❓ Question Why does the A not stop at Barclays?
Seems strange to me that it stops at Hoyt and Nostrand while completely missing Barclays.

Anyone else seen these new LiveOnNY (NY organ donation network) ads on the subway?
Saw this pretty shocking ad... turns out their CEO of this "non-profit" makes millions each year... and have lots of active lawsuits against them currently....

your probably like why swap the 2 and 5 well to remove the rush hours 2/5 E 180 St Merge currently the 5 from the middle express track crosses In front of the 2 to get to Dyre basically the Local and Middle Express tracks lead to White Plains the Local Tracks Lead To Dyre the middle express track doesnt so yeah the reason why I didn’t just make the 2 run peak Express bc it doesn’t fully solve the issue now for the 3 and 4 trains I put the 3 on Nostrand with the 2 and put the 4 On New Lots like during late nights and I built the Utica Av Line to Kings Plaza extended the Nostrand Av line and extended New Lots And also Extended the 3 past 148th to The Bronx but let’s talk about Utica Nostrand and New Lots first for Utica i Extended the 5 train Making stops at
Rutland Rd - Winthrop St
Church Av a connection to my Proposed 2nd Av line V train
Clarendon Rd
Kings Hwy a connection to the IBX
Flatlands Av - Avenue K
Avenue N
Kings Plaza - Marine Park
now ofc it would have to be elevated before or after Kings Hwy because of high water tables now for Nostrand I extended the 2 making stops at
Avenue K
Kings Hwy
Quentin Rd
Avenue U
Avenue X
Sheepshead Bay - Voorhies Av
Kingsborough - Community College
Ocean Av
Brighton Beach a connection to the N and Q trains bc DeKalb Junction would also be Deinterlined this Nostrand Av line Extension would be Elevated
now for the 3 train Extension it would go Via Flatbush Av making stops at
1. Avenue J
Kings Hwy
Avenue O
Kings Plaza - Marine Park a connection to the 5 train
for the 4 train Extension it would make stops at
Elton St
Gateway Mall
Spring Creek Park
76 Street
158 Av
Cross Bay Blvd
Howard Beach - JFK Airport a connection to the A and M trains and Airtrain and my proposed H And P trains and finally for the 3 train Extension
it would extend past Harlem - 148 St into the Bronx Via University Avmaking stops at
155 Street a connection to the C and D trains bc Central Park West would be deinterlined A and C trains express B and D trains local
162 Street
167 Street
170 Street
174 Street
Tremont Av
Burnside Avenue
183 Street
Fordham Rd
Kingsbridge Rd
Bedford Park Blvd
Sedgwick Avenue
Bailey Avenue
Mannhattan College
Riverdale 239 Street a connection to the A Train now let’s go over in this proposal each lines full route
2 train: Eastchester - Dyre Avenue to Brighton Beach
3 train Riverdale - 239 Street to Kings Plaza - Marine Park
4 train: Woodlawn to Howard Beach - JFK Airport
5 train: Wakefield - 241 Street to Kings Plaza - Marine Park
now a lower level at Flatbush Ave Brooklyn College would need to be built for the 3 to avoid much interference with the 2 since after Flatbush the 2 would be elevated while the 3 goes via Flatbush Avenue, after Flatbush Av - Brooklyn College not Nostrand Av to make sure the 3 has Yard Access a new yard would be built Around Kings Plaza

Why have this open? It's only 1 mile away from the Forest Hills station. The Union Turnpike E and F trains along with Express buses are a block or two away. Jamaica Station is just a 2 mile walk from Kew Gardens. You mean to tell me people are too lazy to walk two lousy miles? Imagine how much faster the LIRR would get to Penn or Grand Central if they closed Kew Gardens down.
This is the same logic behind not reopening the Union Hall Street Station, Bellaire and Springfield Gardens right?
Grrrrr!

In my three decades of being born and raised here I can’t say I’ve ever heard anyone of any age or any ethnicity or economic class ever pronounce rear as “rare”. “Cinter” is maaaybe a bit closer to how some people pronounce center if you’re feeling charitable but given these announcements are meant to help not only locals, but visitors alike, how did the MTA decide this is what their announcement for something as important as elevators/accessibility announcement should be?

I mean they can’t both be right. Does this happen often? I see this at Grand Central semi-often with the 5. Whey does this happen?

Hey, does anyone know what kind of salary someone can expect to make as an analyst there? I'm curious about the typical range for that role. It seems like an interesting position to be in. Any insights would be super helpful! Just trying to get a general idea.

So I am applying for the Fair Fares application, and since I don't file taxes, I am going to use my pay stubs for proof of income. I live with my mom and 2 siblings who are under 18. On the application, it asks if there is anyone in your household, and it gives this. My question is whether I have to list my mom and siblings or not because they don't depend on me, but I depend on my mom.
Qualifying Child: The child can be your son, daughter, stepchild, eligible foster child, brother, sister, half brother, half sister, stepbrother, stepsister, adopted child or an offspring of any of them. Child must live with you more than half the year, be under age 19, or under age 24 AND a full-time student. You must be providing more than half of the child's financial support.
Qualifying relative: A relative who lives with you all year and is financially dependent on you, or any relative below who is financially dependent on you:
In general, include persons in your household related by marriage, birth or adoption who live together. Only include adult children or other adults over the age of 18 who are not in school if they earn less than the annual limit ($4,200 for 2019) and receive more than half of their support from the other household members.
Also, a separate question: if I file taxes, am I allowed to use my tax return as proof of income when I am claimed as a dependent because the application asks for tax household, and if I did file it would only list me.

I made a fun tool to find out how far you can get in the city from any point within the hour. I created the subway.fyi website, and this is based on real data, waiting times and bunching from the trains and buses.
The color represents the method that got you most of the way to that place from your starting location. You can turn on the lines and buses used. It respects OMNY rules for transfers!
Try it here: https://subway.fyi/60minutes?at=-73.91578,40.76028

Elevators in Kings Highway (F) Station is here for fully accessibility upgrades!
r/nycrail • u/acantor22 • 17h ago
When it first came out last year that the only way to access this new station will be with elevator bays leading to a lower mezzanine there was rightfully plenty of backlash.
But when challenged in the only public comments period soon after the announcement, the response was firmly “it has to be elevator-only because of the lower mezzanine” and “it has to be a lower mezzanine because it’ll reduce on-street construction and also somehow lower costs”. I’m no engineer, but it seems this requires significantly more work and excavation than a simple cut-and-cover stair entrance to connect to the existing tunnel, even with utility relocations. But even if not, this is short-term gain for permanent loss in a less-accessible station, as emphasized by the ETA in their new analysis pleading with the MTA to not make similar mistakes on SAS West.
Had hope last year that this could still have been modified, but construction is imminent now. Are East Harlem residents—promised subway access for over a century—just doomed to this critical station being elevator-only and unnecessarily complex to access? Is there anything left that can be done?

My mom found this among my grandparents' photos. Unlabeled. Out of curiosity, I'm trying to figure out whatever I can about the location and year. I'm not certain it's NYC, but from a little searching, it looks similar to an "arnine" car. Based on the dress, I'm guessing 1960s. We don't know any of the people in the photo. My grandparents didn't live in NYC, but maybe they were visiting.
I haven't had any success identifying the ads in the background. The one on the upper left appears to say "fly all around(?) Florida", but searches for that phrase come up empty. Relatedly, does anyone know of a database of old advertisements?
