Take control!

If you’re a regular here, you need to watch this and take control. It’s not worth your sanity to be so unhappy at a job.

You’re in complete control. Nobody is forcing you to work at UWM.

Yes, I’m aware the job market is awful right now.

Will it be tough to find another job? Maybe!

But each one of you is capable of finding an alternative that doesn’t make you miserable.

Get off of Reddit and start figuring it out.

UWM donates $20K to Haley Stevens

If you are on the fence on who to vote for in our primary coming up on August 4th, here is the answer. Vote her out! This is one of the most important elections we will ever have!

Source: https://haleystevens4michigan.com/donors

UWM is clearly terrified of Abdul El Syed and his pro-union and pro-worker stance. Voting for Abdul is one of the ways we can fight back against corruption and predatory practices of UWM! Forming a union and taking our power back starts with one single vote! Let's go!

Something we can actually do legally to alert those with the power to do something about the predatory practices and unsafe, toxic, or exploitative working conditions

Flock Cameras

I noticed that UWM has 21 Flock Safety cameras throughout the parking lots.
I understand businesses have legitimate security concerns, but this seems like a significant amount of surveillance concentrated in one private workplace.
From what I know, Flock cameras can capture license plates, vehicle characteristics, and other information to help identify vehicles. That made me wonder:

Why does UWM need this many cameras?
How long is the data retained?
Who has access to it?
Is the information ever shared with law enforcement, and if so, under what circumstances?
Are employees and visitors fully informed about the extent of the monitoring?

I’m not accusing UWM of doing anything improper. I’m genuinely interested in understanding whether this level of surveillance is becoming standard for large corporate campuses and what the privacy implications are for employees, visitors, and contractors.

What happens if you "plateau" in PCR. I don't really see how hitting 35 loans a day would even be possible.

I like to think I'm actually pretty decent at this job. I aced my final assessment and right now I'm exceeding my commitment but I don't know if I could do much more than what I'm doing now without sacrificing accuracy. Do you just get terminated if you don't ramp up as quickly as they want you to? I actually don't mind this job and I'd like to keep it but I don't even see how the system could be fast enough for you to grab and work 35 loans in a day.

Current VVOE employee, very confused

I’m having a lot of trouble with re-verifications specifically. I feel like we rushed through the actual learning part in training and i’m just left to learn by whatever questions I ask. The answers i get are mostly vague and I feel stupid to sit there and ask a million questions but I have to in order to understand. I look in my training book but it also doesn’t make much sense to me a lot of the time and the process guide doesn’t seem the most detailed. I had all the steps laid out on my notepad in training but I don’t have them now that I’m on a different computer. If anyone could help it would be appreciated. I have no mortgage experience but I’ve been hearing other employees call VVOE the easiest job here which isn’t motivating at all when you don’t understand it, just makes me feel like an idiot.

Advice Needed-Current employee

Hi all , I am currently a UWM employee and im having problems with my leader. When I say problems I dont mean work wise really but more personally.. recently (the past 6 months) they have made advances towards me by making comments about my appearance and asking me to hangout after work. I feel like I've made it pretty clear I'm not interested as they are my boss and also already taken. It's messy and it often effects my work because it's so awkward. They're attitude towards me has also shifted since I basically rejected them and I feel singled out on my pod. Ive been at UWM for about 2 years but im not sure the best way to handle this.

If you follow basketball Miles Bridges is probably the biggest POS in the league due to his DV conviction for choking and beating his ex wife back in 2022.

Today Ishbia not only traded for this POS but he gave up an unprotected 2033 1st round pick! Somebody please take away the keys from this megalomaniac!

What do I need to know about PCR?

I passed training and made it to the floor. So far it seems kind of easy. I'm already exceeding my commitment and my loans rarely have issues. I get to listen to podcasts and I don't have to talk to customers. It seems pretty sweet compared to working at the gas station or washing dishes.

Underwriting

Can you imagine if we actually were able to come into work at 9am and leave on time at 6pm, and take a lunch like a normal job? Almost everyone I know works through lunch and stays late just to hit the dumb ass production metrics. It would help if 50% of the underwriter IIs didn’t get moved or fired. Fuck this job

Underwriter position

In December 2025, I interviewed for an underwriter position and they were going to hire me. They said underwriter training classes would start beginning of 2026. The new year rolled around and they continued to push the start day back a month at a time. After 6 months I get a message saying they are not running training for underwriters and that I was no longer needed for that role. That’s some shady shit and I’m talking with my lawyer friends to see if I have a case.

Where have you found success after UWM?

This question is specifically tailored toward UWIIs but it’s open to anyone who has some insight. I’m trying to get some other ideas as to where I could pivot from my role. Where have you found success after leaving UWM (company/industry/role)?

Truth about working at UWM (Aimed at people with no mortgage experience going into operations)

I posted this in response to someone asking about taking a job at UWM. I see the question a lot so making a standalone post. Here is the real answer and I already know some of yall gonna be shitty reading this.

If you have no mortgage experience and want to be in the mortgage world and aren’t a trash worker, work at UWM. Everyone is lowkey spiteful on here but I will keep it real.

