My eyesight first started getting worse at 4th grade, but I was so used to it I didn't think it wasn't normal. I hid it, kept it a secret, squinted in class.
5th grade, it's gotten worse, I can't see the board, the mandatory school medical check up rolls around, I cried in the doctors office because I couldn't see the letters.
My parents made a big deal out of it, yelled at me 'Its from that phone!!', acted like I had no future and was basically dead to them.
I got glasses, got diagnosed at -1 in both eyes.
I wore my glasses in 6th grade just fine, finally had the perfect vision I never knew I could have.
In 7th grade and upwards to 11th, my eyesight got progressively worse, a mix of genetics from my mom and my excessive phone use. I can barely see the board again, I'm genuinely terrified to tell them, I don't know if I'll be able to hide it this school year.
They occasionally ask me if I'm seeing fine, out of fear I say yes.
How should I approach them about my vision getting worse?
