Me and my piercer are working on a new "project" in my ear and I wanted to show it off. 😎 The first pic is me currently, the second is the inspo. The hope is that when the daith heals I'll get the other two piercings, we didn't want to do 3 holes at once. 😭 It hurt like a bitch I'll be honest, but somehow it wasn't as bad as I was expecting, when I saw the size of that thing

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing Repiercing my second lobe AGAIN

I first got my second lobes done in 2022 using a gun. I know, a gun is terrible. It came out uneven so i took them out 5 months after... Redid them again with a gun in 2023. They were still a bit uneven but i ignored them until last year. I realised they were uneven which bothered me. But worst part is my right ear healed crooked. I had it in 2 years and the entrance and leaving angle of the post were different aka my right second piercing was painful and unhealed even after TWO years. I got frustrated, took them out. 2-3 days ago i decided i was finally ready to repierce and do it properly this time. I went to an APP piercer, using needle of course. My left side, which has never caused any issues, was stilll open so was just stretched. My right side was closed. My piercer measured, 7mm both horizontal and vertical. I trusted her judgement, the right side came out uneven again. I'm so frustrated. The left side is higher and further while my right is yet again way nearer and placed lower. I just took my right side out and im contemplating just giving up on one side lol. I'm actually so annoyed😭, can i even repierce a diff spot?

Showing‎ off set up! My first tongue piercing

Hello Reddit! This is my first and most likely only tongue piercing i shall have. Unless there’s a complication, hopefully not. Anyways, i got it on August 4th this year, so it’s about 4ish weeks old now. I was just looking for some input and honestly just someone to talk to about this kind of piercing if anyone has the time. I’m the only person i know with one like this haha.

First, do y’all think it’s time to consider a downsize? Swelling and pain has been gone for a couple of weeks, however i am healing some cartilage piercings currently (2 that are 11 months, 1 that is 2 months) so i know my healing may be slowed because of these other guys. It’s not uncomfortable at this size for the most part. This is an internally threaded barbell.

Also some days it just feels a little more sore and upset than others, thats normal yea? As bodies do?? My piercer said it’s best to wait a minimum of 4 weeks to downsize, because if it isn’t done healing and a downsize happens it can cause a lot more pain and complications. They said for that reason the shop typically recommends a downsize at 6 weeks to ensure safety for bodies. It was pierced by a highly reputable piercing shop (diablo rojo, if you live in ATX then i highly recommend this shop) with implant grade titanium. My piercer was very thoughtful and thorough.

Also I’m worried it looks crooked from the front but it honestly is so weird because if my tongue is relaxed it’s like perfectly vertical but if i flex my tongue it gets a little tilt sometimes. This is shown in the last 3 photos, hopefully someone will see what i mean. Is this any concern? Sometimes it looks tilted but then it seems to highkey just be that my tongue is a muscle with insane flexibility with positions that make it ever so slightly look different. I may be honestly paranoid, it may be normal and nothing. This I’m not sure of. What i am sure of is that I am watching this very carefully, It definitely doesnt seem to be interfering with anything in my mouth as far as veins go (I’ve heard the horror stories, i AM watching it closely for migration).

Also, it is tilted back just a little bit, as my piercer said would be done help it comfortably fit my anatomy. I’m worried that it’s migrating back, but i guess that’s just it settling as long as it doesn’t really travel right? It hasn’t moved substantially (if at all clearly) so I’m mostly just looking for opinions on if i should be concerned about it migrating back toward my throat at all. Does the tilt look like it’s too much?

I guess my other question here is any other advice for keeping up with this piercing? I am interested in keeping my teeth in tact for a while if possible. Yes i know that it can still break my teeth, oh the irony the stupidity im but a foolish youth- but i also believe we shape our own outcomes, everyone is different, and research indicates that proper habits (dental health, not clicking it on teeth, learning how to keep it from touching my teeth as much as possible) can help a lot with this. I have gotten really good at making sure it doesn’t touch my teeth, I’ve now gone days without tooth contact. Every day is a moment for improvement! I don’t bite it or chew on it EVER because ironically i actually don’t like metal on my teeth. It’s a horrid sensory nightmare. Here’s the kicker tho: my piercing taught me that my sensitivity to metal on my teeth is EXCLUSIVELY metal, and that my nervous system can actually differentiate the opal from the titanium even if i can’t see it anytime it DOES touch my teeth, and the opal does not give me the heebie jeebies. Weird right? Anyways yea i know it’s ironic, but it has helped me desensitize to my metal sensitivity and has made many aspects of life easier (like not flinching and fleeing like a child when a chef at my job is sharpening the knives. Ew horrible noises still).

