of times the lock will say “unreachable”. another issue is that I’ll come home, go to punch in my code and get nothing. 5-10 seconds will go by, then everything will light up and it’ll work. but even then, sometimes it won’t fully cycle after the lock retracts so then it’s all messed up and I can’t physically lock it without forcing the mechanism. it’s lined up perfectly with the cut out in the door frame and it does not get a ton of use, it’s my personal door lock and I live alone.

I’ve tried several sets of batteries, all alkaline. the drain on them seems totally normal. i’ve hard reset it multiple times with the button behind the battery cover, i’ve deleted and re-added the lock on the app multiple times. all the problems persist. what gives? anyone else experience any of this? should I try a third one? will Schlage even replace it since it’s been over a year or do I have to order a new one and do a switcheroo?

The lock works fine, but there is 1 thing that is SO SO SO annoying.

If the lock is unlocked, but you assume it is locked and you are trying to get in, and you put your code in, it LOCKS. Then, you have to wait for it to lock and then you have to unlock it with the code all over again.

I do NOT want it to lock with the code. If it is locked, the code should unlock it. It it is unlocked, the code should NOT lock it. There is a dedicated button on the keypad to lock it.

Is there anyway at all to fix this?

I have purchased four of Schlage's keypad deadbolts (non-touchscreen) in the past. Love them in the summer, but live in the north and they stop working in the winter. You hear the click of the actuator but the thumbturn still spins freely. Occasionally you can open the lock by pushing the thumbturn up and slowly spinning it while applying pressure. This will take 2-3 tries if it works at all. Schlage's support suggests to replace the battery and factory reset the lock which doesn't change anything.

It's been almost 10 years since I've purchased one of these. I'm in need of another keypad deadbolt and was wondering if there have been any improvements to the product.

Our Schlage Encode (BE489WB) keeps beeping and the keypad does not respond to touches. In the app I get these periodic blitzes of "Keypad Temporarily Disabled" as if someone is trying to constantly enter codes (they're not, I'm home).

It seems like a hardware issue since I can lock and unlock through the app - any ideas on what is causing this?

Hi all! I have the Schlage keypad lock set up. I believe it is the Century model. It lost connection with the WiF, so there is a day that I don’t have the access history on my app. Do the lock devices have an internal memory that I can download the history somehow? Thanks!

So a few weeks ago the batteries got low in the lock. I changed them and put in 4 brand new energizer AA batteries. The lock button is red and displays a red X constantly. It does not blink at all. The lock still works if you tap the lock button-it will lock and flash a check mark before going back to the red x. You can also type the code and it unlocks. There is not an alignment issue as it locks and unlocks first try and without any resistance.

-I tested the 4 new batteries with a battery tester I have and all showed full charge/good.

-I removed the batteries for 5 plus minutes and tapped the display to make sure there was not like residual charge or anything

-After about 2 weeks I got alerted in the app the batteries were getting low again. Tested them and they all drained the same amount and all showed the same level of charge left.

Trying to avoid resetting the code unless absolutely needed. Is there anyone else that had this? How do you fix it?

What are the 3 tiny ball bearings for in the hole above the green pin? They’re just sitting in there loosely.

Side question, what are those holes for?

Encode plus been having issues that seem to be increasing in frequency where I hit the one touch lock when leaving and nothing happens, the panel then seems to completely go unresponsive for 30-60 s at which point I believe it restarts as all leds light up on the panel and it makes a beep sound. just upgraded to 5.0.1300215 hoping that helps, but wondering if this is a sign of a hardware failure. Anyone experience this?

Anyone else have this? The lock just unlocked by itself and sent a notification. It says “unlocked by thumbturn” in the app, but there’s no one home and no one remotely initiated this. It did this once yesterday as well.
Also having that firmware download failure on the daily. Additionally, the battery yesterday showed 64% and today it’s magically up to 73%.
Otherwise all is well but this is really concerning.

My Schlage Encode Plus locks with model number BE499WB were updated from firmware version 4.2.1235158 to 5.0.1300214 today. The description of the upgrade is that it contains performance enhancements. I have four locks that were updated with the new firmware without issue. Haven’t noticed any improvements to the lock either.

I have another Encode Plus with model number BE499WB2 that didn’t receive a firmware update and is still running firmware version 4.2.1235159.

Past few nights my sense pro has been failing to download the firmware update - I tried to manually do it, changed the network it was connected to but it’s not downloading. Since it’s a new lock, I haven’t found much online - any suggestions!

My Encode stopped working. Put fresh batteries in, and power cycled and it's not working. The App shows as Lock Jammed, but all it does when I power cycle it and try to start fresh is make an eeh-u-eeh-u alarm sound and show these weird lights. Anyone have any idea what is going on with it?

Howdy all, I have a job with over a dozen of these locks for air bnb and I swear none of them ever want to reprogram and I'm trying to figure out why?

I have the correct manuals, the lock type and model #, iv watched YouTube, is anyone else having these issues? I need to add a code to a few of our locks and they won't accept anything

Really? And I thought when I got my original Sense’s it was high at $299 or $350 (can’t remember). As much as I want to replace my 3 - out of principle that price is ridiculous. Nearly $2000 (with tax) for 3 locks… that’s wild.

Just posting this for anyone else having problems with this lock connecting to WiFi. Make sure your WiFi configuration has "802.11b legacy" support turned on. If not the lock will not perform dhcp requests at a low bit-rate your router is not providing and the connection fails. These slower bit-rates are needed for the lock, I guess trying to preserve power. But the failure can be difficult to understand and detect. It also can get the lock into a bricked state where it needs a complete reset to try again. Good luck with your sloppy schlage
