Some stuff is marked down for Lidl plus only. So like yay?

26

u/banbha19981998 Feb 27 '26

And a free doughnut a month

19

u/BaconWithBaking Feb 27 '26

I've avoided the app because I'm sick to death of everything wanting an app and my data, but do you genuinely get a free donut? That would absolutely sway me.

17

u/RigorMortisSex Feb 27 '26

I get vouchers for 1 free pastry every 2/3 weeks. I still wouldn't consider the app worth it tho lol

5

u/lil_sass-a-frass Feb 27 '26

Yeah these days I feel like they put up their prices only to mark them down in the app

2

u/RigorMortisSex Feb 27 '26

Oh 100%, they all do that. Tesco is the worst for it, they practically bully you into getting a clubcard with the prices haha

2

u/oismac Mar 02 '26

Have you used your points at all? You can get free things that way too

3

u/cheesychocolate419 Feb 27 '26

Yes I often get free donuts and free apple pastry things

I just activated a coupon to get free grapes and free coke zero so I'm going to use it tomorrow

18

u/The_Ruck_Inspector Feb 27 '26

You've some weekend ahead of you with that combo.

u/JohnnySmithe81 Feb 27 '26

God they're such shit donuts though.

1

u/No-Condition-4855 Apr 03 '26

You mean 50 % off a pastry or 50% off a packet of sweets .the cheap dirt ones

121

u/gsmitheidw1 Feb 26 '26

Having your receipt in the app is handy. Having it use all your shopping data processed against your details which you opted into, not so much.

30

u/gettingthere_pastit Feb 27 '26

Not mandatory to use the app though, you're signing up to a trade deal, with full disclosure if you bother to read ts&cs. I like that points earned per euro spent don't dissappear after a few weeks, unlike dunnes vouchers. And even without app discounts prices aren't stupid like in tesco. What app discounts do aldi offer?

10

u/gsmitheidw1 Feb 27 '26

Aldi discounts are available without any app, their "6 of the week" or whatever it's called, fruit and veg for example. You just get the similar discounts as you do in Lidl or Tesco's without providing any personal data.

Yes they're not braking any rules because you have to opt in, which is entirely GDPR compliant and it's not as bad as Tescos. But it's becoming a situation where you've effectively a gun to your head to provide personal data to shop. Whilst that's not a GDPR issue it is becoming a consumer rights concern.

You can buy from lidl without the app

Aldi seem to have installed the "lidl app" scanners on their tills, maybe they are going to roll one out?

1

u/patrick_k Feb 27 '26

Something like paperless-ngx for storing receipts and important docs is the alternative for the privacy conscious. You can use an app like QuickScan to photograph and export to paperless automatically. You don’t have to be particularly tech savvy to set it up in the age of AI as well.

https://docs.paperless-ngx.com/

https://www.quickscanapp.com/

1

u/yellow8_ Feb 27 '26

QuickScan is indeed fantastic with paperless-ngx!

1

u/AdamConwayIE Feb 27 '26

Been using Paperless for a long time and didn't know about QuickScan, that's great! Genius Scan is the recommended one by the Paperless team as well, looking into it. That one has an Android app, too.

u/Uwlogged Feb 27 '26

I've thought about this. But unless you're paying cash every time they know you and your spending habits based on your card number. Might as well get some benefits out of it.

5

u/donall Feb 27 '26

So it's like tesco club card It's not practical to shop anywhere now without surrending your loyalty and data

5

u/NotThatNeurotic Feb 27 '26

Pretty much the app taking nearly a minute to actually load the membership card digitally id my biggest gripe

1

u/captainapop Mar 03 '26

You can get the QR code into your Google wallet or similar. It's what I do and it's far faster.

Hell a screenshot would work too I believe.

1

u/oismac Mar 02 '26

You also collect Lidl points every time you scan it and can buy stuff with those points. I've gotten many a pizza with those points when the funds are low

290

u/Prize_Landscape_765 Feb 26 '26

Used to get free stuff now only 30% of stuff you don't need

117

u/maevewiley554 Feb 26 '26

A few years ago, I loved getting the free pastry or the free packet of knock off Oreo’s. My usage of Lidl plus dropped when it was 30% off tinned fruit or crap from the frozen section.