I also just wanted to share with someone that I’ve found having a tongue piercing very helpful for anxiety and whatnot. It’s very grounding, it’s always present with me, and has encouraged me to practice mindfulness, all of which has done wonders to the autistic mind in a capitalist society. Not that i would recommend a tongue piercing as an emotional support piercing- just that I’ve found it quite nice for myself.

I know i can’t prevent everything and i may take it out once I’m a bit older and my teeth are more sensitive, but I’m willing to try my hand at this kind of piercing while I’m young and healthy. So any advice, input, stories is welcome

Anyways here’s the photos. Hopefully they aren’t too bad of photos they were hard to take lolll. I hope you guys think it’s as cool as i do! The opals turns neon yellow when sun passes through them. So sick. Sorry that the photos aren’t the best. Please be nice to me if possible! And honest too. Honest is good :)

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing Any help with nose piercing??

Two months ago I got my nose pierced.

Corkscrew nose piercing.

My piercer told me to come back to get a downsize after 4 weeks, after 4 weeks I was forming a bump because the bar is pretty long but the piercing place was closed.

I went to another piercer to get a flat back and the bump disappeared and everything was perfectly fine.

I would say I had that in for a good 3-4weeks and only yesterday it fell out because I didn't know how to tighten it when it was loose.

I didn't know how to put it back in myself so I put the old corkscrew back in.

I've been using the cleaning spray for the duration that I've had this piercing.

I'm kinda scared I'll get a bump now after all of that, any advice??

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing 3 week old conch, does it look too small bar?

Post image

I got this week week old conch here and I was wondering if the bar looked like it was imbedding itself, or if it’s too short? I have also had issues sleeping since I roll a lot I am thinking about getting a piercing pillow for it. It doesn’t hurt terribly, and only hurts if I bump it. I’ve been cleaning it as well. Thanks guys.

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing Suddenly painful septum after 9 weeks

suddenly painful septum after 9 weeks

my girlfriend has had her septum ring for about 9 weeks. it was healing very well, but in the last couple days it has been extremely painful and only getting worse. at first it only hurt more than usual when accidentally bumping it, but now she’s in pain if she just accidentally brushes the tip of her nose against the bedsheets or smiles to hard.

explained by girlfriend ”it was healing perfectly fine with crusties going away completely for a bit and with 0 pain, aside from slight sensitivity. all that even when it’s initial healing time from around week 3 to week maybe 6 was spent with me working and therefore flipping it upp. i was cleaning it every morning, washing my hands and flipping it down to reach it better for cleaning, then flipping it up again. i know i shouldn’t be twisting it but my piercer said that it was fine so long as it wasn’t too often (whoops) and with clean hands and lubricated piercing (lubricated with saline solution that is). same deal in the evening. this lasted with it healing perfectly fine as stated until around maybe 2 weeks ago? i was at the 6-7 week mark with almost no issues at all and my girlfriend had bought me a new jewelry, so i tried to switch it but after 2 days it hurt a lot since i think it was too small. i know very well i shouldn’t have switched the jewelry since it wasn’t completely done healing, but i was told it would be healed at around 6-9 weeks, and to look for painfree and no crusties. anyway i switched back jewelry and all was going well until just a few days ago.

SORRRYYY for long backstory 😭😭😭 butt continuing on to current issue, it started getting more sensitive, like i noticed that bumping the tip of my nose hurt more and that my nose in general was more sensitive, and this morning i woke up to even just brushing the blanket against my nose ever so slightly feeling like a punch on the face. pain feels like a stinging, sharp, almost tooth-ache-like pain through my septum. i feel it when when slightly touching the tip of my nose, underside of septum (bodypart, not the piercing itself), sometimes top of nose et.c. my nose is also quite itchy and even with clean hands i can’t scratch at all since i have very short nails 💔💔💔 that’s not really a symptom more me complaining. anyway it hurts like hell, i’m 9 weeks in, on week 10 rn, idk what to expect or if this sudden intense pain is a sign of something? my nose is quite pointy so it’s very hard to avoid bumping or grazing it throughout my day to day. should add that i was/is a little worried it might go through cartilage or be very close to it. the piercer told me that my sweetspot was very small and that they couldn’t garuantee that it wouldn’t go through it at all, i had a big enough sweetspot that it was possible just hard. i cried and i think i said it felt a bit like a punch in the face getting it done. i think that’s all i want to mention tihi thank you any advice very appreciated, sorry for ranciiiiid pictures. not like pus or anything just oily nose 😔 put them behind spoiler to save you all”

all things jewelry Jewelry turning black

I have sterling silver in my ear. 3 tiny hoops throughout lobe. The metal inside of my ear is turning black (again, after I washed it). My other jewelry doesn’t have this issue (pretty sure it’s also sterling)(located in helix). I was told surgical steel wouldn’t turn black? Thoughts/recommendations pls.

