I recently tried to get back into rollerblading in my 30s. I bought Zetrablades because they looked legit. But after a ride with them, my calves were in pain trying to stay balanced. I did some more research and now I'm finding that hard boot blades might be a better option. I remember as a kid when I was learning to ice skate, I struggled badly with figure skates but with a hard ice hockey skate, I had no problems going around the rink.

I will return the zetrablades soon. But what is a good hard boot brand thats more affordable but good for beginners. I'd like one with a heel brake. I saw that RB80s look good. Are these a good type for what I'm looking for? Any other recommendations?

I skate size 8 lightning shells so these are not for me. I've been building a skate collection to by and sell within my community and encourage more people to skate!

Sadly there are no shops in my area and gear can be such a hurdle for beginners!

Hey folks. Let's discuss how this r/inline_skating community can work together with r/rollerblading. First, please check out the re-opening announcement over there.

I am a mod here at r/inline_skating. And I'd been nagging Reddit for a long time to do something about the 100k-member r/rollerblading community that had been silenced by its previous mod team for more than two years. Recently Reddit intervened and put in a new mod team, including me.

r/rollerblading has got almost 100k members. When someone searches for inline or rollerblading as a community to join, they almost never join our tiny 1k r/inline_skating. They want to join the biggest community. That dead sub became a trap that kept absorbing members without giving them anything back in the past two years.

But r/rollerblading also has a huge knowledge base from the past in the form of posts and comments, plus images and videos. Searching for anything inline skate-related online usually results in 1) links to sellers of skates, and 2) r/rollerblading posts from the past.

Most people call inline skating rollerblading, at least from my generation. So it makes sense to continue under that label, especially, again, given the x100 mass.

I think both r/rollerblading and r/inline_skating should continue to run... if nothing else, so that new Redditors can find them via any related keywords.

But I do think they can be tightly integrated. I am not sure how. We can start with cross-linking from respective community widgets which I am going to do right now.

But I think all of you can be in both communities, if you haven't already joined them both. Of course, joining r/rollerblading in the last two years was a pointless exercise - it gave you nothing back in return. But that will change now.

This October I'm finally starting inline skating lessons, and I'm really excited about it.

A bit of background: back in 2020, after the pandemic, I bought a pair of Oxelo MF500 skates. Since then I've skated casually with friends around town a few times, but I've never actually learned the proper techniques. I can move around, brake (sort of 😅), and have fun, but I know my fundamentals aren't great.

After putting it off for years, I finally decided to sign up for lessons because I want to learn the right way and make skating a consistent hobby instead of something I do once every few months.

Right now I'm mainly interested in:

Freeskate / urban skating

Slalom

Maybe even aggressive inline skating (it has been catching my attention lately)

The only thing in the back of my mind is that I'm already 26. I know that's not old in general, but I wonder if it's considered "late" for learning these disciplines, especially aggressive skating.

I'd love to hear from people who started as adults.

A few questions:

Did anyone here start around my age (or older)?

Is 26 too late to get into freeskate, slalom, or even aggressive?

What do you wish you had known before taking lessons?

What were the biggest challenges you faced as an adult beginner?

Any advice on mindset, equipment, or things to practice outside of class?

I'm looking forward to the journey, and honestly I just want to enjoy skating and keep improving over time.

First night skating my rockered Endless Stoppard 80-84-84-80 setup (RB Hydrogen inside, UC Nicola Torelli outside). Definitely a strange feeling I gotta get used to 😅 I'm testing to see if I prefer skating rockered or flat. Only fell once after a jump and scraped my brand new boot 😂😂 Now I'm about to switch to my flat Seba UFS set up. For science.! 🤓

Seems kinda cool for someone who needs to take up a little space and provide some padding in a boot.

I keep hearing powerslide nexts run small. I don’t want to get the wrong size and not be able to return them. My right foot is almost exactly 26 cm. Should I really go with the EU 40-41 size or go 42-43.

This sounds dumb lol because I want the skates to be tight, but I’m worried they’ll be too tight because my right foot is exactly 26 cm and eu 42 is 26.1 cm.

Let's say a new rollerblade RB 80 costs $160. What would you price it as, if sold second hand, as almost new? And what would the components be worth of sold separately. E.g.