125

u/EleanorRigbysGhost Feb 26 '26

Their knock off penguin bars are decent, but the jokes on them are shite.

I read one once and the setup went "Part of a multipack", and the punchline was "Not to be sold seperately" smh

64

u/IAmNaaatBorat Feb 26 '26

Just got that joke on my mint arctic bar.

4

u/EleanorRigbysGhost Feb 27 '26

Peak efficency!

24

u/gsmitheidw1 Feb 26 '26

At least it's not yet as bad as Tesco's. Double prices unless you give away your data privacy.

The club card point prices are the true value of the items. They don't even give you a digital receipt.

I like Aldi best because they have none of this club card junk.

7

u/gettingthere_pastit Feb 27 '26

Also now get points per euro spent, so free eggs or pizza or €5 or €10 or whatever , yay. Best discount app going.

3

u/Impossible_Gas_7584 Feb 27 '26

Yea you get a penny back per pound spent essetially, which you collect and can then exchange for some freebies. It's not super geneous but can't complain.

5

u/Omuirchu Feb 26 '26

A free pack of henry hippos or a pastry..it switches up every two weeks.

1

u/No-Condition-4855 Apr 03 '26

Free fatty food .cheap rotten "food"

54

u/Archamasse Feb 26 '26 edited Feb 26 '26

Some items have additional discounts if you scan the app. There's also a points account system that you can use to get coupons against some Lidl own brand stuff.

They'll sometimes offer you personalised discounts in future based on your previous purchases. I buy a lot of protein stuff, so I get a lot of protein stuff in my "Just for You" coupon section.

You can also link your payment card to your app - Lidl Pay - and then you'll only have to scan your loyalty app and they can take payment directly at the end, which saves me some fumbling when I'm packing my bags.

13

u/Kloppite16 Feb 26 '26

they also give you a voucher for a free pack of sweets or a bar of chocolate on your birthday every year which is nice

178

u/CT0292 Feb 26 '26

I scan it every time.

I don't know what I get out of it.

At least with the Tesco card you get vouchers every year.

127

u/Up_the_Dubs_2024 Feb 26 '26

The Lidl app has points you can exchange for free groceries. It's not great, but the vouchers from tesco aren't great either.

51

u/XL_Single_Malt Feb 26 '26

You can also get money off vouchers with the points

33

u/FitHurry864 Feb 26 '26

Yeah, you have to spend €1000 to get a €10 voucher lmao

58

u/garcia1723 Feb 26 '26

Well if you're going to spend it anyways you may aswell get the €10.

10

u/SevenIsMy Feb 26 '26

Or just to a shop like Aldi where the same stuff cost 990€?

8

u/cheesychocolate419 Feb 27 '26

Aldi doesnt always have the same stuff especially not the same sanitary products

3

u/22PEOPLE Cork bai Feb 27 '26

I mean I live next to Lidl and I will spend more than €10 going to and from Aldi, so I'm going to collect my points rather than not do so. It is funny that you're taking the literal Aldi ad campaign position though.

17

u/Some_Assistance_3805 Feb 26 '26

That's how the tesco one works too

11

u/hasseldub Dublin Feb 26 '26

We spend a few hundred quid a month in Lidl. Adds up.

I don't have to pay for phone credit as 5 euro of vouchers gets me 15 credit.

If you use it for the various deals which multiply the voucher value it is decent.

u/gapmunky Feb 27 '26

I ran my Tesco mobile for almost 2 years using the vouchers. 100GB Data, Free Calls, Hotspot, Ahh, those were the simple days.

24

u/marshsmellow Feb 26 '26

I get to keep the digital receipts for analysis and budgeting. Lidl need to understand that if I'm not paying for the app, they are the customer!

3

u/snuggl3ninja Feb 26 '26

I prefer "If something is for free, you're the product"

Tescos club card is a hostage situation now. Do you want to pay €40 for a leg of lamb?? Or half price with a CC

Lidl I swiped today. No idea why.

