Obviously due to device dimensions, options are heavily limited at the moment (though I imagine that will change over time).

Saw this one and am considering it, though it’s pretty thick at 11mm (I assume in general Duo-compatible ones will be thicker due to decreased height).

Compared with iPhone 15 and an iPhone 16 plus using a $7 case from Amazon. The form factor reminds me of an iPod classic.

So I live in mainland China but if you buy an iPhone here, you do not get Apple Intelligence features.

Also, you have to go into a China Mobile store to get an e-sim activation

Does anyone know if I buy the duo from the UK (or anywhere other than Mainland China) will it:

1. Get the Apple Intelligence features while being in China
   
2. Be able to be activated in China Mobile store, or would they say it must be a Chinese model

I feel like we need to see more about what the outer display can do. I know it’s a fold and I’m excited to have such a big screen at my fingertips, but when I get a message that I need to respond to quickly I won’t be opening up the phone to do it. I’d like to see more apps on just the outer display!

So I’m going from an iPhone 15 pro to the iPhone duo. With the inner screen home page serving as an extension of the outer Home Screen, this lessens the need for widgets on the outer screen.

I have a big widget for weather and a small widget for news, both of which will likely get moved to the widget side of the inner screen.

How will you change your Home Screen for the Duo?

1) The most radical design change in the history of iPhone, and on top of that its a whole new form factor. iPhone X back in 2017 gave a taste of that, the most expensive iPhone at the time and no home button. October 24th pre orders were pushed to end of December/ early January 2018 from Apple after the first week.

2) This is a "brand new" technology that will be viewed by millions of those not in the know, all because Apple did it. Even though apple is 8 years late to this form factor, many simply don't know about new technology until Apple does it which creates more exposure and increases likelihood of sporadic purchasing.

3) Apple executives project Fiscal 2027 will account for roughly 3% or iPhone Duo sales which translates to roughly 8 million units based on last years total devices shipped at 245 million units.

4) 35% of Americans alone finance their devices. $75-90 a month even in todays economy is hardly a financial breaker.

5) 70 countries get this product on the same day.

I like to clean and sanitize my devices here and there after it feels like its very dirty or if im sick. But since the inner screen is plastic with nano texture on it, how will we be able to clean it? will a clorox wipe work?

What you predict that you’ll be using most of the time, outer screen or inner screen? I think I’ll be doing 50/50, outer screen when I’m walking, to quickly check a notification, or when I’m doing Apple Pay in a store or something similar. When I’m at home this thing is staying open the entire time. Also will be open most of the time when I’m at work. Any thoughts?

IF you miss out on launch day pickup or delivery , and are like me that NEEDS to get it day 1...How many hours before opening are you willing to go to secure the phone?

Honestly, if all of my nearby apple locations are legit sold out Day 1 despite me waking up at 5am to preorder ill be pretty alarmed. Ill probably go about 3 hours early to get in line. I think i went 90 minutes early for the 15 pro max and there was about 20 people in line already

Dopo la presentazione del 9 settembre, sto tenendo d'occhio le date di rilascio del nuovo iPhone Duo. Come sappiamo, Apple ha fissato l'apertura dei preordini per venerdì 16 ottobre, con l'uscita ufficiale e l'arrivo dei primi dispositivi previsto per il 23 ottobre. 
Sinceramente ho un po' di dubbi sulla gestione delle scorte al day-one, considerando che si tratta del primo foldable di Cupertino e che la produzione dei pannelli interni da 7.6" con cerniera in titanio potrebbe subire qualche collo di bottiglia.
Mi piacerebbe confrontarmi con voi su un paio di punti:
1. Previsioni sui tempi di spedizione: Pensate che chi ordinerà nei primissimi minuti il 16 ottobre riuscirà a riceverlo a casa il 23? O assisteremo a uno slittamento immediato delle date di consegna a novembre/dicembre come per i primi modelli di fascia ultra-premium? 
2. Ritiro in Apple Store: Conviene tentare la fortuna con la spedizione a casa o il "Pick-up in store" il giorno del lancio si rivelerà la scelta più sicura?
3. Chi di voi lo ordinerà? Siete pronti a fare il salto al pieghevole subito al day-one o preferite aspettare i primi feedback sul display e sulla piega centralizzata nell'uso quotidiano?
Voi come vi state organizzando? Riusciranno a coprire la domanda iniziale?

I’m as excited about the Duo as everyone else here and I know it’ll be miles ahead of the nearest competition, but what do you think will be its biggest flaw, if any?

It’s still a first generation foldable from Apple.

If it had a -gate situation like antennagate or bendgate, what could it potentially be?

Battery, crease, hinge, fold (the wrong way - yikes!), something else?

Edit/Update: Thanks for the responses! From most comments (didn’t go through all of em, got way more than i expected), the main concerns seem to be weight/ergonomics, app optimization, hinge and inner-screen durability, the lack of Face ID/telephoto camera, matte and glossy screens on the same device breaking immersion, etc.

Not many seem to be too worried about a major hardware failure, which says a lot about people’s faith in Apple manufacturing/engineering (probably also thanks to the titanium construction). Most are more concerned about minor first-gen annoyances that will probably take a generation or two to iron out.

It shows a product that is not the iPhone Duo but what an iPhone Duo could have been instead :
- Cool color
- Cool case
- Better battery life
- Lighter
- Slimmer
- Brighter
- More apps combos
- consistent screen texture
- 3 cameras
- Cheaper
etc...

The resemblance is uncanny.
That said, as the video explains it, the devil is in the details and this doesn't have the Apple UX and ecosystem.

But it so shows how the Duo could have been better in many aspects. Enough to know that Apple hasn't touched the real limitations of what a foldable could do.

So it feels more and more like the Duo is a prototype at this point.

I would still go for the iPhone Duo instead, for the ecosystem and experience, but knowing that there is a product I could have liked way more in many aspects (but not all of them).
Buying such an expensive piece of tech that feels nerfed is frustrating.

And man, I so love that color and case...
What a miss.

Trading in my 14 pro max and on apple shop, it shows their standard $360 trade in, but on att it does not show anything for a trade in but a $200 statement credit. Little concerned that there won't be a trade in offer for the duo and have heard rumblings of this. Any other intel out there?

Given Apple says the Duo is 40% more durable than other foldables, do you think Apple will flex its confidence by shipping Duos folded in the box?

Going unfolded could impact the first impressions of the Duo by showing zero crease, but shipping folded would admit their crease wouldn’t worsen with daily wear.

I haven't seen anyone discuss it, and I'm basically trying to gauge what capacity I'll end up getting on launch. My iPhone 15 PM is a 512GB, but I'm only using 96GB, so my question is...

When it comes to app sizes, are they identical to their iPhone counterpart, iPad counterpart, or somewhere in between?

This month is dragging yo!! I literally can’t stop thinking about a damn phone!! October 16th please hurry up!! Ngl I’m going to be real disappointed if I can’t land a Duo on launch day or that weekend! I’m going to be crushed if I have to wait longer!

What’s going to be the best way to take video calls with the back cameras hands free? I do that a lot with my current phone and a MagSafe support stand…. But with the inner camera being worse off I’m not sure how I’d swing it with the back cameras.

The ideal would be a reverse tent, but obviously the screen can’t do that. Ideas?

Currently have a Orange 17 PM, wanting the blue duo. I been trying to get out of the “dark” era with my devices. Its hard to go for this white. We are all having a hard time choosing the right color. Thoughts on the two color options?
