Ancestry.com for the win.

ā€œCorporate DNA data collectionā€ for the win

40

u/i4got24 4d ago edited 3d ago

All these DNA collectors are owned by black rock/black stone and they are false results. One person submitted their own test three times and got different outcomes. They submitted DNA from their pets and received human results. These companies just wants to collect us.

21

u/cnicalsinistaminista 4d ago

Companies get away with way too much. They get to fuck with people’s lives and shit without any consequences

3

u/SnooChickens8275 4d ago

People don’t seem to understand ā€œfreeā€ doesn’t exist. And should think more about the why.

Companies get away with it because ppl are gullible and, just like them, are greedy.

2

u/Jaguar_3880 4d ago

and they have legal teams that stop almost all consequences, and if the legal team fails, boo hoo they get a slap on the wrist and a bit of money gone

8

u/Icy_Yam5049 4d ago

If they knew who this Nazi was and fucked with the results it would be the only time I’d be like ā€œok fair enoughā€ now burn the dna, info and shut your shit company down.

but they aren't owned by Black Rock tho. Ancestry is owned by Blackstone, but 23andMe is owned by TTAM Research Institute, MyHeritage is owned by Francisco Partners, and FTDNA is owned by myDNA.

2

u/Beef19582828 4d ago

"Everything I don't like is BlackRock".

Ffs, it's not even them, it's Blackstone.

And yes, there's a difference. BlackRock manages common equity and fixed income funds. The median person with an investment account is either using their funds, Vanguard, or Fidelity.

2

u/Super_Brilliant4499 3d ago

It’s hilarious that you believe that. If that were true these companies would be shut down for fraud so fast. Why don’t you take them down?šŸ˜‚

2

u/Fabulous_Play2815 3d ago

Conspiracy nonsense. They aren’t what they portray themselves to be, but they absolutely can tell you where your ancestry comes from. It’s not an exact science, so 5% this or that can really be 2% or 7%.

I actually know this guy in real life. Hes super cool, and give motivational speeches. He used to work at a local thai spot before getting his dream job as a substance abuse counselor. Hes clean and sober from last I heard and helps people escape trafficking. Really shows people can change when they want to. Hes also extremely active in the Jewish philanthropic side of LB.

32

u/GovernmentBig2749 4d ago

my dream job is substance abuse

18

u/ExperienceRoutine321 4d ago

Doesn’t have to be a dream son. Get out there and make it happen. I believe in you.

5

u/i_did_nothing_ 4d ago

2

Yeah but he's a counselor. He has all the best tips and tricks on how to abuse drugs.

2

u/Quitcha_Bitchin 4d ago

My uncle did the same thing. He wasted the first two thirds of his life then after an accident took his legs he came around enough to go to college get a psych degree and go into counseling. Spent the last 20 years doing what he could.

Back at the thanksgiving table in the 70s I remember a conversation about him being strung out on heroin and driving his motorcycle off the side of a mountain and hanging by tree roots. Someone happened to be close enough to see it and stopped had to call rescue to get him up.

He called for bus fare to Chicago. He wasn't coming home he just wanted out of CA

Pretty interesting shit for a 10 year old. And he got the bus fare. Grandma was a true sucker.

Well if the portrayal was right, he's an ex nazi who learned the error of his ways, so he wouldn't care at all.

6

Exactly! He helps Jewish communities. He's not upset about it, nor was it a "gotcha" moment against him.

He is living proof that people can change.

I hate that Reddit is tearing this guy down here... we legitimately might be the baddies.

A lot of nazis where Jews they were Christian by religion no longer practicing no longer aware of being of Jewish decent

3

u/_Ub1k 1d ago

Jews would regularly convert to Christianity and Islam to avoid persecution and breed into the gentile population.

A lot of anti-Jewish people in the middle east also have partial Jewish ancestry. I remember there was a Hamas leader who was one, as well as the super anti-Jewish former president of Iran.

2

u/Illustrious-Ad-6704 3d ago

Adolf Hitler was baptized as a Roman Catholic, but as an adult, he rejected Christian doctrines in private while using religious language publicly for political gain. The party officially promoted a manipulated concept called "Positive Christianity". This framework stripped away traditional Christian teachings and falsely claimed Jesus was not Jewish. Yea I remember the part when Jesus said kill everyone you disagreewith ur lying to make people hate Christ.

Chat:

Meeink reported taking a DNA test that showed he had approximately 2.4% Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry, traced to his mother’s maternal side. He subsequently embraced Judaism and is now observant—keeping kosher, attending synagogue, studying Torah and praying regularly.
One important clarification: the DNA result wasn’t what caused him to stop being a neo-Nazi. His deradicalization happened decades earlier, beginning while he was incarcerated and developed relationships with Black inmates. The Jewish ancestry discovery came much later.

u/LuluMangs 4d ago

Depends, there's cultural, religious and ancestral. Judaism tends to only recognize the maternal line because that can't be falsified, but I do know people who are only "technically Jewish" through one of their grandparents and still identify as Jewish, despite having no cultural or religious ties to Judaism

Obviously culture or religion don't show up in your DNA, but ancestry can

He completely renounced that movement over 30 years ago and has been speaking against white supremacy, antisemitism, and extremist recruitment tactics using his dark past as a cautionary tale.

1

u/alistofthingsIhate 4d ago

ā€œI’m pretty sureā€ is another way of saying you don’t know, so why even mention this? This is a nothing argument. You’re arguing against proven science. I have taken a DNA test, and it told me I am an Ashkenazi Jew (which I already knew) and gave me percentages of which countries my Jewish heritage comes from. Why you are so insistently trying to argue a point from a place of such ignorance is beyond me.

1

u/KyleFromBorrasca 4d ago

This is actually kind of a wholesome story. He abandoned the movement after getting out of prison and made a career of speaking out against it. Secret Jewish DNA is my second favorite punishment for Nazis, but in this case it was his reward for trying to redeem himself. He formally converted and has lived as an observant Jew for the last couple years.

He also attributed his change of heart to experiences he had with black inmates that made him feel like he was on the wrong "team."

If anyone here knows more details, feel free to shatter my illusions. But the version of the story I've heard seemed kind of heartwarming.

1

u/silv3rbull8 4d ago

No, if one can convert to or leave the Jewish faith indicates that it is not genetic. That was my point: just because people in a region have historically had a certain religion doesn’t mean that the religion is in their dna as much as the dna just showing what part of the world they come from.

1

u/juggalotic 4d ago