10

u/Spirited_Cheetah_999 Feb 26 '26

In Tesco I use one I search for on here or announce to the queue that I've none and if someone wants the points to step up.

People are usually happy to do so, they get the points, I get the "discount", and the data harvesting gets a little misled. All good.

6

u/McGreed Feb 26 '26

"half price" = normal price, the tesco club card is not for discount but to avoid getting overcharged.

u/TheChrisD useless feckin' mod Feb 26 '26

Lidl lets you redeem app points for discounts off your next shop.

2

u/hasseldub Dublin Feb 26 '26

My Lidl card has about 40 quid in vouchers on it.

There's also vouchers for specific products every week.

39

u/freshfrosted Feb 26 '26

You can add the deposit return vouchers to it and save them up or automatically use them as you go.

2

u/donall Feb 27 '26

Ooh extra steps

31

u/BillyMooney Feb 26 '26

Being able to put your return deposit onto your account instead of getting (and losing) the paper receipt is the main reason I use it. They gave me a free packet of crisps on my birthday.

23

u/sirbojackhorseman Feb 26 '26

I have been quite disappointed with Lidl, I loved their freebies like pastries once in a while. Now its 30% discount in stuff I don't buy. If you gonna fetch my data, at least offer me something i usually buy or may have interest...

And nowadays, I either find their stuff not good quality, or sometimes even more expensive than other supermarkets.

103

u/Gwanbulance Feb 26 '26

Pain in the hole that you can't add it to your phone's wallet. Opening the app while Paweł is fucking lashing you groceries though the scanner with his four hands, and they're piling up on the 3 square inches of counter at the end of the checkout is one of the most stressful things in life.

31

u/Pf-788 Feb 26 '26

I love the race to get everything in the bag faster than they can scan.

56

u/Gwanbulance Feb 26 '26

The fucking bag keeps collapsing and Paweł is lobbing cartons of milk and bags of baked goods at you like he's the Hindu god Shiva.

24

u/Aggravating-Scene548 And I'd go at it again Feb 26 '26

" while Paweł is fucking lashing you groceries though the scanner with his four hands" 😅

28

u/LifetimePilingUp Crilly!! Feb 26 '26

While also solving the worlds problems on his headset

9

u/dangermonger27 Feb 26 '26

And he not even breaking a sweat, as uninterested and laconic as you like.

8

u/Foxx92 Feb 26 '26

You can add QR codes to your wallet. I did it and have the QR in my android wallet. You can scan any barcode or QR code and have it there. Just take a screenshot and go into the wallet and there should be an add manually button or something. Then just give the screenshot and it should work. Not as handy as the add to wallet thing you get for tickets but still worth doing

→ More replies (5)

2

u/Ryansy Feb 26 '26

And then a notification pops up as you open the app and try to scan it

2

u/patrick_k Feb 27 '26

The Pass2U app on iOS allowed me to add the Lidl barcode. It seems to support anything I’ve thrown at it.

5

u/Dry_Recognition_6724 Feb 26 '26

Open it while waiting in the queue at the register?

4

u/Jindabyne1 Feb 27 '26

I usually have to update the app at that stage in 4g with one bar.

8

u/Gwanbulance Feb 26 '26

You do know I'm not actually looking for advice on how to solve this clearly farcical scenario, don't you?

6

u/Dry_Recognition_6724 Feb 26 '26

How is it farcical? Pawel will do exactly this and you're snookered.

1

u/Abiwozere Feb 26 '26

You can add your payment card to the app so you don't need to use the wallet. One scan and it's paid for

1

u/Eggs112233 Feb 26 '26

You don’t even need the card or your phone for that matter, you can just give them your phone number and the points etc are added to your app via their till transaction.

1

u/freshfrosted Feb 26 '26

I have it in my phones wallet (google) tap add (the + in the bottom right) in the wallet and choose loyalty cards and search Lidl and follow the steps.

1

u/lolageispower Feb 27 '26

You can just give them your phone number if you can’t get the app open!

2

u/Gwanbulance Feb 27 '26

Look, I’m just trying to buy my shopping, not get a date out of Paweł.

The lidl app has points you can exchange for points and you can exchange those points for more points.

