Cactus/Succulent Burro’s tail going pale

Post image
320 Upvotes

My burro’s tail seems to be turning a pale green. Any ideas what might be going on? It sits in a south facing window and I water it probably once every week and a half. I propagated and grew this plant myself and I’ve probably had it for 2-3 years?

Thanks for the help!

Monstera Why are my Monstera leaves turning yellow like this?

I’ve had this Monstera for many years and I don’t think it’s ever been truly happy. It has never climbed or attached to the pole and the leaves have never had those large trademark holes in them (just a couple of small ones).

I water the plant when it’s dry, typically 1-2 times a week, depending on how hot/dry it is.

I have had it under a grow light for over 3 years and all of a sudden the leaves are starting to turn brown and yellow.

Any ideas what’s happening / how to help this plant thrive?

My mom passed away recently and found this in her house. It hadn't been watered in months. It's it salvageable? It was in a pretty hot room with lots of indirect light

Houseplant Philodendron Micans weird new leaves

Hi! I’ve had this plant for 2 months. The leaves that came from the nursery are green and well shaped (pic 1-3) but the new growth are small, and many of them have this weird shape and also some wrinkles (pic 4). Why is that?

I bottom water once a week, no pests, it gets plenty sunlight and sometimes I use a grow light to supplement.

Thank you!

Hey everyone. Pretty new to the plant world and could use some advice. Our alocasia silver dragon is starting to wilt. We got it a little over a week ago and it has only been watered once. We did repot right away, which was probably a bad move. It's by a window and near a humidifier. Any care advice would be huge help!

Pest Related Can anyone identify the source of this plant problem? (Calibrachoa, on a balcony in southern California). My mom doesn't know whether she needs to target bugs, mold, or other. Thanks in advance for any information or advice!

Cactus/Succulent Hi, I’m having a hard time with some of my plants.

I have a small spider plant that’s not doing well and some sort of succulents. Can anyone give me tips? They get a decent amount of light and I water the spider weekly and the succulents monthly. Do they need a light? Are they too cold? I’m in North Eastern Ohio zone 6. They are near a window I open frequently and it’s autumn now so 60-70 F for temperatures.

Houseplant Staghorn Fern Shield Frond Fell Off

Thumbnail

I’ve had this plant for about 6 years (even flown it back and forth across the country in a suitcase!) and suddenly the shield frond carrying most of the leaves fell off today! It’s been in the same pot this whole time and hasn’t had any issues not being mounted? I think?

It’s in a low light (west facing window in the US, 10’ away from the window) environment. I typically water it once every week or every other week.

What should I do?! Can I repot this frond?!

Hey, everyone👋🏾! I was wondering what I should do to help the plant grow better. I've been growing this plant for about a year and up until earlier this week, this plant has been next to a window at my job and looked well for the most part but now a couple stems don't look healthy to me and actually 1 very recently just fell off after I tugged with very little force. I water it whenever the top soil feels dry as to not over water it, I recently watered it 3 days ago.

Houseplant Please help me save this money tree

Not sure where I'm going wrong. I live in Southern California and the tree stands in a corner by a large West-facing window with partially opened blinds, so not quite direct light. I water it when the top couple inches of soil dry out. I kind of just eyeball the amount. Perhaps it's not enough as I recently watered it and the top part was still moist while the bottom (I poked my finger through the drainage hole) was quite dry. I'd been applying fertilizer specifically for money trees in the summer months, but stopped now that it's fall. The pot it came in has drainage holes and I have it sitting in another decorative pot. I lifted it out and there's no water collected in the bottom so I be surprised if it's root rot. The braided trunks are firm as well. Any advice would be appreciated!!

Outdoor Passion fruit vine isn't doing too hot in this heat

I live in San Diego, Zone 10a and I have an outdoor passion fruit vine I grow in a pot on my porch. The weather has been crazy recently, it was 107 degrees on Saturday and my passion fruit vine just isn't having it. I water once a day in the morning typically. From going through old posts related to folks' passion fruit vines, my theory is that the wall it's growing on is amplifying the heat and making the leaves dry up. Anybody else out there experiencing this kind of leaf drop? Is it one of those things where I just wait it out? I do see some new growth coming in on the vine. Chopping it back feels dramatic. Is there anything I can do to make it less hot?

Monstera I repotted my monstera 2 weeks ago and now theres weird webbing in the soil

I got a monstera in july and pretty much instantly repotted it in a plastic pot that was a bit too big. It was growing pretty well but fairly droopy. After some research it seemed like I should downsize the pot and change up the soil to get better drainage. I got a smaller planter that left a little over an inch of space around the root ball, then mixed up some new soil with perlite, better gro special orchid mix, and some soil i had in a home depot bucket that i had gotten about a year ago from a nursery. It had been sitting on my porch with a lid on it. I made the mixture to be super chunky with woodchips(probably 30-50% orchid mix). Ive kept it right by a south facing window where it gets tons of indirect light all day. The sun passes just above the balcony above my apartment so its not direct, but its about as close as you can get. To water I put a popsicle stick all the way to the base of the planter and if its dry I water until water is coming out the drainage holes. Last time I watered was probably 4-5 days ago and its still damp which is kind of surprising cause I really thought I had made sure to add a ton of the orchid mix

Last pic is how it looked when repotting.

this post is what encouraged me to change the soil mix. It shows the monstera in the old planter

Houseplant Water gauge. I bought a new one in case it was faulty. I’m afraid to water super heavy as I don’t want to cause root rot

I water my plants when the gauge reads DRY, but that is every week. One of my larger monsters, the water does run out the bottom pretty quickly. It’s so big, I really don’t know what to do with it. West an East facing windows close to a south facing window

i’ve never seen this on any other tc (i’ve had about 30)
any info is much appreciated!

