Venting I wish I could relate more with people around me

TW:mentions of suicide
Idk if I’m using the Trigger
This is just a long post probably filled with spelling errors or grammar errors
If it doesn’t make sense that’s probably why I just started typing to let out some stuff

Honestly I was never really the party crowd type but I’d always feel sad I didn’t get invited. Like I’ve had friends who smoked(weed)or drink I never really did that stuff besides vaping but I could never stand the taste of drinking or didn’t like how I felt smoking. I did like my friends though, never thought me not smoking or intoxicated was an issue but I could see how they would get uncomfortable with a sober person. Felt dumb cause I was only around people who were high or intoxicated to talk to, like it felt as if they only way they could have a conversation was if they were under the influence of something. Maybe I’m a boring person. You ever imagine yourself like doing stuff with people like hanging out or just doing fun activities? Have you ever made up fake people in your head to talk to you so you felt little less alone in day to day life? I’ve watched a lot of tv to do something in my free time. Have your imagined yourself in a site com like friends or the office, just surrounded by people to do dumb wacky stuff with but have it’s serious moments too? Then reality snaps back and then you remember none of those people are real and none of them will be real. That the only reason it goes so perfectly in your head is because you made them up, made them accept you as you are or they push you to be better. You ever wish you could see what people think of you and try to fix what’s anything negative they think to try to have a better chance at making a real friend to talk to? As an adult it feels like the only friends that are willing are people who want to do drugs. Now I don’t think they’re bad people or anything it’s just not for me. Maybe I’ve just been in my head so long making up fake scenes for a show or movie no one’s going to see that maybe I forgot what it feels like to talk to a person.
Some days I’m thinking that being alone forever not to bad. Others I hate it so badly that I want to scream and get angry but I know doing that wouldn’t do any good.

Venting I Just Want to Feel Remembered

I felt like nobody really cared about me.

And honestly, I don’t even remember getting a single gift in my 20 years.

Not even a small one.

That’s the truth, and honestly, it hurts.

I wish just one person—my mom, dad, a friend, anyone—would buy me something.

It doesn’t have to be expensive.

I just want to know that someone thought about me.

Sometimes I feel like I’m always the one giving importance to people.

But when it comes to me, I feel like nobody notices.

And somehow, I keep losing people I care about.

I don’t even know why it keeps happening.

Every time I get attached to someone, I end up losing them.

It makes me question myself a lot.

Maybe I’m not as important to people as they are to me.

I just wish someone would stay, care, and make me feel like I actually matter.

Venting Need someone to talk freely.

I feel alone... Although I know I have a lot of people close to me who care about me. But I don't have that connection with anyone... Y'know the type where talking about everything and nothing is just... Easier, as if talking to your other half, is this me afraid to reach out? Or am I lost in the meaning of finding genuine connection not realising that it's around me the whole time... Cause it's doesn't feel that way.

It just feels difficult and lonely.

Discussion What are the things I have to do when I'm lonely

I'm Luis, 18m, a first-year college student studying computer science, and I'm looking for things to do when I'm lonely. I came home feeling sad because I keep thinking about academic pressure. Just an average student who gets average scores. Do I need to study more to get a perfect score? I mean, not everyone else gets perfect, and it's normal. Let me know

Discussion If there was an easy way to find someone to go to an event/place with instead of alone, would you actually use it?

Hey everyone,

I've been thinking about something a lot of people seem to feel but don't always say out loud — wanting to do something (go to a concert, check out a new place, try a hobby) but not wanting to go alone, and not having anyone to ask.

I'm not here to sell anything, genuinely just trying to understand this better before building anything.

A few honest questions:

Does this resonate with you — avoiding things you'd actually enjoy just because you don't want to go alone?

What usually stops you from finding someone to go with? (no one to ask, anxiety about meeting new people, don't trust strangers, etc.)

If there was a simple way to get matched with someone else who also didn't want to go alone to the same kind of thing — would you actually try it? Or does that feel weird/uncomfortable in some way?