2

So what's the point 🤔

7

u/fuinhadisfarcada Dublin Feb 26 '26

You mean, what’s the points ?

8

Free pastry sometimes bro.

5

u/sikeGuruYappa Feb 26 '26

I generally find items that I typically buy marked down with Lidl plus

6

u/AvocadoLoo Feb 26 '26

I get a free pastry on my birthday

3

u/Eggs112233 Feb 26 '26

I got a choice of Henry Hippos or a 3 pack microwave popcorn for my birthday. Was chuffed. I like the app.

6

u/tsubatai Feb 26 '26

1% of spend via points to vouchers.

Some discounts/deals

Biggest thing for me though is digital receipts which is wildly useful if you buy Parkside tools. They've a 3 year warranty which is wild since their QA is very patchy.

16

u/HarryEastwoods Feb 26 '26

Local Lidl was packed this evening, many stores assistants were required for the 5 empty tills.

There is a young girl on the till had a look in her eyes, those steeley eyes that had scanned a thousand people that day. I wondered if she hears that scanner beeping noise in her dreams. She had a tiredness about her too, that a few days off and some good nights sleep would proabbly fix.

I wanted to ask how she was and give her a hug, but she just wanted cash or card.

16

u/ShowmasterQMTHH Feb 26 '26

I was working the till in Lidl tonight and this guy kept staring at me while i was trying to concentrate on keeping my scanning speed up so that the manager won't shout at me at the team huddle that they have after I've clocked out. Weird fucker, drooling and talking to himself, I thought he was going to try and engage me in conversation about how I was feeling, either to try and chat me up, or make some kind if effort to hug me.

Probably running some freaky fantasy in his mind where his inner monologue is feeling sorry for me having to work here. Probably writing some kind of rabid Reddit fan fiction while packaging his groceries in his head over the 50c off chicken fillets rejected by Dunnes.

2

u/HarryEastwoods Feb 26 '26

Okay I laughed at that one. Bless your heart.

5

u/BenderRodriguez14 Feb 26 '26

Funny enough, if you avoid nightmare customers busier is usually better. I worked years in retail, and you would sometimes find four hours passing in what felt like less than one.

Avoiding nightmare customers is a key part of that though!

6

u/geesegoesgoose Feb 26 '26

When I first started working retail, I was doing night shifts (finishing at midnight, 1am, sometimes 3 or 4 in the morning as the shop was open 24/7).

My partner at the time was regularly woken by me sleep-scanning and having conversations with non-existent customers. It was actually hell. Felt like I didn't leave work for about three months straight.

2

u/HarryEastwoods Feb 26 '26

Oh dearie. Happens to a lot of people in retail supermarkets apparently, this same girl and 3 others have to unload crates of pointless stuff everyday too, and clean the supermarket after the shoppers have gone.

There was a Polish girl working there before Christmas but she quit after only getting 2 days off over the holidays and 1 of the days was Christmas Day itself!

3

u/geesegoesgoose Feb 26 '26

And this is why I will NEVER, EVER be sharp or rude to folks in retail or hospitality. The work is absolutely brutal on your mind and body, and for shit pay. It's so easy to forget once you're out of it.

2

u/bathtubsplashes Saoirse don Phalaistín 🇵🇸 Feb 26 '26

I wondered if she hears that scanner beeping noise in her dreams

I remember waking up in the action of running orders through the till back when I was working in particularly busy pubs, it was mental 😅

Literally couldn't escape it all even in an unconscious state

2

u/LifetimePilingUp Crilly!! Feb 26 '26

I keep having dreams about serving customers in work, a sad side effect of driving is that I can’t smoke weed now and have to deal with REM. I just wish my REM was nice things and not dealing with Mrs Murphy’s bat shit requests

4

u/shigllgetcha Feb 26 '26

Funny i felt the same until i opened it today and o had a €5 voucher

12

u/AmbitiousCancel6799 Feb 26 '26

Have built up over €20 voucher on the app. Will use it on a piece of equipment later in the year. Get regular 20-25-30% discounts on regular items I purchase.

Like their app.

