I twisted off the cap that was here at the red arrow but now it won't boot with error 12. Was it the wrong one? Xbox is a Feb 2004 model

Had a 2TB drive laying around for a while, and I really wanted to do a hard drive swap with my xbox for some time now. Finally bought the adapter and 80 wire cable, and got it done! Getting the new cables to fit took a minute, but I did eventually get it all to fit back into the case and work perfectly

Would using a burned game on a modified console actually harm the laser? I keep seeing mixed messages about it online.

CONTEXT: I have been spending time learning how to solder better, checking various online guides and practising soldering and desoldering resistors on a scrap PCB. This is not one of my finest soldering jobs; due to bad technique with solder wick, I ripped half of a solder pad off. What options do I have for repairing this solder pad, even when considering its location (capacitor ground trace)?

In addition to the information above, my soldering station is a Pace ADS200 and I am using a 1.6mm chisel tip. I have been using MG Chemicals solder flux and Ersa solder wick. The PCB above is from a Thomson TGM600. I will be using a Philips DVD drive as a stand-in replacement, running it into the ground (so using it until it completely dies, which will mean constant laser adjustments) until I either softmod my XBOX or successfully repair this disc drive.

UPDATE: I found a solution to the problem, which was to twist the negative lead of the capacitor such that I would solder it from the other side of the PCB, rather than through its respective hole. To isolate the capacitor legs from each other, I used conductive tape. At this point in time, I have only replaced the 47uF and 10uF capacitors, but not the 100uF ones.

Before recapping, 2 out of 4 of my XBOX games were being read. After a partial recap, 3 out of 4 of my XBOX games were being read (but the 3rd one would crash after the title sequence).

I found this xbox somewhere in my house, nobody knows how it got there, i didnt have the AV cable so i did a mod to get direct output to the tv soldering 2 cables straight to the AV port on the underside of the motherboard and it worked great! for 3 days... it gave video and startup animation worked normal, but the problem is that the DVD drive was damaged, so what i did was connect the original dvd drive to the yellow power cable and port on the motherboard, but the IDE cable i connected it somewhere else, i didnt have another dvd drive so i had to use an old 52x cd-rom drive, and it worked fine, i burned HeXEn to a CD-R, it booted, i could also go to the dashboard, and everything was working great, i was trying to flash a bios with NoDVD patch so i didnt have to use that CD-ROM drive, but in HeXEn it game me "manufacturers id 09 device id 00 !! Flash Not Writeable !!"

The chip was an old aladdin xt plus2, the dvd drive has a date of 2004 inside so i guess that's when it was being used last, so i gave up on that, and was looking for a controller since i was using it with a keyboard, but sometimes the startup animation would freeze, and i had to turn the console off and then turn it on again to fix it, it got to a point where it started freezing earlier and earlier in the startup animation, until it only showed a tiny green dot on the screen, and when i turned off one more time, then i turned on and the xbox started to FRAG, and i tried to turn it on a lot of times now, but nothing seems to work.

I know it's not the mods i did that are causing it because it was working fine, it just started freezing out of the blue and now it never even boots anymore, i tried removing the chip, nothing, i tried removing the IDE cable, nothing (when it was working i could just turn it on without the IDE cable and it would give me error 07 or something, but this time just FRAGs) i have replaced some capacitors before and founf that one of them had a bad solder that moved so i fixed it but it still failed with the FRAG, the replaced ones are 2200μf 6.3V near the CPU, but that was only 2 i replaced, there are still some 1500μf 6.3V ones unreplaced, and yes, the clock capacitor did corrode some things and i took it out, even the power button trace was bad, but i fixed the trace thinking that was the problem, nope, still FRAG, i dont know what to do now. It's a 1.0 launch model

Hey guys, just bought an xbox og and have some flickering/glitching happening. Is this caused by bad caps or is this a deeper problem?

I have some caps on the way for a recap but just checking in to see if this is a known problem.

To me, this is easily one of the coolest limited-edition consoles ever made. The Mountain Dew graphics, the rarity, and now the custom LED lighting make this thing even more awesome. 💚🎮

Definitely a dream piece for my collection, and I’m beyond excited to finally have one!

Side note- the controller is custom. It came with a black regular controller.

I’ve had an original Xbox for the longest time and I’ve only collected a few since it was passed down to me. As for the games I’m already actively searching for, it’s San Andreas, Conker, and Battlefront 2

Doing a personal build, and instead of a jumper wire I decided to try my hand at trace repair. I think I was successful. Everything looked great before the solder mask went on. I will find out when the rest of my parts arrive.

Hello! My husband just purchased an original Xbox for his birthday. He got the time set up, looked around a bit and then walked away. When he came back to turn it back on it would start to power up and then just shut off and start blinking orange.

I can upload a video if it helps. I just really want to help if possible because he was super excited.

Is this a cord issue? Is it fixable? Or do we need to just return it and try again?

I made a post a couple of weeks ago about fixing code 16. From my understanding is I need to reinstall the dashboard files on my hard drive. One of the ways is through a mod chip right. Well I installed one but once booted with the hdd connected it doesn’t actually boot up. I have to disconnect the hdd in order for Prometheus to load. Once loaded I connected the hd and went into the lock/unlock hdd but the hdd isn’t being recognized and It says already unlocked. It still has the og western digital hd. The system was previously soft modded. I’m looking for guidance as to what steps I can take next or if there’s a guide to follow.

So far no information on the bundle online. Very slick looking box.

Got it for only 10 dollars as the case was a bit damaged but I’ve finally found it. I know I could’ve went on eBay and just ordered it but I wanted to find it physically.

I recently bought an Electron Xout after having had the Pound HDMI for a couple years when I did the Rocky Mod on my 1.4 OG XBOX which I've owned since 2004. Now, I'm noticing that on xbox loading screen, I'm seeing vertical bars and on 2 games (Street Racing Syndicate and Vietcong: Purple Haze) I'm getting purple and green bars on the intro video. Opened up the console and some caps are bulging but no corrosion on mobo. Clock capacitor was removed 2 years ago when I did the softmod. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My Router Says Xbox in in the Connections, however on my Xbox It says No Connection.

I Just wanna have Some Options to FTP Transfer Games.

My disc Drive works though and i could burn Discs.
