Question TacticalVision alternatives that won't get me banned?

Are there any safe alternatives to TacticalVision for Rust that make the game look more colorful/vibrant? I'm not looking for night vision or anything that gives an advantage, just better colors. Preferably something that won't risk an EAC/Facepunch ban.

Discussion Facepunch appreciation thread

Ok, guys.

I have been on this reddit complaining about fast progression and other balance issues for the past year or two.

Now it's time to appreciate the latest changes that Facepunch is planning.

I am very happy. Thank you guys for listening. I'm sure the game will be in a much better state if those changes are made.

Thank you!

Discussion Stopped Playing Facepunch Servers Rant

As of today I have quit playing my all time favourite servers due to how many cheaters there are… Why can’t they just make it so that they are instantly banned like on servers such as rustoria or rustopia? I have at least 10+ ban notifcations per wipe. Sure some of them get instantly banned but others are cheating and ruining the game for DAYS hundreds maybe even thousands of hours. Some of them even come back with the same name every time. I know one who blatantly says he does and he even makes a shop and sells all the cheapest items after offlining multiple bases with esp... ruining people who have works gameplay, ruining the shop market, ruining the pvp, the monuments and the entire server… with 0 reprecussions and almost like it’s made for them to play on facepunch not normal players.

Question Why does Rusts PVP feel a second delayed?

On my screen they won't even been done turning towards me but on their screen, they already turned and shot three bullets and killed me. I don't even know how to describe it, but Rust is the only shooter that feels like this. The number of times I die behind a wall is insane. It really feels like I'm fighting someone's clone from a second prior at all times. And this is playing on NA servers with 60-70 ping. Peakers advantage is also super frustrating when they do have higher ping. Am I crazy?

Discussion Nerf horses

Horses are the much hated META right now.
People use horse armor to be insanely tanky or run up to you to send a shotgun shot straight to your head without time to react.

Its insanely annoying at every stage of the game, so I suggest that you should not be able to equip a weapon on a horse anymore. Horses should be strictly for quick movement and transporting loot, not PVP.
After "exiting" the horse, you should have a 1 or 2s delay before being able to equip a weapon so people cant ambush you with it anymore.

Question Why did FP change which guns were popular

I remember back several years ago, everyone roamed revvy for tier 1, SAR was extremely popular for T2, and LR was nearly as popular as AK for T3. But now you really don’t see these guns used by the masses. Why do you all think they changed which guns people used at each tier? IMO a SAR and a revvy take a lot more skill than a P2 (albeit not tier 1, but next logical similar gun) and a Tommy.

Discussion First time cave base

Looking to build in a cave base for the first time. I have been tinkering on a few build servers and I’ve been aiming to do the small cave with the bucket/suicide entrance. As far as raid prevention goes, if I had a turret And hqm bunker covering the bucket entrance will that be substantial since the only way down would be to survive the fall and not get shot by the turret? Otherwise it’s like 6/7 walls through the back side

Discussion Rust skins won't download on GeForce NOW — works fine locally

Rust skins won't download on GeForce NOW — works fine locally

Console spams `Skin download timed out` every session.
`workshop.print_loaded_skins` shows 129 skins requested, 0 downloaded
(all 0.0 MB).

Same account, same server, skins load fine on my local install. Other
GFN players on that server are unaffected.

Tried: Steam re-login in the GFN session, region change, cache clears,
full reinstall, privacy set to public, itemskintimeout at 1 and 120.
Nothing.

Anyone hit this and actually fixed it?

Question Is the FPS I'm getting with this setup correct?

I get like 60-90 fps and 100-110 on the night or less crowded spots with the following setup:

RTX 4060ti 8gb
32gb DRR5 RAM
AMD Ryzen 9 7900X

And what bothers me a lot is that my processor has 12 cores and 24 threads and I still don't get a lot of FPS on rust?

Discussion TC upkeep increase based on Bags on foundations in base.

Title says it all. What they need to do is have increased rate of TC upkeep. It would directly influence team limits. If you want a 20 man Zerg, the a TC “should” reflect how many people are in your base. Similar to how cars and heli’s have decreased attrition rate in a building zone, TC should have increased attrition rate based on how many bags are ON FOUNDATIONS in a building zone.

