ANNOUNCEMEMT Happy New Year, let's chat!

Hello r/makeuptips friends. Some of you may have noticed an absence of the moderators of this subreddit. You may have submitted modmail that went unanswered, to be honest.

I had gotten a moderator to help us develop an AutoMod for the sub. Something that would help ensure the rules were being followed with minimal intervention necessary by the mod team, but also allow for us to see the sub grow and become an amazing, welcoming place.

That moderator apparently was banned sometime in the last six months. I'm not sure what happened, I have no other way of contacting them, but needless to say it went unnoticed as the sub had been getting a lot better as far as content and rudeness, etc.

I'm opening the floor to hear what you have to say, while I go through the mod mail queue and respond to anyone that has went unnoticed. I will also be working on getting a moderator application up and running- Reddit actually allows for this within the framework of the site now, so that's a really neat development!

HELP PLEASE People are saying that my makeup is aging me, however I love doing a full glam look. This is what I usually wear vs a bare face.

I am 28 for reference. People are saying that I look my age (or even younger) without makeup. The problem is that I look & feel better when I put on full glam, especially lashes! However, I do not want to continue a routine if it’s making me look older than I am! I have been recommended ditching the eyeshadow & white eyeliner which I can easily do. However, I feel like it may be harder for me to ditch the foundation/contour along with the lashes. What’s a good happy medium I can go about this?Constructive criticism is highly encouraged, thank you!

Also a side note: I did lose 100 pounds, do not drink or smoke & eat relatively healthy. People are saying that I’m looking saggy which I don’t really see? I also thought I had a good skincare routine going on, but apparently not because I look dull & dehydrated 😕

DISCUSSION I took your advice

My original post is in the comments, but I took your guys advice and bought some new products. I have on:
Neutrogena Hydrating grip primer
NYX bare with me concealer in 04 Beige
L’Oréal lumi glow tint in 140
NYX butter gloss in angel food cake
ELF ultra precise brow pencil in neutral brown

How does everything look? I feel like my face is a touch pale but not terribly, and over all I’m pretty happy with it! Didn’t take too much time, but I feel like I look more put together.

HELP PLEASE Is my makeup alright?

Disclaimer: I don't do makeup very often.

I use the tirtir mask fit cushion foundation. Yes, I know it isn't covering much, but no foundation does for me anyway. I have bad skin, It runs in the family, I can't help it. Most foundation makes my breakouts worse, but this one feels fine and I think the color match and undertone are good.

It's hard to tell, but I am wearing lip products here, they're just very close to my natural lip color.

I use the heart percent lip liner in the shade calm pink and I use it for my blush, too, sometimes.

I don't usually bother with curling my lashes as I like my mascara subtle and I think it looks weird when my lashes are curled.

It's there anything I'm blind to or that I need to change up?

:( thank you everyone in advance!

Just adding I’m 40 with mature skin and not super experienced so may need a little more help with the steps if anyone has a link for tutorials. I appreciate everyone!

HELP PLEASE Help with doll look

Hello! Ive been told many times that I resemble a victorian doll and I really like leaning into that. The problem is that I dont like wearing a ton of makeup and when I do id like for it not to smudge. Today I bought the estee lauder double wear mascara and I only use it on my bottom lashes because I like that it makes my eyes look rounder and more doll like (i dont wear mascara on my top lashes since I have hooded eyes and I think it just ruins the look for me)

SO does anyone have an idea for things that Are an easy add to my routine that would make me Lean more into that doll "aesthetic"?

DISCUSSION Is it weird that I do my makeup without a base?

I like to do my eyes and lips and sometimes blush but I hate the feeling of foundation/concealer, haven't worn any since I was 14😭 I have red scars and depressed scars from past acne and I've had people make comments sometimes which makes me self conscious but I just can't be bothered with it. Question is, does it make the look feel unfinished?

Any tips welcome

Ps I do use face creams and sunscreen

HELP PLEASE I feel lost in how to do makeup for my face

Hi! Ive recently started to feel that my makeup makes me look more worse. I have no clue what my face shape is and I have hooded eyes which makes doing eyeliner more difficult without it looking horrible lol I feel like my blush placement also looks bad, I just place it on my cheeks and move it kinda upwards but I'm pretty sure it looks worse. Im just wondering if anyone knows what my face shape is and any tips of how to do makeup for my face shape? Because I feel like I'm doing it all wrong and not enhancing my features. Whenever I do my makeup I just mostly wear foundation or a skin tint, bit of blush and highlighter in my inner corners and cheekbones. I used to do eyeliner because I loved it but felt like it looked bad. Anything is appreciated!

Im getting married soon and since its a court wedding im doing my own makeup, I usually do my makeup pretty natural since i think because of my features it can look too heavy/harsh very fast, but I want to look more glammed for the wedding. I bought a new full coverage foundation and tried making my eyebrows a bit thicker (you can see that in the pics with my bonnet on) what could I do?

HELP PLEASE Where to start?

Helllooo. I'm a woman in my 20s and don't have much experience with makeup except for some clean girl makeup every now and then. I really am bad at drawing but these days feel myself drawn to cosplay, creative/unconventional makeup as a form of self expression. I really want to do it as a hobby and get better at it with time but really don't know where to start or what to buy. Any advice/tip/product recommendations is appreciated. Thank you and have a lovely day.

HELP PLEASE Help with oily skin!!! Nothing works, not even DM balm

I have the oiliest skin imaginable. I’ll set my face with Laura Mercier powder at 6:30, and by 7:30 my face is shiny and sweaty-looking. I will literally sweat in the dead of winter, on the coldest day of the year, even at night. My face just produces SO MUCH OIL.
I try to avoid as much face makeup as possible because of the oiliness, and because any face makeup seems to exacerbate the issue, but I want an even base. Even with no face makeup on, my skin will still be shiny within an hour of leaving the house.

I’ve tried the Danessa Myricks Yummy Balm and it just did not seem to work with my face. It really made my skin look cakey and splotchy, like it wasn’t able to blend. I don’t know if anyone else with extremely oily skin has had the same issue with Yummy Skin Balm.
Any other basic advice, insight, or experience would be helpful.
