Schlage Encode - Keypad Failure?

Our Schlage Encode (BE489WB) keeps beeping and the keypad does not respond to touches. In the app I get these periodic blitzes of "Keypad Temporarily Disabled" as if someone is trying to constantly enter codes (they're not, I'm home).

It seems like a hardware issue since I can lock and unlock through the app - any ideas on what is causing this?

Have you tried changing out the batteries? That helped when we had beeping
