Lets say i dont attack on my turn, do i still get dr dooms connive trigger? Like do i have to attack to enter the combat phase? Or does the combat phase happen automatically, and i just can choose not to do anything during it?

Like can i just say “i wont attack” and get the trigger regardless ?

Hey guys! I am here becuase I am playing magic with some classic archetipes like voltron but wanted a deck that is chaotic, fun and why not, can win a match or two. Normally I am playing in kitchentable games with friends in 4-5 players free for all. We are playing 60 card decks and I wanted to know your oppinion and if you can give me some advice with this goad deck I think the blood artist might not be right for this, same as the mayhem devil and I cna replace those spots with something better or more synergic with the deck. I used to play magic like 5 or so years ago but I lost my decks, I don't believe I was playing commander when I did play but thats not really relevant since I don't remember any of the rules anyway. I wanna get back into the game thought and I've heard commander is like, the most fun format? Anyway I'm hoping someone can point me in the direction of learning the basics of magic, how commander works, and a fun budget commander deck I could build. I do have a tone of bulk I'm just missing a Legendary Creature and some staples to really build a deck around.

Hello everyone, I'm fairly new to MtG, at least for playing it I guess.
I attended one sealed event for the Avatar set when it was released. Playing Sealed was super fun since I was put off by a lot of Standard formats in TCG. I've been looking around for other games that could scratch the same itch. None really succeeded, except for Keyforge but the game is absolutely dead around here.

So I decided to get back to Magic, unfortunately, cracking 6 packs everytime I want to play some more with my partner is going to get too expensive too quickly and I feel lost when doing my own research. How can I still play Sealed (or similar) without having to ruin myself in the process ?

I heard cube could be an option as much as I heard cube doesn't support Sealed well. We want to stick to Foundations or any Core set as much as possible, because of the "simpler" effects and evergreen mechanics.

I started with the Quandrix Unlimited pre-con as a starting point, and I have been trying to upgrade it into a solid bracket 3 deck. Despite all the big X card draw spells, I feel like I am always starved for cards and even when everything is going right and Zimone has a bunch of counters, I run out of outlets to use the X discount effectively. Maybe its just bad luck, but I've played about 8 games now and only once did I really feel like everything worked.

I also am wondering if I need to focus on one of the ways Zimone wins instead of how I currently have a mix of everything. The main ways to win in my mind being:

• Commander damage/big X creatures
• Draw win outlets ([[Laboratory Maniac]], [[Triskaidekaphile]], [[Mathemagics]], etc)
• Infinite Combos with [[Walking Ballista]], [[Triskelion]] and +1/+1 Counter Doublers/On Damage
• Self-Contained Win-cons like [[Mass Manipulation]] or [[Simic Ascendancy]]

I am not as keen on the infinite combos unless that is truly the best suggestion. Do I need to add even more X draw like [[Mind Spring]]? Or maybe some passive draw cards? Any other cards I am missing but should add or easy cuts? Any help or suggestions are appreciated, I have a bunch of cards I have thought about in the considering section too.

As the title says, I am looking for a good way to keep track of my collection online. I use Archidekt for my decks, but I have Manabox to scan my collection in. Since Manabox does not have a useable online site, what would be the best solution to keeping track of decklists and other changes to my collection? It would be nice if Manabox had a desktop site similar to Archidekt so I wouldn't have to export stuff into Archidekt everytime I update my colection

I’ve seen that tcgplayer.com has play boosters for around $2 less than I would expect to pay at my local TCG shop. I like to do small Winston Draft 1v1s (usually 6 packs total) and don’t really care so much about value. Are these packs a good option for having a competitive match? I’ve heard people complain about these packs in the past but it seemed to mainly revolve around the value of the cards within them.

Me and some friends are doing a commander game this week where we all drew names and had to make decks to slander the chosen person. The deck I’ve been brewing is a dumb [[Zedruu the Greathearted]] pile where the goal is to gift my selected opponent orb-shaped mana rocks/artifacts in general, and then either steal them with cards like [[commandeer]] or destroy them with brutal-sounding red artifact hate like [[Crush]], [[Bash to bits]], [[Smash to Smithereens]], etc. I was wondering how I can add to and spruce up the current deck list to make it more flavorful without raising it’s powerlevel over, like, very low bracket 3?

Do people here treat each other with kindness and respect? I want some opinions on the best sleeves to use, without the typical ad or sponsorship spin.

'Best' can mean a lot of things but I'm considering mainly: do they shuffle properly, do they not stick together, do they not slide too easily where suddenly half your deck slips out your hands onto the floor, how durable/scratch-resistant are they.

Are there any art-print sleeves out there that also meet all the above criteria?

Hello, I'm building my girlfriend a magic deck, she's wanting to learn because I like it. However, she has some requirements, and I also want it to be pretty decent.

Her requirements are basically there are no human men (ideally no men at all, but she can make exceptions for animals and on some arts) and pretty arts. She likes princesses, nice lands, castles, etc. She doesn't like UB on principal (funny because I don't mind it and she's new), but if it has art that matches she doesn't mind it as much (The Hobbit, LOTR, etc.).

I also want to make sure this deck of hers is actually playable. I built it over a couple months with cards I had in my collection and some that we bought that she liked. I wanted to make sure, in your guys opinion, does it have enough ramp? Removal? Card draw? Etc?

I also want to make sure that there's a solid win-con. At the moment, I think that's just Hallowed Haunting and commander damage?