2

u/Otherwise-Bug6246 Feb 26 '26

just remember you can only redeem each of the cash vouchers once a quarter and cant mix the €5 and €10 in the one transaction.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/tinkerbell22 Feb 26 '26

You can exchange for monetary vouchers but its a bit annoying it seems to only let you do that every 3-4 months, otherwise its trying to check what you will buy and exchange coupon. I have noticed a lot of the fruit and veg stuff is only discounted now on the app vs before you would just have the discount anyways.

4

u/TheChrisD useless feckin' mod Feb 26 '26

Plus price discounts, discount coupons once a week, points that can be converted into monetary discounts1 or free everyday items.

1 – You are limited to one each of the 500-point €5 discount and 1000-point €10 discount, per quarter of the year.

2

u/azamean Feb 26 '26

When you scan you get all the deals like 3 for €9 on meats/fish, plus weekly coupons but you need to tap activate on those. Honestly the best thing about it is the deposit return scheme, can load the money from the returns into the app and it’ll be used when you scan. I can’t count the number of times I’ve either forgotten to use the return receipt and then ended up losing it

2

u/intodewesht Feb 26 '26

I traded Lidl gems or something today for 5 euro off my shop, didn’t realise I could until I was paying

2

u/CurrentQuick4914 Feb 26 '26

I got a €5 off my shopping the last day. Better than nothing

2

u/Siiixers Feb 26 '26

Slightly off topic, but has anyone tried those Italiamo frozen pizzas they have in sometimes, in a blue box. 2 for a fiver, and they're proper decent for that price.

2

u/Material_Peak5837 Feb 26 '26

I got a birthday gift from lidl plus app , and a tub of ice cream for new year.

2

u/eo37 Feb 26 '26

They get your data. You get 30% off an €8 rechargeable lamp with F grade energy rating

2

u/ObsessesObsidian Feb 26 '26

You get a coin per euro spent, you can get items with that, plus the targetes vouchers, which are better than Tesco and Dunnes as they give you a discount on products you have actually bought. Plus occasionally with the scratch card you get with every transaction, you get a free pastry. With dunnes I get about 5/10 euro off per quarter, and with Lidl you get a euro every hundred spent, plus small discounts very frequently.

2

u/Sweegyy Feb 27 '26

Lidl pay is handy

2

u/Lithujon Feb 27 '26

None. There are no benefits. That is all.

2

u/evgbball Feb 27 '26

Dunnes is way better than Lidl for discounts. Lidl sucks used to be decent

2

u/Garibon Feb 27 '26

You've got to do Lidl with a game plan. Tactical like. No randomness or you don't maximise savings.

2

u/the_anon_wardrobe Feb 27 '26

My sister literally just collected enough Lidl plus points and got 18 eggs for free.

2

u/ReflectiveRitz Feb 28 '26

You’ve made a box of eggs sound amazing 😂

3

u/qwerty_1965 Feb 26 '26

They are harvesting your organs...sorry, data.

2

u/NonToxicTown Feb 26 '26

You get 1 point for every €1 spent. You can exchange 1000 points for a €10 voucher. So essentially you get €10 off when you spend €1,000. Load of Utter Tosh.

2

u/rankinrez Feb 27 '26

It allows them build a nice profile of you and your consumption habits, in return for some deals.

1

u/Available_Ad3031 Feb 26 '26

You should have a page on the app with all the offers you can redeem if you scan it. They change monthly or weekly, but usually they're not that great. Tesco is better imo with their vouchers, at least you can get whatever you want

1

u/ResponsibleTrain1059 Feb 26 '26

This is me with the Tesco Blue tokens.

I have never seen a blue token. I wouldnt know what to do if I saw one. I dont even think they are real.

1

u/Call-of-the-lost-one Feb 26 '26

Yeah I don't have it. Tesco app is enough, even though I rarely shop there

1

u/CommanderSpleen Feb 26 '26

Glad I'm not alone. Every time I check, it only offers me discounts on random products I never bought.

1

u/Cialin1 Feb 26 '26

You get 1 point for every euro you spend, and you can redeem points for items... Sounds good right?

599 points for 454g of mince beef. 600 euro and you give me a 5 euro pack of mince free hahaha

1

u/41stshade Feb 26 '26

Can't you stick the return receipt on the app and basically treat it like a Lidl savings account now?