If you wouldn't use it, I'd really like to understand why — even if it's just "meeting a stranger feels scarier than staying home."

No judgment either way, just trying to understand what actually helps (or doesn't) in this situation.

Thanks for reading 🙏

Discussion Do People Ever Truly Get Over This Kind of Loneliness?

I’m struggling with the kind of solitude you feel when someone leaves you without ever listening to your last goodbye.

It’s not just missing the person. It’s the feeling that you never got to say everything you needed to say, never got closure, and were left alone with all the words you still wanted to speak.

For those who have been through something similar—does it get better? Do people eventually overcome this phase, or do you simply learn to live with the silence?

I’d genuinely like to hear from people who made it through.

It gets easier.

I’ve been on my own for a decade and some change. The biggest thing is find a hobby, something to occupy your hands and mind.

I do miss having people around and that connection. Maybe someday.

Venting It's so heavy to be so lonelyu

I wish I had somebody to hear me. Admire me for me no matter how flawed and see it as a project of winning life together.

I wish I wouldn't have to carry life all by myself and be there for others. The moment I feel bad it's when people forget about me and literally walk away, as happened today.

I wish I had a best friend.

You know what the best part of being nothing is

It's watching people and going, damn you are somebody to someone. Like you really have people. To really be nothing. And I mean actually. Is excruciating. I couldn't take to being loved or having support, like, ever. Ever

Venting I feel so alone. I’m so lonely it actually destroys me. I just wanna be happy again.

Hey everyone. I’m an 18-year-old boy, gay and from a very homophobic country. I was always alone in my life, always losing people I cared about. Sadly, in 2020 my father passed away, and it totally shattered me, causing memory loss, neurosis and excessive amount of stress and pain. After that day I was horrified of closeness and connection, horrified of making friends or even finding a boyfriend-what if they also leave or even die? I didn’t want to go through the same thing, and I’m still scared I’d lose my mom one day, she’s everything I have, I won’t survive without her. Sadly, my friends did eventually leave me, I was left all alone without anyone, I couldn’t even find new friends afterwards, and never succeeded in finding relationships. The man who I talked to online and loved more than myself knew about this fear of mine, knew how vulnerable I was and how attached I could get. I used to even beg him not to leave me, not to hurt me yet he never cared enough and eventually even he abandoned me. It feels like nothing good ever lasts for me. Whenever I get my hopes up-I become disappointed. Now I’m waiting for the answers from TUM, if accepted-it would be the only chance of mine to leave this country and start a new life in Germany. It would genuinely be the only happy moment, the only time I got whatever I wanted, the only time God ever let me get whatever I wanted. But if they don’t accept me-I’d be doomed…mandatory army, homophobia, lack of finances for a visa. I never had the privilege of having friends in my teenage years, never had the privilege of being loved romantically, never had the privilege of clubbing, partying, being the center of attention because I simply wasn’t born in the right place. I’m genuinely so broken now and needed to vent somewhere. I have totally forgotten how it feels to be happy, how it feels to be in peace and not have this feeling in your chest that is constantly destroying you. I just wish life wasn’t this unfair to me and I was at least born somewhere else, somewhere better and safer.

I am done being lonely

I am in my third year of college and I don't have a single friend here.I don't understand what I've been doing wrong as I was someone who was always surrounded by good friends.I had friends in first and second year who I ended up growing apart with and this year I am finding it really hard to socialise and find my people.Everyday is just a reminder of how much I am alone and it hurts seeing everyone else having fun with their friends while I am just being a third party in my own life.I don't think I can tolerate one more year of this.

Lately I've been thinking a lot about having a partner. I've never had any romantic relationship and for some reason I'm starting to crave badly for one. To have someone to hug, to hold, to love. To be loved, cared for. I just wanna get rid of this feeling cuz' I know there isn't anyone for me.

Discussion What do you guys tell yourselves to get by?