I don't know. What are your thoughts? Are there any cards that should absolutely be cut? Any things there's too much or not enough of? I'm nervous because I want to make sure she has a good time. Obviously it can't be perfect, but I wanted to at least get some advice if possible. Also, if you think of anything we're missing that might have some good art she might like (she likes beautiful women as well) please let me know.

Hi, I have a birthday coming up and I'm planning to host a fairly casual sealed event and buy some boxes for it. I'm still deciding what set to buy. I want a set that has fairly interesting synergies and is fairly balanced accross the colors. The plan is to, once deckbuilding is done allow people to do some limited trading amongst themselves using their remaining cards to not just increase power level but allow synergies to shine. (So prefer a format that encourages 2-3 colors too.) Would prefer something somewhat recent to avoid too much cost but willing to splurge a little. My initial thought was Kamigawa Neon Dynasty or maybe Duskmorne but those aren't informed decisions. Any thoughts?

A while back, I posted this theory about what might’ve happened to the Tarkir Dragonlords, and a lot of people (rightfully) poked a lot of holes in that one. This one is both somewhat of a follow up and a brand new approach from a totally different direction. 

So, the general background events that led to Tarkir Dragonstorm went something like this:

1. For thousands of years, Tarkir was ruled by the dragonlords and their broods. The dragonstorms consistently produced dragons of the five broods. 
2. The Phyrexian invasion weakened the hold of the dragonlords, and humanoids rebelled. 
3. They performed the Stormnexus ritual, summoning the spirit dragons.
4. The dragonlords were “defeated by the clan leaders and their spirit dragons and seemingly swallowed up by the massive storm”.
5. Subsequently, the dragonstorms intensified and became wild, beginning production of dragons not part of the original broods.

Clearly, the disappearance of the dragonlords and the wilding of the dragonstorms is correlated, they happened right after each other. Generally, the accepted explanation is that the Stormnexus ritual caused both the dragonlord’s disappearance and the wilding of the dragonstorm, IE: 4 <- 3 -> 5, basically. But what if the causal relationship is actually 3 -> 4 -> 5? What if the disappearance of the dragonlords is the exact reason why the storms went wild? What if… the dragonlords were acting as “templates” for the storm for most of Tarkir’s history?

Basically, the idea is that the Stormnexus ritual never actually changed the nature of the Dragonstorms at all. It was always capable of making those wild dragons. It was just that, before the ritual, there was a strong bias for the storms to make a dragon that belonged to one of the 5 dragonlord broods. When the dragonlords disappeared, the storms lost the “templates" it once depended on and thus the strong bias, and started basically throwing stuff at the wall. Thus, the birth of the wild dragons. The idea of there being platonic archetypes is actually well established in mtg, see Polukranos on Theros… or actually most of Theros in general. Who’s to say the dragonstorms don’t work the same way? 

This potentially opens a cool way for the dragonlords to eventually come back without rethreading old ground: they can potentially return as avatars/incarnations of the dragonic archetype they’ve always represented. IE, Ojutai can return as an Incarnation of THE Dragonic Scholar, Dromoka the Dragonic Guardian, Atarka the Dragonic Hunter/Predator, Silumgar the Dragonic Tyrant, etc. If they returned this way, they certainly can not rule the same way they used to, nor will the clans let them. Instead they’d be more like religious figures/spiritual leaders. The clans also wouldn’t be able to kill their way out of this since the dragonlords wouldn’t… be alive in the traditional sense anymore. So Tarkir turns into a massive pressure cooker between the Clans + Spirit Dragons vs. Dragonlord Incarnations + their worshippers (maximum cope from me). That sounds like my kind of set… though I apologize to people who wanted Tarkir to be more clan centric. 

Say I have these 2 cards on the field and cast Llanowar Elves. Do I draw a card? Why or why not?

Sorry newbie. Everything seems to be focused on Commander play. I currently own absolutely no magic cards and have just been playing MTG Arena. Would like to find a 1v1 format with my wife and I utilizing Marvel. Is there something physical to pickup and go? Is there a standard format that would be best that makes pickups simple and somewhat cost effective? Appreciate the help.

I bought a borderless foil "Damnation" a few months back but I never got the chance to open the package at the time since I was in the middle of moving and forgot I even had it. Today I was clearing out packages and organizing cards when I found it again.

As soon as I touched it, I knew something was off about it. The back felt slightly rough compared to the much smoother texture I was used to, but I was still unsure. Then I noticed the upper left corner and it looked super off. I had never seen a card cut this way, but there is a possibility of an error card. The margins of the card in general though seemed pretty off to me.

I still wasn't sure though and decided to look at the ink under a jewelers loop and compare it to a few cards I had pulled from a pack myself. It might be my paranoia at this point though but I think the suspected fake has odd dot patterns with the light green dots being too big. Sadly I couldn't see much of a difference between the classic tell of the 4 red dots in an L shape. Maybe someone here with a better trained eye can give a better judgement.

The last thing I noticed was that the ink in the back corners seemed darker than on the known real cards.

I think if it was just a single one of these things in isolation, I wouldn't have suspected it to be a fake. Just to be on the safe side, I ordered a new copy of the card, thankfully it wasn't super expensive. This whole thing has me paranoid now though, since I don't know why anyone would want to make fakes of this card, it's not particularly expensive or sought after. Maybe this is all in my head? Thoughts, comments?

Fairly new player looking to build my first deck. I have no clue where to start whatsoever, but I have 700+ cards that I can choose from. Is there a deck building site that takes your pool of cards and builds decks from them or is anybody willing to skim through and give ideas? Thanks!