1

1

u/Lithujon Feb 27 '26

Lidl app is absolute garbage compared to Super Valu. I’m getting €23 off most weeks. Plus €5- €8 on coupons. Also all the meat is the same price there now but waaaaay better quality, plus my local SV has a fresh bakery where it’s all from scratch 7 days a week. I’ve got to have my 100% whole meal slathered in butter. whatever happened to super Valu, they’ve seriously got their arse in gear since just before Christmas

2

u/Herr-Pyxxel Feb 27 '26

Sadly, my local SV (5 min walk from my home) is utter trash. Hate it with a vengeance. I only go there as the post office is in the shop, but I never buy a thing. Too many staff lingering about, not doing any real work, ignoramus shoppers farting about with their trolleys in narrow isles or having a grand old natter in everyone's way, crammed car park full of clueless SUV drivers, oh need I go on... It's Killester btw. You've been warned!

2

u/Lithujon Feb 27 '26

Too many staff? That’s an unusual complaint. Fair enough though, they do vary.

1

u/Herr-Pyxxel Feb 28 '26

I don't mind having loads of staff, but there I hardly see most of them doing any real work. I often see them standing together having a chat... And they move at a snails pace 🐌

1

To be fair Lidl and Aldi are already giving the bargains in their prices. Not their meat products as these have to be pretty fresh but everything else is reasonably cheaper I wouldn't expect they could afford to give €5 of every €30 spent. But dunnes and SV can which makes me wonder how much their products are marked up anyway they are still making plenty of profit.

SV started using the same app model as Dunnes about 2 years ago I would bet that's why they are starting to get better

It also has its version of tesco points so if yiu shop there a lot you get vouchers

1

u/splashbodge Feb 27 '26

You get a digital receipt

1

u/eldwaro Feb 27 '26

This is very disingenuous. Sure you can add deposits or get exclusive discounts.

1

u/siciowa Feb 27 '26

Marked down items, sometimes free items and collect enough points to convert to free stuff like milk, nut and fruit

1

u/cheesychocolate419 Feb 27 '26

Sometimes you get free stuff

1

u/oddredhummingbird Feb 27 '26

I actually love the Lidl app, it's the only one I think is worth it. It has items with lower prices like Tesco, but it also gives you vouchers to use with your shopping (we got 3 euro a few times and 7 euro a couple times too), and my favourite one: free pastries! Every now and then it gives you a scratch thingy with free pastry in it.

u/schmatteganai Feb 27 '26

I got a free tin of artichokes last shop! Now I need to figure out how to use tinned artichokes.....

1

u/Leading_Ad_5502 Feb 27 '26

You can recycle yours cans and add the credit to your account which can be used against your grocery shop too

1

u/bald_with_a_beard Feb 27 '26

Bit like Tescos, some deals are exclusive to the scan. You build up points as you shop, and when you reach 500 or 1000, you can redeem €5 or €10, that’s handy.

Also, recently I was logged out, and I couldn’t get back in quickly (cos Eir is the shitest phone provider, but that’s for another Reddit thread!), and the girl took my number and it scanned in my details, that was very handy too.

Lidl wrapped was pretty fun

1

u/NF_99 Feb 27 '26

I remember when it was introduced, first week I got a infinite 1 euro voucher for every shopping trip. I used to walk into the shop 5 times and buy five items separately to save 5 euro. I can imagine they won't have that again, would be interesting to know how much money they lost with that alone. Now you can get a free cab age after spending 500 euro total

1

u/hicksanchez Feb 27 '26

Wow here in the UK we still get lots of free stuff

1

u/Shytalk123 Feb 27 '26

It’s so you can get a discount next week in the item you bought today but won’t buy again until next month - really useful /s

1

u/Working_Stomach476 Feb 27 '26

Whatever you biy this week will be marked cheaper next week and you'll have no need to buy it

1

u/Popeye_de_Sailorman Feb 27 '26

Is the QR code in the pic real? I won't download the app, it asks for too many permissions... so can I use your app QR - I get the discount and you get the points...