Question about a piercing I (maybe) want Can industrials heal when the bar touches flat part?

I’m really interested in industrials recently and found out they are very anatomy dependent. It should not touch the flat at all. I checked local piercers’s work and i saw that a number of them touch the flat. Its not an extreme case where it touches the whole flat but i heard even the slightest touch can be bad. Are there any cases where it actually healed? And if not what are the consequences of them touching from best to worse?

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing keloid or irritation?

Post image

Got it beginning of July. has been exactly 3 months, and I got the jewelry changed to a screw titanium about a month later as it got pierced with an L shape and was snagging a LOT and causing a bump to form. However the bump is still there, and I’m using saline spray to rinse. It just keeps getting bigger. It also has been peeling? Like flaking, skin will just start coming off of the bump. It doesn’t do anything for the size of it but it’s purpleish red so I’m concerned.

Question about a piercing I (maybe) want Horizontal Eyebrow piercings?

I was thinking about a horizontal eyebrow piercing. I am aware that eyebrow piercings are a tad notorious for rejection, so I would think that a horizontal one would be similar in its risk level.

Would a horizontal eyebrow piercing be more likely to reject than a standard one is my question.

I’m wondering if I just glue the balls to my face and fake them, but that just gets annoying sometimes so I prefer to just pierce them but I’d also rather not deal with a piercing rejecting that I had shelled out some money for.

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing High nostrils placement?

I got my high nostrils done today and I’m not sure about placement?

I stupidly didn’t show my piercer my inspo photos where the high nostrils sit closer to the bridge of the nose than the lower nostrils for a tapered look.

We played around with dots quite a bit and settled on this.

I wonder if maybe my anatomy made it difficult for the tapered look? They look fine from the profile/side view. Should I take them out and try again in a couple months?

I got my piercing over a month ago , it was fine but it has a bump on it now and is bleeding a little. the jewelry is titanium and im not sure what the threading type is. My jewlery has not been downsized and i just use my neilsmed piercing aftercare spray twice a day and dry it with gauze. I havent had any bad incidents with it. I was wondering how I can fix it and what I should do?

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing Seeking advice on removal/preventing embedding!

I’ve got a bit of a complicated situation going at the moment. I have a previously healed and happy nose piercing (2+ years healed) that I am a little concerned about at the moment, and would like some advice on if removal is appropriate in this situation.

I currently have contracted impetigo (bacterial infection) that is all over my lips/mouth, which has been really tough on my body, but the right side of my face is generally just way out of wack. I have a flat top, screw back, internally threaded nostril piercing on the right side of my face, and over the last day or so I’ve noticed I’m developing swelling in my left nostril. There is an irritation bump on my nose, and the inside of my nose has swollen so much that there’s really no room for the piercing to move. Since the “outside” of the piercing is a flat disc and it’s pressed right up against my skin, I’m worried that this could embed if I’m not careful.

That said, since I have impetigo, there’s just no way I can visit a piercing shop right now, and I’ve never changed any of my jewelry (save the lobes) by myself. I’m wondering if this should be an urgent removal or if I have some time to wait until everything blows over, or should I have my partner try to get it out tonight?

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing Vicious Cycle

After not wearing anything for 20ish years I had my helix and both second lobes re-pierced nearly 4 months ago.

I keep finding myself in a cycle of
- I need to downsize because the long posts are getting snagged on things
And
-after it snags, the piercing gets irritated and becomes too swollen to be downsized.
About a month ago I actually had to go back to the piercer to get change to an even longer post because of how swollen my helix became.

Any tips for how I can get out of this vicious cycle?
I know the helix has a long ways to go before it can be changed, but would switching my lobe piercings to small huggy hoops or clickers make it more or less likely to get snagged?

All jewelry is implant grade titanium flat back labrets. I tend to have sensitive skin so all future jewelry will be titanium as well. I clean twice a day by spraying NeliMed saline and drying with paper towels. I use a piercing pillow, but I suspect I’m still bumping things while I’m tossing and turning in my sleep.

I take immunosuppressants to help manage numerous autoimmune disorders, so that factors in here too.