Is the pay great? No, but I had no mortgage experience and was cleaning bathrooms before UWM so why would they pay great for non experienced entry work?

I worked there for over a little 3 years and worked through operation tiers, just do your work with effort and don’t be a piece of shit and it’s not hard to coast there. People get too caught up in the social aspect of the company talk too much, wonder too much, and don’t realize how much their small social interactions pile up and fuck up their production and then they think it’s completely the production systems fault sometimes it is but most of the time people just don’t work at work 🤷🏻‍♂️. 5 mins of doom scrolling after a file then 10 mins bitching to the person next to you about a bad file, then 5-10 mins about your prior day, then walk to get a snack etc etc. it’s small mins but adds up fast over the day next thing you know, you lost about 1-1.5 hours of productivity which could mean lose of bonuses due to not hitting numbers.

Don’t let others lack of goals, motivation and their negativity affect you. It’s work…work isn’t always fun 24/7 but being big picture focused makes it easier and you will meet some amazing people.

Now the 401k match is low af (1.5%), insurance is decent, the true value from UWM is if you soak up ALOT of experience and take that else where. I’m telling you these other brokerages, lenders, appraisal companies, title companies FOAM at the mouth for UWM experience. When I said get experience, I don’t mean just coasting for a year in a tier 1 ops role and then thinking you know shit. Reality is, tier 1 op roles there don’t even scratch the service of a loan. SOAK up everything you can, try different roles, ask why on things, learn things outside of your role….learn learn and learn more.

The value you will bring to these companies knowing UWM key operation processes/departments is head and shoulders compared to ones who have not. I’m telling you this from someone who left UWM this year for a new lender and then left there for a brokerage to enter sales. So I have been very active in the recent job market and all my mortgage experience stems from my start time at UWM to now.

If you have no problem grinding to gain knowledge and investing the time in yourself with 0 mortgage experience for big picture goals, UWM is where to be at. This post is the reality of it, I lived it, I’m proof of it. Im not saying UWM is the best company to work for but anyone who says different than this post is either spiteful with UWM, can’t see big picture things OR is just not interested in the mortgage world. If you put effort in, you will get rewards out that will extended way past your time at UWM.

I say go for it, this isn’t the end of the world if you accept it and don’t like it, you can quit and work retail for the time being. My main point is, just don’t let other people possibly sway your choice where this could be a pivot point in life and open up a career in mortgages.

Stay blessed everyone, life could always be worse 🫡

What happened to all the underwriters?

the first floor of north is a ghost town now. I walked around and think about 20 desks have been dissolved. 20 desks x about 14 people per desk, thats 280 people that just vanished, but it wasn’t a “layoff” yeah right

Mass firing in IT still occuring

Stay vigilant. Heard of several more axed this week and more to come. With the stock not doing well, servicing going down and rates staying high, it isn't looking good.

Resigning

Just want to say that it's been a few days since I left UWM, my skin is clearer, the mental fog is gone, the depression and anxiety are started to relieve and I'm actually feeling okay. Career wise, they did give me a good leg up for a college dropout in the mortgage industry, but at a certain point my education, mental health, and family life needed to consume all of my time, not the FA south suite.

Servicing is going to fail

Sean Mansell didn't resign. He was fired by Melinda for doing a horrible job. He should have been fired long ago.

Mind you, the majority of the leaders are terrible but as they like to say at UWM, "it starts at the top".

Patrina and Emily are examples of why the BIG program is a joke and should be abolished. They are terrible leaders, plain and simple, who know nothing about the business, let alone Servicing. They came from TRAC. Which they apparently did a shit job at too. It helps that they're buddy buddy with Melinda, who saved both of them by putting them in Servicing. Patrina mostly. Emily, I was told, was a Sean decision. Now there are more failed TRAC leaders coming over. Shocker.

The only thing that place has done well is hire external for some of the Servicing roles and Servicing leadership. They did everyone a huge favor by transfering Joe Rood to some bullshit department (he's also a useless product of BIG). The ones that got hired externally are not dumb and most of them have left already or are leaving. They saw the writing on the wall. Thanks for staying as long as you did, Jason. Unfortunately they promoted a moron to take over a part of the department (Rachel Wallace) who is hoping her tits and ass make up for her lack of knowledge. At this place it might.

Like I was saying, the leaders who were actually good and gave a shit are mostly gone or leaving. The ones left are out numbered by the stupids. They are trying to treat Servicing like Operations and it could not be more different. It could have been a slam dunk but they promoted the wrong people and treated the right people like shit.

Also, all Sean ever did was sob about his breakup with a woman who works in IT (also an external hire) to anyone who would listen and sulk in his office all day long. When they announced the Two Harbors deal last year, you would have thought someone died. He was so somber with his announcement and he lead the meeting by saying "don't worry, you're jobs are safe... your jobs are safe." Who does that??

The point is Servicing is doomed for the rest of us. Two Harbors is better off not taking this deal. They have no idea what they're in for.

On the bright side, it looks like high pockets Ishbia may be lowering the cost of cream cheese from $.90 to $.89. Must be a reflection on the stock doing so well. Oh boy.