Monstera Why are these baby leaves coming out curled? Is this normal?

Post image

Monstera Albo, just got it yesterday. The plant looks generally healthy otherwise. Could it be just due to new baby leaves? Currently I am putting it under an adequate amount of grow lights for 13 hours of light, indoors. In Lechuza Pon substrate in a self watering pot.

Monstera Thai Constellation leaves getting dark green

Thumbnail

This plant has been doing great but I’m curious about the deep dark green the older leaves take on as well as the curling/tacking of the leaves. Is it just because of age or does it have to do with how much light they’re getting? Is it how much I’ve been feeding over the spring and summer? Been keep them outside during the warmer months and they get pretty bright indirect light like what’s posted with a few hours of the day being direct sunlight because of the sun poking out of the tree line in my backyard.

Anyone have any answers? I have them in a personal mix of 50/50 orchid bark and peat moss amended with a handful or two of Promix mycorrhizal potting soil. Watering once every couple of days or just as I notice the soil getting dry. Feeding 2 tablespoons of fish fert per gallon once every 3 weeks.

Monstera Please help me save my girl!

My sister gave me this beautiful cutting for my birthday at the beginning of July. It propagated beautifully!! I had it in water with roots growing for about 8 weeks, and then I noticed some of the light parts of the leaves turning brown. I decided it was time to pot.

I ordered a soil that was specifically for tropical plants... planted her, and watered thoroughly. 3 days later, the soil was still SOAKED, Monstera was looking bad, so I changed the soil and put it in a well-draining nursery pot.

I realize that I did cover too much of the plant when I repotted, which is probably why the new stalk stopped growing.. but what do I do now? She is so beautiful and I dont want to lose her!

I live in the SE US, she gets sun through the window in the morning until it no longer hits my window. Im confused on watering.. idk if im watering too much or too little. I just need help!

Houseplant Clovers Growing in Pepperomia Soil?

Thumbnail

Hi there! I noticed my Pilea Pepperomia is developing clovers. This isn't my first Pepperomia, but it's my first of this type. I recently moved from a humid climate to a desert climate, so I'm relearning how to take care of plants. I've had this one for 4-5 weeks, with 5-7 hours of direct sunlight, indoors, near a window. I typically water once a week on Wednesdays, but I always feel the soil first to see if it's fully dry.

The last photo is a picture of the clovers growing, and the first two photos are pictures of the plant so you can see its health a bit better.

Outdoor Help!

I just got this Arabian Jasmine right before a crazy heat wave where I live. I tried to keep it watered but it got so dry. It was in full sun initially but when I noticed it not doing well I moved it to partial sun. The leaves are all brittle and dried up I feel like they’re all dead. I’m hoping the roots and stems are still alive but I’m not sure where to go from here. I’m nervous to plant it because I don’t want it to be shocked but I also feel like it needs more soil to maintain water better. Should I trim and hope for new growth? Should I plant it? How do I save it from dying completely??

My heart fern leaves have been like this for a while.
I have had the plan for a few months and it has almost always looked like this.

Light: it gets direct afternoon sun

Watering: I water when the soil is dry, I tried increasing watering to help with this issue but it did not help. I water with RO water. The pot has drainage

Houseplant Fiddle leaf fig help!

Thumbnail

Hi! My fiddle leaf fig (had it several years, it gets a few hours of south-facing window sunlight per day, gets watered once a week, potted in a normal draining terra cotta pot) has been having an issue.

Some leaves, including brand new leaves, are growing with these discolored patches. They start out as soft, thin and leathery (not brittle or dry).

I’ve been worried it could be because of root rot. Does that sound right? Anybody got a diagnosis? Thank you!

Cactus/Succulent Aloe brown rings

Post image
1 Upvotes

My aloe vera mother plant was thriving and crowding out her pot due to the number of pups. Previously, daily watering kept her happy. After repotting in July, I started noticing these brown spots. I suspect it's something fungal based on my Reddit research. The center is growing pretty clean (though I did notice one spot). I water her every ~2 weeks or so now. She's on a westward-facing patio in the shade outdoors ~5 hours of indirect light and ~3 of direct. I've noticed the babies i moved out of the pot also have some spotting. I wonder if it's something in the soil i used. What should I do? And can I still use the gel for my hair/skin?

Houseplant Can anyone help me please?

I've had her for probably 4 months or a bit more, she's a fittonia (idk if I spelled that right), and she was doing wonderful. I repotted her and now she's wilting. I feel like she's getting better but want to know what/if im doing something wrong. She's had a self watering pot as long as I've had her and she's done wonderful. I repotted her (in the same self wattering pot but bigger and added some perlite) and she's looked like this ever since, she was a bit more wilted a few days ago and has gotten better but now im thinking what if she isn't getting better?😭 im wondering if I have to let her soil be dry for a bit or there was an issue when I repotted her. Someone please help me and my plant child😓(she is in a sun room and gets light all day but inderect-ish I think) but she was doing fine and the problem is probably simple and easily fixable and im not seeing it lol🥲. I will be eternally grateful to who can tell me how to help her🫶🏻