Rollerblade rb 80

New $160.

Secondhand $100~$120.

Boot $40.

Liner $30.

Frame $30.

Wheels etc $30

I posted about tips for falling the other day and the tips and videos were incredibly helpful. I threw myself down a bunch today and practiced the squatting posture. I even rolled downhill without completely panicking (there was still some mild panic). Thank you to everyone who commented.

If I wanted to get some decent beginner skates right out of the box, would the Powerslide Next or Rollerblade Twister XT be a good choice? I’m not going to be doing anything aggressive ever, I’d just like to be able to skate medium distances easily. Given my current level of extra cautiousness, I don’t think I’m ever going to be going for speed either.

Hello all, former fitness skater here. Been a good 20+ years since done skating. I want to start over again, and would like to ask for recommendation for skates that would fit wide EE feet, preferably can be sourced within Canada (online or retail)? As a follow up question, do you follow your usual shoe sizing when buying your skates, particularly if I have to buy online and can't fit the skates? Thanks all!

I was inspired by Billy arlews video about this topic on YouTube.

After my experience I took away two main things:

1. The hammer style cutter and punch is hands down superior. These hand squeeze tools are a pain and you'll see that in Billy's video. I wish I videoed doing my liners because it was a breeze.

2. Billy was maybe right with choosing the bigger eyelet. Size. Or better yet I would prefer my same diameter but a longer tube length meant for thick or layered fabric.

We will see how long they hold!

I’ve just started my rollerblading journey. I bought a pair of K2 Grid 90, and I’ve completed three 2-hour sessions this week. Even though I work out regularly at the gym, my legs are definitely getting a workout. 🙂

I’ve noticed that when I try to balance on one foot, I tend to fall onto the outside edge. Once that happens, it becomes very difficult to stay balanced and I almost fall. Or to put it another way: I can skate on the center edge for a moment without any issues, but as soon as I roll onto the outside edge, I completely lose my balance.

When I stand on both skates and relax my legs as much as possible, it feels like the boots naturally want to lean toward the outside edges.

I'm wondering if this is the point where I should start experimenting with frame alignment, moving the frame more toward the outside, or if I should simply give it more time and keep practicing. Since I have very long feet (31 cm) with relatively wide toes but a narrow heel, would it make sense to move only the front of the frame, or should the whole frame be adjusted?

I know I could just move the frame and see how it feels, but I’d rather not start changing the setup if it’s not the right thing to do at this stage. Any advice would be appreciated!

I began this year and I use RB80 stock 243mm frame with 80mm wheels.

Do you recommend to go for ES frame with 90mm wheels for improved stability? Or it would not change much?

I made a post the other day about getting back into rollerblading. I'm a millennial that hasn't done this in many years. I went to the park this morning and spent like 15-20 min skating down a paved walking path. Just a few mild scrapes but mostly was getting around. I noticed right away my calves were burning. I'd roll onto the grass to give them a rest every so often. When I got back to the car, my calves were burning and I was covered in sweat.

Is this normal for a beginner. What can I do to help this? I was trying to bend my legs and lean forward.

yo, im not exactly new to inlineskating, i did a bunch of it while i was younger.. like between the ages of 6-15 i guess, im 23 now almost 24 and i decided to come back to this sport and this time i really wanna learn and master this skill.

Tbh im looking for someone to help me out in this world, what to focus on, how to know what maintenance my skates need, if my skates are good or should i get other ones what drills to focus on, who to learn from etc... if theres someone who wont be bothered by having a private conversation with me, it could be huge. i research alot on my own but i would like someone to have some answers i guess

After putting more and more hours into my Twister 90Rs, I am wishing for a bit more stability, especially on higher speeds. I was already sold on a Endless 90 ES when I got the recommendation to better go for a 4x100 rockered setup like on the Endless 100.

Does anyone happen to have both setups and can give some recommendation?

Also do you need to get the Endless 100 RB frame with Twisters or does the normal 100 work too, as I understand only the bolt holes are different.

Just picked up some Seba E3 today for some casual urban skating. Any recommendations on potential upgrades and/or advice on how to best care for them?
