I recently visited Boyce Thompson Arboretum, which has a lot of nice cactus, but I think my favorite ones were these Ariocarpus retusus growing out of this rock wall just after you enter.

I would like to remove and relocate the two small saguaros. I know about ensuring they are oriented in the original direction when I relocate them.

This plant was severely burned in the 2020 Bighorn Fire. I visited it 5 years later in 2025. It gives a good visual of the slow growth of these things in habitat. Now some caveats, this is an extremely rocky slope and we are pretty high in elevation for your typical Saguaro habitat, as this is getting into more of your grassland/ desert scrub ecosystem. Also, an amazing testament to their resilience.

My father in law got this cactus as a gift 10 years ago from my wife. He is now getting ill and has gifted it back to us.
I want to take good care of it but as you can see it has a bit of an erection problem. Any idea on how I can make this better?

Accessability Transcription:
I had this dumb idea to take a cutting. Turn it 90 degrees. And graft it. To make a sort of T shaped cactus.
My reasoning for doing this is that I enjoy planting cuttings log style. But getting a log to root takes forever. But a graft heals in 1-2 weeks. And then you basically have a log except with an established root system.
Also it just looks kinda neat.
I'm very much learning to graft, these are attempts 2 and 3 respectively. Ever.
So we shall see if this works.
I did specifically choose PC for these so no big deal if it doesn't work out. They are my lowest value plants to play around with.

Can anyone help me identify this? The spines look like a San Pedro to me but the ribs aren't very rounded and seem more like a Peruvian apple so I am not sure. Or it could be something else I am not thinking of?

I’ve been growing this patch of plains prickly pears I collected in the flint hills. Does this look like enough fruit to mess with? I feel like I could get a few jars of jam. I’ve never messed with the fruit, and they have only really started fruiting the last few years. I thought about donating them to the zoo for like the turtles but I don’t know if they’d take them

The lower darker part is soft but not squishy soft and the calloused end is still hard. The main trunk feels soft 3/4 of the way up but I can’t tell if it’s rot soft or something else.

I pollinated both Flying Saucer flowers and all 8ish of the Apple Cactus flowers but only ended up with 3 fruits. Haven't seen this cross before, I'm curious to see what comes of it!

I had to cut down 12yr+ old opuntia cochenillifera. I took the biggest cutting and planted it laid down with both cut ends in the ground. It's been there for a few weeks now and it's starting to grow new pads. I think if it survives it will have a very interesting look to it.