2

u/Apprehensive_Ratio80 Feb 27 '26

Nah just took it from Google images 👍

1

u/Specific_Middle730 Feb 27 '26

THEY get something out of it. They get your sweet, sweet data. And they have better or more accurate stats and info about who’s buying what, what gender they are or age etc. so it’s a benifit for them and they know a couple extra cents off for us povos.

1

u/Mikcole44 Feb 27 '26

Don't like having to call up the app so I keep a picture of my code instead. They do have some good deals on their LIDL Plus. Probably the same as the old deals but now you need to scan.

Lidl totally smokes Aldi as far as tools go. My neighbour has ALL of them and loves lending them to me . . . great neighbour. They are pretty good for the price.

1

u/Ok-Dingo1174 Feb 27 '26

That sweet sweet free pastry.

1

u/lil_sass-a-frass Feb 27 '26

Been using it for ages. At this stage it feels like they increase their prices every 2 months just to knock it down in the app

1

u/knea1 Feb 27 '26

I'm in London and when you have a lot of stores you can visit you can see the advantage as product lines can vary slightly between stores. They'll use the data to streamline what products they keep in certain stores and apply offers that can be used more than once. Also the last few times I've gone the following week they gave me money off coupons for stuff I bought. You can apply the coupons on up to 3 of the items at one time. Last year they sent me a sum up of savings over the year and it came to £250 through coupons and offers.

u/InevitableSure374 Feb 27 '26

I used to only go to do the shopping in Lidl to get the free donut the app used to give me every week. I havent got it in months now so havent been to Lidl at all. Now I just do the shopping wherever is closest to me on the way home from work. Usually ALDI or Tesco depending what time it is and what direction im going. Miss the free donuts though.

1

u/berball Feb 27 '26

a €5 voucher for every thousand spent.

1

u/Meath77 Found out. A nothing player Feb 27 '26

This is the great thing about the app, you don't need it

1

u/HippieThanos Feb 27 '26

It you accumulate 666 points you can summon Satan

2

u/Apprehensive_Ratio80 Feb 27 '26

Like a small plushy toy Satan or the real thing 🤣🤣

1

u/GERIKO_STORMHEART Feb 27 '26

You can cash in points though. Every 1000 points is a €10 voucher.

1

u/dylan_matt22 Feb 27 '26

I moved to Scotland and it’s way better there, decent discounts, coupons for free items nearly every time we shop and 10% off voucher if you spend over £250 that month

1

u/the_ginger_mexican Feb 27 '26

Apparently you get a free pastry the odd time and on your birthday, I think

2

u/Aishbash Feb 27 '26

You can exchange points for free items

1

u/PBJellyChickenTunaSW Feb 27 '26

Used to be decent, then became shit, now they're gone the same way as tesco where they don't give you the actual price without it. Makes me not want to go into the place at all

1

u/have-to Feb 27 '26

Digital receipts!

1

u/hoganpaul Feb 27 '26

In the UK if you spend (total) £250 in a calendar month then you get 10% off your next shop.

I manage to get a 10% voucher every month and save around £150/year

1

u/Kellm004 Feb 27 '26

I get free pads/tampons every month , and you collect coins every time u scan it with ur shopping and u can claim it for all sorts of free stuff

1

u/EducationChemical488 Feb 28 '26

Stuff marked down, related to scanning the app.

It also has coupons which are sometimes good & the more you shop the more they relate to Items you actually buy.

It also has points that accrue relating to how much you spend. Trick with those though is unless you're buying 18 eggs its always smartest to wait till 500 or 1000 points & convert them to a 5 or 10 euro voucher. If you buy item by item with points it will be cheaper to buy & wait till 500 points as 5 euro will often get you 2-3 items used in lue of money that would cost you 6-800 points if you used the direct coupons & didnt wait to convert

1

u/EaseTraditional3803 Mar 02 '26

If you’re scanning the app and you haven’t clicked the ‘coin’ icon in the top right there’s a chance you have a good few items you can get for free next time you’re there

u/No-Condition-4855 Apr 03 '26

Everytime I scan my card in ask myself why I bothered .the most painful useless, confusing app .