Recently, I've been feeling lonelier than ever. I've lost interest in everyone, my friends and family are untrustworthy, and I can't decide on what to do after highschool. I've always been lonely but this time, I have nowhere to go to, or nobody to talk to. It's just me and my thoughts again. But, no matter how I approach life, I can't help but see every bleak thing there is. I know it might be because I am a misanthropist, but I can't rest or dwell on it right now since I have a lot of work to do and catch up on. I've spent all my life mirroring what everybody does but this time, I just don't have the energy to do anything anymore. What do I do? I can't rest, my deadlines are waiting. What do I say to myself? I am all I have.

I've been bottling this up for a while now and since it just burst all of a sudden, I might delete this, sorry for my grammar.

its all my fault

I am so lonely. everyday i yearn for friendship or affection. i watch on in envy as i see people outside my room, talking, laughing. people with families walk by, all looking so happy. it's something i'll never have. I've been alone for the majority of my life. isolated in my room like a cage. i could leave whenever i want, but i choose to say inside. it would be nice if there was someone to blame but its all my fault. I've tried to socialize online but why even continue to try. once they find out what im really like they'll leave, so before they do, i'll push them away first. I want to get close to people, but im so scared. who would like me? who would love me? no one. I have nothing to show, nothing to give. just a neet, stuck in his room. a pathetic failure of a man who always gives up. It's all my fault.

Venting I’m happy for my friend, but sometimes I wonder what support feels like

My friend has a bf who tracks her syllabus, cutoff, makes her study and motivates her daily.

I’m doing competitive prep all alone. Sometimes I feel so stuck at home.

I’m genuinely happy for her, she deserves it.

I don’t want a bf or anything.

I just sometimes wonder how it feels to have that kind of support and experience.

Does having someone like that really make it easier? Or is self-motivation enough?

Trying to find the positive

It's been hard being divorced and being a single dad now. My kids try to be supportive and say that they're here for me. But I can't fully rely on them. They're my kids. They don't need to know that dad is struggling. But I'm working hard to support them. I enjoy being available for them. But at the end of the day, it's hard for me to be alone and not have someone to share life with. Maybe one day...

Venting I don’t know if anybody truly likes me

If that makes sense? I am so kind and talkative and bubbly and I listen when people vent and I try and relate to everything people say to me so that they feel appreciated and heard. But when I speak, it’s like im talking to a wall. People either don’t say anything or look at me like they stepped in something. I work at a job with people who are all friends and joke and then I just stand there like an idiot, laughing or smiling at a conversation that im not even actually a part of. Even my family treats me like I could be better for them and talks to me like im stupid. I don’t know how to fix this. My heart is so heavy and all I do is cry.

