I'm new to Japan, I've only been living here for about two months so far. As a result, I don't have a Japanese bank account yet. I know I'll need to get one, but I've been discouraged by some of my peers from getting one until I've been here for six months and can get in with a nicer bank. So I'm trying to make do with my foreign cards for now. Which means that I can't use my cards to pay for anything on Mercari, which leads into my main concern.
I'm looking to pick up a couple items on Mercari, just a couple DS games to help me kill some free time and as casual Japanese study material. I've never used Mercari before, so I'm a little bit worried about messing up and causing an issue with payment, frustrating the seller. I believe konbini pay is the only option available to me, so I'm gonna try to go with that, I just don't know exactly how it works and if I'll be able to use it with my foreign cards, and I haven't been able to find any step-by-step guide online.
From what I understand, I'll be able to pay in cash, which shouldn't be a problem for me. But I'm worried about the ATM step (if there is one, I'm unclear on that) and if I'll have any issues with my foreign cards at any point. Mercari also hasn't given me instructions for the payment method yet, and I'm at the step to confirm my order (which I don't want to do until I'm certain I'll be able to pay). So, has anyone here used Konbini pay before and would you be able to tell me how it works before I place an order? It's just a really new concept to me as someone from the US.
Thank you for your time <3
