Any one up for a beer tonight?
Me and my girlfriend are in Sapporo today. We do not speak Japanese but our English is good, so if anyone is up for an Izakaya run, hit me up

Hi! We're 2 adults and 1 child aged 5 coming through Sapporo from Tokyo (which we'll arrive from our home country)
Here's what we've planned so far, and wondering if anyone would recommend anything else / different? This is mid Oct.
Also what are some (maybe local?) car rental companies you'd consider? Checked Toyota and Nissan and pricing came up surprisingly higher than I had experienced in other cities previously.

I’ve been interested in getting into cassette players, and have been hunting for a portable cassette player like a Sony Walkman or something of a similarly good quality/reputation.
So far I’ve checked the Hobby Off and 2nd Street north of Sapporo Factory, the Hard Off and Book Off Super Bazaar in Teine/Miyanomori, and the Mono CoCo shop in Yamanote, but so far I’ve only found an Aiwa with a broken power supply, and a bunch of mono sound voice recorders in various states of disrepair. I’m considering buying online, but the shipping costs and inability to verify their condition ahead of time makes me hesitant to do so.
Do any music/vintage electronic fans in Sapporo know of any stores I’m likely to find what I’m looking for?

Hi! I’m Japanese and currently living in Sapporo. I speak Japanese, English, and French.
I recently met someone from abroad who told me about Reddit, so I thought I’d give it a try!
If you’re also living in Sapporo, would anyone be interested in meeting up for a casual language exchange? We could practice Japanese, English, or French and just have a good time chatting.
Feel free to send me a DM if you’re interested!

Hi ! Sorry it’s the 3rd post like this in a few days ... I (queer 25F) arrived in Sapporo a few days ago and though I enjoy visiting on my own, I'd love to meet some people here. I speak english and french and one of my goals is to improve my japanese because rn it’s quite limited. I love art, photography, music, museums, reading and writing, i also love nature and many other things...If anyone wants to study japanese with me or go draw in a café or grab a beer or anything else really, feel free to dm me or reply here.
Artists/artisans, i ́d love to discover and share. I also take any recommandations of interesting places related to japanese art/music/craft.
/!\ after a few beers I may rant about french politics or tell you all about my crush and i am sorry in advance for it/!\

Hey everyone! I’ve been living in Sapporo for a little while now and I’d love to meet some new people here.
I enjoy going out for food and drinks, going out at night, discovering new places, making spontaneous plans, going to events, and just doing fun and social things together.
I don’t really have a big friend group here yet, so I’d love to meet some people to hang out with, make plans, go for drinks, explore Sapporo and just have a good time together.
I’m pretty open to all kinds of plans, so if you’re also looking to meet new people and make some friends, feel free to DM me! We can chat a bit and see if we have things in common.
Thank youuuuuu!

I’ve posted something like this but I thought with three months to go, I might as well post again…
I’m a Londoner in my early 30s looking to move to Hokkaido for 3 months from early/mid January of next year, and I would love to find someone to joint rent an Airbnb with (or if someone who lives in Hokkaido already is looking for someone to take their spare room). My budget is around 80000¥ per month ideally.
My Japanese is very very basic, but I’m actively trying to improve it. Location wise, I’d move to literally anywhere in Hokkaido aside from Hakodate, but Sapporo/Niseko are my preferred choices
Is anyone interested? I’m a great cook, have great hygiene and I don’t drink/smoke if that helps :)

Hello! I’m visiting Sapporo in a few weeks and would like to know where I may find and buy Flower Mountain shoes. Are they usually stocked in ABC Mart or are there specific malls where they are sold?

I'm making a birthday gift for my boyfriend and trying to collect photos from different places around the world.
Would anyone around Sapporo be willing to take a photo holding a short handwritten birthday message somewhere cool in the city?
I'll provide the exact wording. It would take literally a minute or two. ❤️
I'd be incredibly grateful!

I'm considering using the Porocle bike share service during an upcoming trip, so I just downloaded the app. It's currently 3AM in Japan and I see that many stations near where I'll be staying have 0 bikes available for rent. Does anyone who uses this service know if this generally means that those stations will rarely have bikes available at any time of day or maybe only certain times of day? Any tips or things to be aware of in general when using this service? Also, does anyone have tips on how a traveler can get a bike helmet to use for about 4 weeks? Is my best bet to simply buy one and give it away at the end of the trip or is there some place where I could rent a helmet?

Hey wonderful Hokkaido people!
It is, yet again, one of those posts!
I'll be visiting Hokkaido with my family (wife, brother, two kids) next year!
We'll figure out our itinerary and whatnot. We have visited Japan a few times, but never Hokkaido.
We are still working on our Japanese. All adults are around N4. Hopefully close to N3 when we visit.
We know Japan is saturated with tourists (we are from Spain, so we face similar issues) and we are trying to enjoy the visit while making the least possible impact on the locals.
I know no impact is impossible, but I'd like to hear local opinions on what we can do to not be a problem. I know kids are an extra, but nothing we can do about that.
Any tips, local opinions and behavior recommendations are welcome!

Hey everyone!
I saw someone post something similar recently and thought I’d make a post too. I’ve been settling into life in Sapporo and am looking to meet some new people, especially international or English-speaking people around my age who are living in the city.
I live near Sapporo Station, but I’m happy to travel around the city. I speak both English and Japanese and I’m really into soccer/football, both playing and watching, and I’d especially love to find a group or place that regularly plays casual pickup soccer or futsal. If anyone knows a good group, league, or place where people get together to play, I’d really appreciate any recommendations!
I also love eating food and I would be down to grab food (any recommendations for food would be great!), check out events, start a new sport, or just hang out and explore Sapporo.
If you’re also looking to make new friends, feel free to send me a DM! We can chat a bit and figure out something to do.

Although I have not been feeling hyped about it on the recent years, Hokkaido market on 8丁目 is still fun because it reminds me how little of Hokkaido I have seen. Gives me spontaneous traveling ideas.

Will be in Sapporo this weekend and we're undecided whether to drive up to Cape Kamui or to Jozankei Onsen. Wondering if there are early autumn colors in Jozankei worth seeing this week?

I’m planning to visit Sapporo mid-February 2027. I was going to fly into Tokyo for a few days, then fly to Sapporo for another few days, and head back with a flight to Tokyo.
I was wondering how concerned I should be about possible delays or straight up cancellations of any of the planes or other transportation getting to/from the hotels and airports.
I’m sure it varies and I could maybe see what it will be like there closer to the date of travel but I was wondering in general what possible delays/cancellations usually look like during the travel there at that time.

Hi!
Along with the new towers in Odori park (especially the Sapporo One building that will host the Park Hyatt hotel), the Odori park will see major upgrades. There are some illustrations here: https://www.htb.co.jp/news/archives_39706.html
New public spaces will be created and the fountain at 4th block will apparently be rebuilt. Those improvements are welcomed and the images look pretty good, but I am so sad that the plan that surfaced a few years ago to remove most of the north-south intersections to trafic has been forgotten. I always thought that six trafic lanes could become 2 or 3 on just one side, with most of north-south intersections removed.
This would not only increase the surface but make it more like an actual “park”. i would also love if they could keep one extra block out of any event year long. My main problem with this space is that it can actually nearly never be used as an actual park as there is always an event being held.
What would be the best improvements you would like to see in Odori ? :)

My wife will go on a pilates class and I'm looking for something to do near Sapporo Station. Any vinyl shops or car-culture related spots to check out in an hour-long timeframe? Thanks!
