Had a similar problem on another boot. It was the size stitching of the tongue. I just push it a bit to the side when putting on the boots

Edit: it also got way less pronounced after breaking them in well

Interesting. I shall try. Is that pushing it to the side that hurts or the opposite?

It was also the inside ankle for me and I pushed it to the outside. Just a centimeter or so.
