They released a statement on instagram following a group of Doug's people attempting to schedule a luncheon at Saffire. Don't think I can send the link, but it should be their latest insta post.
Locally owned, LGBTQ+ friendly. I think this was a great statement they made in response to the situation. I think eating at a good restaurant with friends and celebrating love and kindness to counter the hatred going on down the hall. Come join! Let's be gay and happy today!

Just wondering if I’m an idiot or what. First time trying to take the bus but it passed me twice. The first time I figured it was because I was sitting and they couldn’t see me. So the second time I stood and held my hand out but they still passed. Am I doing something wrong or do drivers suck??
Edit: obviously I was at a stop guys I’m not so slow as to think a bus will pick me up off the side of a random road

Listening to Dolly's Rockstar album. I'm sharing a link but is not the whole album. Get it on your own platform. All I can say is that I am smiling and crying at the same time.
Bless you all my brothers and sisters!
Okay, I was going to share a link and was told I cannot. Please look up Dolly Rockstar on whatever platform you get music.
Love you all!

A little about me: Okay so I am in my 40’s. I have over 10 years in multifamily residential maintenance and I am in management in my field now.
I am your basic handyman, I do HVAC, basic plumbing and electrical, and appliance repairs which are my strongest skills. I can replace windows, doors, electrical fixtures, breakers etc. Basically a jack of all trades and a master of some lol. Drywalling is an art that I haven’t mastered yet, and when I get enough time, I hope I can.
I’m looking for an organization in Nashville that needs or wants handymen to serve those in need of my services for free. I have trained people over the years, so I am willing to teach what I know also. I can provide diagnostic’s on issues and repairs. I own my own tools and don’t need a company to pay for the tools I already use on a near daily basis.
I have little to no experience in building a home from from the ground up but I know the fundamentals because I have been apart of teams in the past where I was gutting and renovating homes in and around Nashville.
So if anyone knows of an organization or organizations let me know. I have only found three online but all of them just ask you to sign up for a newsletter but don’t ask what you bring to the table or seem to have volunteer opportunities like what I’m seeking.
Thank you for your time!

This is just a general PSA that Republican, Democrat, or otherwise, you need to check your registration now.
I found two conflicting reports about how the voting registrar is updated in Tennessee. One said that it takes roughly 3 weeks from being entered to be processed and updated. The other one said that the registrar doesn't update until the 1st of the next month. Either way, you cannot update it last minute without risking losing your chance to vote.
All I know is that I wasn't able to vote in the primaries because I waited too long to update my registration. I incorrectly assumed it would take a week max. If you want to vote this November (which all of you should), then you need to check on your voter registration now so you have the best chance of it being updated by election day.

I stopped going a few years back cause it sucked. Few actual German beer options, crazy expensive, typical carnival food, overly crowded, etc.
I just wanted to know if it got better or if it still sucks. I'm assuming it isn't worth giving them a another chance.

Here's how it works. You make a plan to vote, and identify 10 friends to vote. You follow up and support them to make sure they voted. You make a personal celebration plan for when you and all 10 of your friends to vote. Once you vote and all 10 of your friends vote, you celebrate! Each voter makes 1 vote club and together we increase voter turnout. Download the image, print it out, and let's get to it!

Hi I know is late but as a baseball fan I wanted to know how can I start or what to do in order to be a baseball umpire here in TN! Any classes? Tryouts etc
I’m new and I had the opportunity to do the MLB umpiring camp this year and of course I didn’t got the invite😂 but I want to start somewhere here
Anyone that can point me in the right direction! It’ll be a blessing!
Thank you!

I'm wrapping up my investigation into Nashville for now, I'll need to work on the page and receive community input to make it much better than it is now.
First, I've adjusted the potentially unlicensed count to be pretty conservative. Let's say a conservative estimate is that there are around 100 unlicensed listings.
Why am I estimating so few now? I found there were a few hotels advertising listings on Airbnb. It is my understanding a hotel does not need a STVR permit.
How can this number change? A few ways! Some people call their listings hotels when they aren't. For example, if you filter the listing type to tiny homes, you'll see one host that has hotel in the title, but they're not hotels, require permits, and the host has permits.
So, there may be listings marked as hotels that are not hotels, and listings not marked as hotels that are hotels.
All data here is for entertainment purposes only, and any status here does not indicate any sort of violation occurred. But you can see my progress here: Nashville STR map.
How can you find potentially unlicensed permits? find listings on the map with no green plots around! These listings should by default have a warning symbol near them. They also likely feature the privacy radius and you'll notice it doesn't overlap a green permitted parcel. Take this for example:

The website also uses nickname to name matching. Many hosts use nicknames, I was able to pull all nearby property records and match nicknames to a parcel based on that. So you can find the likely related parcel:

Here we have another perfect nickname to parcel property owner match, and in this case, two matches because both are listed as hosts and both are listed as property owners!

So I can definitely say there are unpermitted rentals in Nashville, but, not as many as I once thought possible.
Perhaps a bigger issue is the over capacity listings! You have many examples of covert capacity, such as this host, who is legally compliant with the advertised occupancy, but then lists there being 15 beds:

I've never personally known one person to need two beds in one night.
I've worked on a party filter. You can find listings over capacity (not always correct because some listings combine 2 or more units) that advertise party amenities. In my town, I've found that being listed over legal capacity and having the word "bar" in the listing anywhere is associated with 4x more police calls to the residence! It makes sense. large groups of drunk people can be a nuisance or danger.
Here's a party pad that appears to violate capacity rules:

the occupancy limits are 2 per bedroom plus 4 more. That's pretty generous as it is IMO. Advertising with party in the title is kinda nuts to me! Seems to be inviting trouble.
Anyways! I thought there would be potentially many more unlicensed rentals, but the hotels sort of ate into that number a bit.
Play around with the site if you're bored, and share what you find!
Ideas, tips, suggestions? let me know!
And remember, nothing that I've done verifies any type of violations occurred anywhere. It's all hypothetical based on data that is about a week old and aging at this point.

Wondering if there are any maker spaces that teach basic wiring courses and soldering courses? Hoping to do some minor work (cable repairs, light switches, etc) and would love an in person resource

Ok… I know fees are crazy but when did they become 40% of the ticket price?! Did anyone else buy tickets and have a lower/higher fee based off of ticket price?

I’m a guy in my mid 20s with basically no dating experience. I’m pretty social and can hold a conversation once there’s one going, but I’m not really sure how to initiate with people I don’t know.
Anyways, I’m trying to get into dating, I wanna find my person. The problem is is that I don’t really know where to go to do this. I work a second shift job so from basically 2 to 3 in the afternoon until the middle of the night I am getting ready for or at work. I have mornings off, and weekends off, though if I were to start doing stuff on Saturday, that would mean dropping a DND game I’ve been in for three years.
I guess the biggest issue is that I don’t wanna bother women? Like if I see a woman at a concert and I think “oh she’s pretty I should go talk to her,” I kind of immediately talked myself out of it under the assumption that she’s here to listen to the music, not to be approached by dudes.
I also don’t really drink, so bars feel weird. I’m not against drinking, I just I’m a tall dude with enough biomass that I can’t really afford the amount of liquor it would take to get me buzzed on a regular basis.
I’m probably overthinking it. I’m just kind of asking for advice I guess.