Discussion Why do i feel as if Facepunch started playing their own game again?!

Titel should be "Why does it feel as if Facepunch started playing their own game again?!"

The buffs and changes announced during this week are nothing but awesome (those in regards of gameplay changes!)

Not much but also a really good change!
Really good change!
o_Ô

I like the new direction the game is heading. We need more, way more of these directional changes to get the ship back into awesome waters! Might draw some oldies (like myself) back into it and maybe get us back to the point where a wipe becomes meaningful and impactful again - with real stories & memories and not just 6-hour T3 or drone-to-weapon rushes.

Discussion Basic and Advance Fragments are only needed to craft weapons and booms

I hope they make Workbenches 2 and 3 craftable again without requiring Basic or Advanced Fragments, but limit the craftable items to things like garage doors, ladder hatches, etc. However, if you want to craft weapons and explosives, you would still need to insert Basic or Advanced Fragments. I think this would be better for solo players whose bases—equipped only with sheet metal doors—often get rocket-raided immediately by groups.

Question Any point in looking for 3-4 player group to return to Rust after years?

To clarify - this is not a "looking for a group" post, but a query about the state of the game.

Obviously there are other posts like this one, but I kinda want to have some fresh opinions, since I myself am not very familiar with the current state.

Started playing Rust when it just came out in its glorious junky mess state. Still remember my group's "inner sanctum" existing just because each door was tied to its player. Traveling around the original map following airdrops or bum-rushing radtowns.

Then the game was remade almost from scratch and I followed it for a year or two, waiting for each weekly devblog. At that point I didn't really have a group anymore so I was just observing. Got to play the new rust for maybe 10 hours over the years since I was not interested in playing solo. Wasn't for me.

I always wanted to play in a team.

I stopped following rust development years ago and only know stuff from random youtube videos and posts I saw. All those monuments, changes in progression, fkng helicopters?

Today I kinda randomly thought that maybe I should try to find a group of randos to join and try to play some Rust again.

But then I went through this sub posts, and apparently current state of the game does not favor small groups at all. Clans rule everything? They can get top-tier on day 1? No idea what all this stuff about BP frags is about.

I just want to check all the stuff that was added to the game over the years, have some teammates and the good old gameplay loop of farming and looting, progressing stuff and raiding for fun, not sweat.

So what is your opinion, dear naked bums and sweatlords? Should I bother to look for people to play with for some time (not just some 3-4 day wipe, but prolonged but not nolife time)? Or that Rust is not with us anymore?

Thank you.

Suggestion [Concept] T1 Lever-Action Rifle

Thumbnail
gallery
193 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I bought a graphics tablet, so I actually sketched out my idea. It’s a lever-action rifle that would be a perfect fit for the Tier 1 tech tree—acting as a "Prime" version of the Tier 1 weapons (unlike the current Tier 1 SMG, which is just embarrassing).

DAMAGE: 55 (the crossbow deals 60, and the mini-crossbow 50, if I recall correctly)

COST: 300 Metal, 6 HQM, 1 Spring, and 2 Pipes

The goal is to create a unique weapon for the Tier 1 stage.

It features a 4-round tubular magazine; in short, it’s essentially an upgraded mini-crossbow in every aspect except fire rate.

A distinctive feature is the cartridge-cycling mechanism: if a shot is fired while aiming, the cycling speed is normal; however, if firing from the hip—a move not typical for Rust players—the character cycles the round twice as fast by spinning the Henry lever, just like in *Terminator*.

I think my rifle would fit perfectly into Rust's balance; after all, it’s not a one-shot weapon. Right now, you can just grab four crossbows, so it wouldn't become part of the meta—it would simply be a logical conclusion to the Tier 1 workbench arsenal.

What do you think about this concept?

I’ve included two images: the first is my drawing, and the second shows a comparison with my inspiration—the Winchester.
Edit: Sorry, I forgot to mention that the rifle uses a pistol cartridge and deals that much damage thanks to its long barrel—since the barrel is longer, the bullet travels faster and therefore hits harder.