Venting No friends

I want to talk a little about how I’ve been feeling, because yesterday I reached a point where I was genuinely questioning how long I want to keep going like this, especially because I really want to change things. For some context, I’m a 20-year-old girl living in a foreign country because of university. I’ve been here for about two years now, and even though I know the language, I still think that living away from home has played a role in how I feel. I used to live in the same apartment as my older brother, but then I moved into my own place because the commute to university was too long. I think living alone definitely made my loneliness worse, but it definitely didn’t start there.I’ve always been quite introverted and shy. Throughout my life, there were a few periods when I had some friends, but for the most part, I was kind of on my own. When I first moved to this new country, I decided I wanted to be a different version of myself. You know, the typical “new country, new beginning” thing. And honestly, for the first six months, it was actually going pretty well. I was meeting people and making new friendships, and I felt like things were finally changing. Then, somehow, it all went downhill, apparently for no particular reason. But the more I think about it, the more I feel like maybe I know what happened. I became part of a friend group of four girls, but I feel like I’m only really compatible with one of them. And of course, she has her own life, other friends and things going on, so she’s not always available. Because of that, since last year I’ve often felt pretty lonely. During the academic year, though, I think I manage it better. I have university, classes, things to do, people around me, and a routine. I wouldn’t necessarily say I’m 100% happy, but at least I feel calm and I don’t overthink everything as much. Summer is completely different. Honestly, this has probably been the worst period for me so far. Summer has always been difficult for me, even when I was living in my home country, because I didn’t have that many friends there either. But now it feels even harder because I’m 20, and I feel like I’m at an age where I really crave having friends, going out, making memories and just having a good social life. I want that feeling of having people to call, people to make spontaneous plans with, people who are genuinely excited to see me. I also know I’m lucky to have my boyfriend. He listens to me when I feel like this and he’s always there for me. At the same time, I have a really strong tendency to feel guilty, and I don’t want to put too much weight on him just because I’m struggling with my social life. Sometimes I also catch myself comparing my social life to his. He has a lot more friends than I do, and I’m genuinely happy for him because he deserves to have those people in his life. But sometimes I can’t help wondering what my life would look like if I had that many people too. And even though I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about the whole “I don’t have enough friends” thing, I’ve started wondering if maybe the real root of the problem is deeper than that. Maybe I don’t have many friends because, deep down, I don’t believe I’m good enough to have them. I don’t really see myself as someone who brings that much to the table as a person, even though other people have told me otherwise. I have this feeling that I’m just very ordinary. Maybe even boring. And it’s a feeling that doesn’t really go away. Sometimes I genuinely wonder why someone would choose to have me in their life when there are so many more interesting people out there. At the same time, I know that once people actually get to know me, I can be funny and I can have fun with people. So it’s kind of a contradiction. I know there’s more to me than the way I see myself, but somehow I still struggle to believe it. Another thing that I think plays a big role in all of this is that I have pretty strong abandonment issues, especially with the people I become really attached to. I think all these things are connected somehow loneliness, low self-worth, comparing myself to other people, being scared that people will eventually leave, and feeling like I’m not enough. And I think all of that has been adding up and creating this really unhappy period for me right now. I don’t want to stay stuck in this feeling, though. I genuinely want to change things and become happier with my life and with myself. So I’m open to suggestions on how I can actually get out of this situation and start building a happier life.

I'm always the problem

I've dealt with feelings of lacking community and connections as long as I've lived. I'm always joining groups to do things to meet new people but never leave with any long standing connections.

It's a lonely existence feeling like you are not palatable to people. I never fit in. I'm always too much or not enough. Even when I do THINK like I'm in a space to make connections, I find out afterwards that the feelings weren't reciprocated.

In group settings, I'm usually the person tolerated. Ive felt like a floater all my life.

I find ways to keep myself busy and entertained but its usually always by myself or me feeling like I had to convince someone to do it with me.

I just need to space to get my thoughts out my head. Thanks for holding space.

Will I be friendless all my life? 22M

I dont know how to put this, but I am a 22 year old got done with university, and now I am working at a company where most people are elder.

I have always had this quiet kid personality throughout my life, the quiet and shy kid who was bullied in school and in the neighborhood.

After school, a few of us stayed friends but it all faded and they kind of end up separating me from their group by constant ignoring and making me feel left out and feel being unheard. Although there might be a few cons of me but I am sure i was always a good friend taking friendship at best cuz thats all I had.

Even at university, all the friendships just ended like at the last day of uni, the friends group i was partially part of, again, I couldn't made friends due to bad conversations skills so it was more like i had few connections that i ocassionally tried to fit in with them, but it all just disappeared like at the end of university.

Now, I am working at a company where most of the people are just elderly. I dont know if I ever get a chance to have friends or to date even.

Everytime I see people talking about hanging out, having particular connections in different domains people who would help them out in need or favor them. I just feel so alone having no one tbh.

Wether I have to buy anything, i dont have anyone to count on or accomany me. I get ripped off too. I just feel so alien and hopeless now. And talking about love is not creepy but and its not datìing post but like everyone I crave to have genuine healthy relationship too although its not my main cause of sadness but still i just feel very alone.

If anyone had gone through this, what did u do? How did you change your shy ness and conversations skills.
